    Firstly make sure your battery is in 100% tip top condition, any doubts then charge fully/replace if more than say 5 years old as a failing battery can throw up all sorts of seemingly un-connected faults, also having had the dash cam fitted then the interior lights may have been ON during the install unless they disconnected the battery! And this may have pushed an aging battery just over the edge!

    On my Mondeo if AC is used then engine fan runs constantly, I guess the theory is that you have AC on because it is hot and as the compressor puts extra load on engine so cooling fan(s) can assist. So I would only be concerned if it ran with AC off.

    Just remembered the only other negative of the 250......the boot space, while quite large, is not very practical for two reasons 1, the rear seat backs do not fold down forward increasing the capacity if no rear passengers are on board. It is a true saloon car after all. 2. Although the space inside the boot is quite large the ‘opening’ you have to put the stuff through is not! I recently struggled to get two ( not massive ) suitcases in there.

    The 220 has got a poor history engine wise and to pay to put more uumph into it is gonna push that head gasket to failure point sooner rather than later!

    Those Toolstation ones are ‘Galvanised Iron’ according to spec but I would try and find some Stainless Steel ones or they will surely rust where they are going to be placed.

    Family car you say? Be aware that the IS is not very roomy ( to say the least) in the rear seats. Prob the only negative I have to say about my 250. And, as mentioned above, if you do go for the Manual box ( not recommended in a Lexus really )the Road Tax is a lot more!

    Not 100% reliable 100% of the time! when it works it’s ace but when it don’t connect to my phone hotspot it’s a pain and I can’t wait to Fanny around with it and just drive without using it!

    Found this info in the manual and it states something about 'outside temps' and ' not a malfunction' so does this make any sense as I do not know what your outside temp is tight now and this might be the cause of the system not operating how you think it should.

    I would dis-connect battery again ( I know you’ll have to reset windows etc again) as it may have been done with some arcing/voltage spikes by garage and this is a easy no cost first option.

    So it was 'in the garage' for what exactly? If it was for a wheel bearing for example then totally not connected to this fault but it it had a battery dis-connect or a service ( cabin filter change without putting system into 'recirculate' before opening filter housing ) could cause problems.

    Say to say but yes I guess there are quite a few DERV IS's out there being broken that have lots of sound parts (apart from the engine!)

    To check wheather it's the ballast or bulb, you could have swapped NS with OS bulb to ensure its 'only' the bulb that's failed. See you have ordered replacement bulbs now so hopefully it is that, and do you intend changing both for new as I guess the ones in there are the same age?

    You should be able to turn screen off with 'DISP' button or similar.

    “The only way is to fit a tyre with a higher aspect ratio so for example a 225/50 tyre would give an increased sidewall height to 125mm from 90mm but then you may run into whether these tyres are recommended on the rims.” Will this affect the speedo in the car if it takes its info from the gearbox increasing the rolling wheel diameter?

    You know you are responding to a 7 year old post!, I’d like to think the poster got it sorted or sold it but failed to update us! Note: this was his first and only post!

    How old is the battery you have in the car right now, if your car is a ‘57 plate then it could quite possibly have the OEM battery ( a black top Panasonic make), if it is then you have done well with it, if not then there should be a date stamp somewhere on the battery and that is the first thing I would investigate to ensure is 100% for your (electric) power steering problem. Note: ensure battery terminals are nice and tight as the PS will draw a large current and if slightly loose then this will limit current and show up as a fault.

    If you can go to a MOT testing centre that does not carry out work, ie a Local Authority MOT test station then there is absolutely no chance of any ‘up selling’. It’s going to cost the official rate ( £50 iirc) but at stated above cheap ain’t always inexpensive! note: it’s also good to see that the following‘Advisories’ are dying out (wtf could you do about it anyway, it was like that from the factory!) Engine cover, undertrays and outer sill covers fitted Under-trays fitted obscuring some underside components
