  1. You could try removing the said heat shield for a short time just to confirm weather it is the culprit or not! note, if the heat shield is aluminium then you may gets some galvanic ( dis-similar metals in contact ) corrosion at the (steel) fixing points and it will be these that will enlarge and make the shield go loose. Remedy is to fix with copper washers to act as a barrier. paul m.
  2. Best of luck and I hope you don't have to claim but if you do you might find out why it was cheaper. paul m.
  3. So when ( hopefully not) you come to actually 'use' this cheap insurance what exactly is absent from this compared to the others at a lot more money, because something gotta give? paul m.
  4. You was prob in something like this, yes? Paul m.
  5. Seems OK, bit annoying you can't check DVLA history ( reg blanked!) but you really need to stand in front of this car ( when it's dry) as Lexus paint is not as robust as some and black can show swirls like a b1tch.. best of luck and enjoy the test drive! paul m.
  6. Lots of reading material here https://www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/lexus/ct200h-2011/ paul m.
  7. Brake calliper problem is now not a problem because you know about it, and carbon build up is not a big problem here, unlike in the US? As for exhausts then that can be a lottery on any car but the steel OEM on the IS does seem to last a lot longer than most. lots of info here and spec history https://www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/lexus/is-2005/ paul m. ps mine is not for sale.....
  8. They are right "Traction/ABS has nothing to do with headlight" but when they have been under the bonnet doing major parts removal, dis-connecting electrical connections, and fail to completely replace them all then This shows the level of competence no matter how many correct statements they come up with! Paul m.
  9. If any of you F boys are thinking of taking your pride & joy for an airing in Germany then you might want to book up sooner rather than later! https://www.carthrottle.com/post/derestricted-autobahns-could-be-axed-because-of-emissions-laws/ Emissions...Phaaat! Paul m.
  10. Any fault finding on modern cars with masses of electronics and errors coming left right and centre gotta start with a sound battery, you be amazed what errors can rise up when voltages are not perfect! My daughters Fiat 500 was throwing up " Have Power Steering Checked" after every start up, turns out the electric power steering won't operate below a certain voltage ( defaults to manual steering only but not the end of the world in a Fiat 500!) and the battery would just dip below this threshold after the starter motor took it's portion! First plan of attack gotta be sound battery and start afresh, if problem is in fact an O2 sensor then it will rear it's ugly head again. paul m.
  11. If you have got the red lenses in the lights at the bottom corners of the front door cards then you can swap these to clear to increase light levels even more. paul m.
  12. Oh dear, started reading this thread from the 'Latest Topics' link and thought summit was wrong with my IPad as I have appeared to stumbled into a GTI forum!!!!!!!!!!
  13. I think that the radio antenna's installed in Lexus cars are of the Amplified design, so have you checked every fuse you can find just as a remedial no cost start! ps. Don't ask me where all the fuses are in a GS ! paul m.
  14. Have you tried 'unpairing' it and starting afresh?,But I don't know if this will lose the phone contacts (if any) stored in the car though? Paul m.
  15. Just for your information the Engine Management System on a Ford vehicle will extinguish the dash EML after 15-20 drive cycles ( journeys) if the fault(s) that triggered the light in the first place no longer exsist. Invariably it is a sensor that has gone out of perimeters and no actual real fault is present with the car in itself and it will drive as normal. I do not know if Lexus adopt the same logic ( no reason why not ) and you may find it goes out some time soon, but of course the info will be held in the ECU memory waiting to be read if it does. Hopefully you haven't got an MOT soon! paul m.
  16. Check here for a PDF of the maintenance Log. ( not exactly the one I have but the same content) https://drivers.lexus.com/t3Portal/document/omms-s/06LexSCHU_MS0003/pdf/06LexSCHU_MS0003f.pdf paul m.
  17. I haven't gone down the road of doing anything with the headlights on mine (HID's factory fitted) and I probably won't but I have upgraded all the interior lamps to LED's cost about £25 iirc and now radiates a nice white light at night when unlocked. paul m.
  18. Nice one, glad you got there in the end and welcome to the 'club' of very luxurious, unassuming and hopefully trouble free motoring. paul m.
  19. So Jan 3rd has come and gone. So did anything get picked up on the MOT test regarding something possibly amiss under the front end? paul m.
  20. You get to love the ACC after a while ( I use it when ever I can now) but just make sure it IS in ACC and not manual cruise when you come up behind a slower vehicle!!!!!!!!! best of luck with the claim. paul m.
  21. This is from the IS250 Owners Manual but your's won't be a million miles different. paul m.
  22. Prob is the connection for SatNav antenna even though car is not fitted with SatNav unit there might only be one wiring loom for car which contains this connection weather it is used or not. paul m.
  23. I think it would come into it's own when you have to pinpoint places that are not so straightforward as addresses. I usually work on location and some of these can be miles from the nearest Royal Mail Postcode, forest's,beaches etc and railway sidings miles from the nearest letterbox (postcodes pertain to letterboxes) Paul m.
  24. If you did use an insurance searching website then don't forget the likes of DirectLine etc that don't appear on any website searchers. paul m.
  25. No, according to schedule it will be 144 months (12 years) or 120,000 miles, if they were indeed previously done at 72 Months/60,000 Miles. Paul m. Note: Engine coolant change at 120 Months/100,000 Miles but thereafter it is every 60 Months/50,000 Miles.
