  1. If the 250 layout is the same as the ISF ( and it prob is) then a few boys over in the ISF forum have had a nightmare with the rear pipes going rusty and no adjacent unions to make job easier!
  2. If it’s ‘just’ a service then stipulate the car does not leave the garage ( take pic of your mileage when dropping it off) and if it does then you need to be informed and will be in attendance.
  3. You don’t need luck, it’s a Lexus.......
  4. Examples here. https://www.eurocarparts.com/search/Headlight restore
  5. Fingers crossed for you!
  6. Yes but for how long? Hopefully a keeper and the new owner will get her back to health! But watch this space as they say.
  7. You say you have replaced drivers switch panel, was this with a new one or a known good one or a unknown second hand one? and have you rechecked all connections to it and associated fuses especially if you never disconnected battery when replacing this switch.
  8. Karl prob wants to pay for the car with a money transfer and it will be picked up by a courier! 🙄
  9. Lexus power windows need to be ‘reset’ if the system looses its power supply ie battery swap, the reset entails the use of each windows associated switch to open it half way and close it fully and keep (switch) in closed position for a few seconds after it has closed. This then allows all windows to work from drivers switch position. Your problem of windows not working from their own buttons is not normally what happens if power is lost! Firstly I would dis-connect the battery - (negative) connection for a few minutes to force a reset to be required for window system and keep my fingers crossed! Note: I am not sure on your model of car but you may lose any personal settings you have input for other systems doing this ‘reset’, please check before!
  10. If you can stomach their hourly rate ( or better still DIY) get the calliper pins greased and known you be free as piece of mind for your new ride.
  11. The auto gearbox won't use the higher gears until it (gearbox ECU) deems that it is upto sufficient temperature, but this shouldn't account for 'sluggishness' ( if that's what you are saying) when used from cold, with a car that has a large lump of an engine such as this V6 then it is good practice to not 'push' it until sufficiently warmed up. Is this something that has stated recently or has it always been like this? just re-read and you state 'struggles to move', have you dis-counted binding brakes?
  12. I am no expert in the remedy of faults in diesels especially the IS220 ( and it does have more than it’s fair share of faults!) I would say you have been lucky upto now ( prob due to your above average extended use) with the amount of problems you have had but now it has caught up with you. Yes, everything is fixable, but the first problem is Knowing What to fix when presented with irregular running symptoms, and then it’s the Cost/Viability to fix. Your comment about having to ‘leave the Lexus brand’ is a shame because you have had prob the worst car to ever wear a “L”badge and had a fair few good years from it, have/would you consider a petrol? As the IS250 is without doubt the best car I have had since passing my test in 1981. Note: I also am retired and would not run a DERV car if you gave me one! As I only do about 2,000 miles a year now.
  13. Also bear in mind that this time of year ( in UK right now anyway) there are very few dry days and every time you get in car with wet shoes then all that moisture has got to actually go somewhere when you put heater on and dry them out!
  14. Technically they are Not headRest’s but head Restraints for whip-lash protection in the event of a collision, I for one would find it quite Un-comfortable to drive with my head ‘resting’ on it.
  15. Very strange! Either the person who listed it copy-pasted some specs from a IS or it has indeed got some wood in it from an IS for some reason and it is real wood, highly lacquered and supplied by Yamaha, the piano makers (not the motorbike sector!) just looked and if it’s the White one for 27 bags then ‘no wood in there’
  16. +1 on making sure a plug/loom has not been missed out as there are a lot of them! Especially if it falls Back into rear of dash space. Also the connection on the side of the unit has got the same plug configuration ( should not have been designed like it!) as one of the ones that go in the bottom row so check these have not been reversed.
  17. ‘Mini LS’ ...like it!, never drove a LS personally but I have never heard a bad word said against them really.
  18. He’s right! It’s just the ridiculous Lexus Labour Rates, those nice biscuits & coffee gotta be paid for somehow!
  19. Not for sell by me ( or anyone I know) but this LS430 is up for sell near me and it seems to be an incredible amount of top quality car for not a lot of money! https://www.southwestlexus.co.uk/cars/lexus/ls/430v8auto430/258500/ I know it's not a 400 but It is nice....No? paul m.
  20. All the best with your search, but do a search in this forum for a seller of LS's in the Birmingham area who has got history with trading standards ( to say the least!) and therefore to steer clear of! Paul m.
  21. Sorry to say but I think you will find that the above is over 2 years ago and 'JoshMaffers' only posted 2 times and I expect that the IS220 is long dead and it was very prob the head gasket!
  22. So...Why did Lexus quote him £850 then, was it because he might have mentioned not having the time to do it his self? But if it is out there on their own site how can they come up with a higher price? Incredulous! paul m.
  23. Gotta say I went there when searching for my SE-L and the one I was after was describe as immaculate But it was far from it when I got there ( over 2 hours drive each way!) the paint needed a lot of TLC and the front bumper was held on with less fixing than it should have had! Hope this is a lot lot better. But I guess that’s car sales talk! Pinch of salt and all that, you really got to do the leg work and stand in front of them, time consuming I know but your idea of immaculate and someone else’s ( selling it!) are two different things!
  24. No denying the above 'How to' is a excellent one but please, please do not work near/under a 1.6 tonne car on the Jack alone. If it's Hydraulic then your hand/foot damage/loss is relying on a tiny rubber 'o' ring or if OEM then the nylon bush in the screw mechanism! Always try to use something solid ie Wood/concrete block or better still axle stand to support the car but leave jack in place. As for 'pushing back' the caliper pistons then I use one of these. Inexpensive and works a treat.
