  1. 99% gonna be frozen screenwash. Been there, done that! Don’t skimp on the quality screen wash as a split pump from being frozen is a right pita to sort out, and as you have found it is very difficult/dangerous to drive without a working Wash system when needed! It is all the road salt that causes the problem of having to clear your screen more often than just plain rain. paul m.
  2. Can you 'turn off' your remote keyfobs? Will be owners manual. On some you can stop the constant transmission of codes from the keyfob by a sequence of button pushes but it will turn back on the next time a button is pushed. might also be good idea to invest in a RFID shielding wallets for the fobs. paul m.
  3. Thanks for the link, even more expensive than I imagined, but hey it got Lexus embossed on it therefore ££££££'s Again thanks for the link and that's more like it, rubber/water resistant, decent fit & good up-stand without having to sell a kidney! cheers guys, Paul m.
  4. Been looking for a (Genuine) Rubber boot mat for my 250 for a while now, Lexus Bristol had one for sale for £10 just before I actually bought my IS and I kick myself for not buying it in advance, must have been clearing out their shelves! There are boat loads of after market mats on Fleabay but Quality and exact fit is a probably going to be a lottery, ideally want a rubber one that fits snugly with a upstand around the perimeter. Any reccomendstions out there? paul m.
  5. Nice come back. gonna do some homework on getting the HydroDipping as it looks the Buisness I managed to get the PO-40 from a member on here for a great price and as for the VLine I haven't had time to use the car since fitted 'cause of all the snow/ice around me at the moment and I think the battery would take a pounding if I played with it on the drive! paul m.
  6. Result, Nice one fella , bet a Lexus never been fixed so cheaply before!! cheers Paul m.
  7. I do like the look of that trim covering but is it robust and durable for those high 'finger nail' traffic areas? And is it permanent ie no going back? I do like options! I realise it is quite easy to remove all these trim parts ( having fitted a PO-40 and a VLine unit in mine) but was it straight forward stripping each piece down to the bare trim as I can see the cup holder wasn't? I have seen some use vinyl wrap ( carbon fibre effect) and cut it around the metal chrome trim on the gear selector gate with a scalpel, but it looks like you have managed to remove this? so many questions but TIA paul m
  8. should be simple enough to straighten up, it sometimes happens when a (not very good) wheel alignment is carried out, they should ensure steering wheel is in the 'neutral' posistion before making any ajustments and then make sure it is still like it afterwards! paul m.
  9. Someone ( not me or anyone I know!) is selling a PDF version ( will get emailed to you I guess) on eBay for a tenner! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lexus-LS400-XF10-XF20-1989-2000-Workshop-Service-Repair-Manual/283360593916?hash=item41f99b87fc:g:vBkAAOSwnipWbqaR dunno if it covers your car but only just been listed. paul m.
  10. ""Anyway I bit the bullet and bought a pair off ebay, very similar to the ones Lee kindly advised, fan on etc (£24.99) yeah I'm guessing there not certified as road legal like the £150 ones but I installed them very easily everything fits inside compartment and no errors or problems so far so good. "" Think you'll find that even the '£150' LED's do not conform to EEC regs and are not for road use! Paul m.
  11. Found this on the US Lexus owners club. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-2nd-gen-2006-2013/755501-changing-front-turn-signals.html it is not a daunting job as you may think. If you have parking sensors or ACC then there may be more electrical connections than shown here.
  12. I think because you have to remove trim, covers, air filter box and washer bottles etc the manual states Dealer Only. I personally have not done one but check this IS220 post, not a million miles different I guess? Paul m.
  13. Welcome to the fold fella, it's great that you are taking on this 'old girl' and gonna tackle the little niggles that the previous owner let slide, gives the car a little boost every time it changes hands. paul m.
  14. Yes, agree a Monkey is a fair bit of dosh but I didn't want to put any Sort of aftermarket Chinese triple Din or Tesla type thing in. I usually use a 6" TomTom for nav ( mostly in HGV's ) but if Google Maps and a super compatable music stream can be got on the exsisting IS screen/ML system then happy days. like I said early days yet but hopefully all good. paul m.
  15. Obviously it's not the fuse for that circuit or 90% of the wiring as the other two indicators are working. So Have to start with the lamp ( bulbs Grow and lamps glow!) in that position because if it is a 'filiment' type lamp it does have the possibility of failing and then working again. This is because if the broken filiment manages to remake again ( quite possible in a moving vehicle going over speed humps for example!) then the lamp will appear to be good and work! But it is unlikely to last very long, having said that indicators are only actually ON for 50% of the time they are used!!!!!! paul m.
