MOT No Problems
Texas replied to Bluesman's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club
"" goodness only knows what we will do then. "" At MOT time Pace up and down, biting your nails and praying to whatever godly figure works for you like the rest of us...... cheers paul m. -
Not sure if it's possible but is there a way of locking the doors so they cannot be opened from the outside while you are in the car? Reason I ask is that driving back from London after a Night shift just now I stopped in the Service Area for forty winks and wanted to lock car while asleep for obvious reasons. Locking the car with the remote fob did lock doors but alarm went off shortly after as I was detected as an intruder! Also if car is locked and fob is in proximity to car then I guess doors can be opened from outside! Any suggestions? paul m.

Check that All Earthing straps are back in place and clean/secure. terminals of these straps can get contaminated with oily fingers on reinstallment and sometimes they (the earth connections) are not treated with the importance that they will serve. paul m.

MOT No Problems

I can see that MOT time is gonna be a lot less stressful now I got a Lexus unlike Years gone by with Fords & Vauxhall's. I still got a Mondeo to nurse through it every year but that's more of a challenge than a necessity. paul m. -

On my IS250 'MENU' button on dash, then 'MAP DVD' to bring up the info screen but Do Not press 'EJECT' if DVD is behind fascia. But suggest checking your owners manual. paul m.- 1 reply

Electric Windows
Texas replied to lexusis220's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
Don't forget that when initialising or re-learning windows after a battery dis-connect you must use the switch for each window and not try and do it from the drivers switch panel posistion. paul m. -
The MK II IS had 30 (Standard ), 60 & 90 second options in LPS ( Lexus Personal Settings) Hopefully, and I don't see why not, yours should be the same. Correction: This is not so much 'Welcome' lights ( coming on with remote keyfob) but 'Goodbye' lighting, for when you actually leave the car after use! No actual 'Welcome' option listed.

The OEM battery (Panasonic) in my non-hybrid IS lasted until the 11 year mark and this is quite a common point in which they are failing, so 4-5 does seem on the low side for a ( non-cranking) hybrid to me! If it was a Panasonic That failed on you then I would be looking for another 'problem' that caused it to. paul m.

Wait til the rains come! ( won't be long we are in England!) and it might subside alternatively get in there with a hose pipe as try to rinse any possible salt residue away. Could be a sticking caliper slide pin not allowing the pads to fall away from disc after a braking event, might be good idea to get these pins greased at next service as a special because it is not a point in any service schedule. ( the IS250 is prone to sticking slide pins and Lexus will normally recommend changing caliper @ £300+) Paul m.

It doesn’t fit🤔
Texas replied to Tinonline's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club
Almost 20 years for a 'moving' part exposed to hot coolant/steam with a critical rubber component ain't bad in my book. £35 instead of £42 is a bonus but I agree £25,£20 or £15 would be better still! But you know it's gonna fit and might last for another 20 Years!!!!! Can't see QH or FirstLine coming close in that sort of quality ( something gotta give for the lower prices) that's if they fitted!! Paul M. -
When the switch is operated ( might need a second person to help) does the screen wash pump sound like it is running somewhere? If not then yes fuse may be gone as the pump was full of ice and motor stalled causing fuse to blow. If yes then pipes/jets are prob frozen, small bore plastic hose and metal jets will be more susceptible to freezing than the actual reservoir. paul m.

Didn't know how true it would be when I said 'Man after my own heart' I have two old jap bikes that need some TLC (when I have time!!!) 1982 (from new in the crate) Yamaha IT465j 1984 (Italian import) Suzuki DR600s And regarding steam trains I service them all over the country with a 20,000 litre 8 wheeled water bowser! paul m.

Man after my own heart, car mechanics ain't brain surgery! If I think I can tackle a job then I will do hours of 'homework' trying to find out everything possible on said subject and then decide if The benefit out weighs the effort. There are very few jobs I won't tackle, I have built double storey extension on my house, done a loft conversion, detatched garage and just knocked through diner/kitchen wall and fitted new kitchen! Maintain all (5) cars at my home and over the years have amassed tools for every trade to achieve the above. It is real sense of satisfaction when you can stand back and look at your achievements. I like working on cars and as all the hard work as all ready been done by the research and development department when they designed the car and it can be really straightforward sometimes ( depending of manufacture of course- Fiat and Lexus on my fleet, so both extremes of quality and build there!) so best of luck putting your hard earned knowledge and effort into making this new project something to be proud of, even non-petrol heads will take a second look when she's all up together and shiny! cheers Paul m. ps just noticed that you say it has been stood for 5+ years! So bearing that in mind I think the cam belt needs to be on your list of things to do. Service life of most is between 60-80,000 or 10 years,