  16. "Android 8.1 will be rolled out in early February" OK , so does this mean the 'full fat' version of Netflix will work then or do I still need to try and get the 'mobile' version? Or will that not work until 8.1 also? Do you recommend any other Apps that are suitable and worthwhile? Cheers paul m.
  17. I have just installed the GROM VLine V2 into my 250. Quality bit of kit and ancillaries. (Negative connection on battery removed) First I removed passenger footwell under-dash panel ( 4-5 pull clips at front edge and two locating spigots at the back and disconnect footwell LED) Then passenger side knee airbag unit removed but not electrically disconnected, two 10mm bolts on left, 1 on right side. Next, panel holding "passenger air bag isolation switch" was pulled away and switch disconnected. This is the access route I used to locate the new SatNav antenna on top of the dash in the bottom left corner of windscreen. Unit is in fact magnetic and also has a double side sticky pad, I used neither as the unit is quite heavy and with the cable tucked in the bottom of the "A" post And kept real short it stays put. 3 screws along top of glovebox and 2 at bottom corners and glovebox pulls out ( disconnecting light connection). As above I fixed the Vline to the glovebox shelf with the cables exiting through the top of glovebox I drilled a 30mm hole in the removable plastic panel in roof of glovebox as this could if need be, be replaced to negate drilling actual glovebox structure. Note: as shelf is required to be removed for pollen filter change then slack was left in all cables so as to allow for this. Vline microphone is located ( small holder is simply pushed into 'shut line') between radio unit and dash fascia right at the tip of the silver plastic trim for centre consul on drivers side ( basically to the left of my left knee !!) rest of install was as per the GROM Vid Here. Havent had chance to put it through its paces yet but did a firmware upgrade and installed GAPPS, checked Spotify worked ( premium account required) and installed Google Maps. Tried installing Netfix but after installing got a message stating "this app is Not compatable suggest using Mobile Version of Netflix and uninstalling this version" Havent tried that yet! paul m.
  18. +1 on getting OEM plugs from Lexusbirm ( X6 = £80 ) Please do not even think about getting cheaper "OEM" plugs from any multi category sellers on EBay. Lot of counterfeit items about and you don't want 'em in your pride and joy! paul m.
  19. I have just installed a GROM VLine V2 infotainment system into my IS250 to bring it bang upto date ie with Apps like Google Maps (with Voice input) and Spotify. while I had the centre consul trim off I took the car for a spin to ensure all was working fine ( sat nav etc) and noticed that if the connections to the rear of the centre consul are disconnected then the seat blowers are constantly flat out and when connected they behave! So I suggest that you remove centre consul trim ( very easy job!) and check that the black connector is securely in the seat heater switch module. Connector is shown at 0:47 in this Video paul m.
  20. If you do have one of these most excellent motors ( I don't ) would it not be wise to 'invest' in a new rad sooner rather than later seeing as you now know that this problem is virtually unpredictable ( I say noticing ATF in the coolant resivour is too late, damage may already be done). Imagine how you would feel if it was to happen to your pride and joy after you were privy to this info, I would kick my self for days!!! And No I am not a supplier of LS rads! paul m.
  21. Using my TomTom through roadworks ( it shows length of works in miles) indicates my average speed as well as current speed. The speed cameras will have a tolerance so will not actually record a car until over this tolerance ( commonly thought to be 10% + 2mph, so a limit of 50 will be 57). Any corrections welcome from learned sources! So using my TomTom I usually travel at 52-53 mph and this shows at 54-55 on cars dash speedo, (due to the fact that all car speedos actually over state your speed to err on the safe side) so if you are travelling at 49-50 ( on your car speedo) it may well look like I am 'flying' past. This is not done in a wreckless manner but I find sitting behind traffic at '50' then if you just follow the car in front invariably you look down and your doing 45! ( which is actually about 41-42!!) paul m. stands back and waits for flack.....
  22. Vehicle checker here. https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/ultra-low-emission-zone/vrm-checker-ulez And on 25/10/21the zone will be extended out to the North & South Circular Road!!!! paul m.
  23. Agreeded on the expectation to find blemishes on a 9-10 year old car but black shows them up all too easily! And the feedback from the seller obviously wasn't very encouraging so good to walk away, if it don't feel right then it prob ain't right! keep searching as these cars do tend to be well kept by their appreciative owners so you will find a good one. Note Lexus Alloy wheels of that era are a known weak point and if not already refurbished then you will probably expect to have to do them Ps Did you note down the reg? paul m.
  24. Thinking outside the box here! Lexus is renowned for being a ( if not the) most reliable brand, so to have in house recovery/breakdown available all around the country ( prob Every dealership will need at least two) would be a large financial commitment that may/may not get fully utilised, so like a lot of services it gets tendered out. paul m.
