  1. Just had a look at that link you posted for the £4K SE-L and it was looking good, mileage,options,colour............But then I spotted it.....a handbrake lever.........which means........Manual gearbox! Unless you are dead set on getting a manual gearbox then I along with others on here highly reccomend getting the automatic version, couple of reasons, firstly the RFL or car tax on a manual box IS250 is horrendous compared to the auto that has exactly the same size/power engine, ( have you checked the cost, I think it's £565 for the Manual and £305 for the Auto?) and after all said and done it's a Lexus and I for one want some sort of smoothness when driving and to be 'stirring' gears is gonna take the edge off of that. I highly reccomend you drive both before committing. Paul m.
  2. You will find something to your liking I'm sure as you are prepared to travel afar, At least this current situation has prevented you from owning prob the worst car ever to wear the L badge. You could very well end up with a proper result/bargain due to it. Leather is prob more common than cloth in actual fact for the interior and call me bias but I reckon that black is the 1st choice as it ages well and is easier to maintain ( prob just doesn't show the dirt so easily in all honesty). note: the ML audio only comes with the MultiMedia system option that will include sat nav/AC controls/phone connectivity/service info/voice control & DVD video play back. For model years/specs check this here. https://www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/lexus/is-2005/ paul m.
  3. Have you checked the US Owners site? As there are a lot more VLine installs over there and in particular the ISF section ( basically same car! - electrically anyway) note, I have seen this prob on a YooToob vid ( off to find link)
  4. Won’t even bother clicking on it then and giving him another hit/cent!
  5. Check out “LeatherAssist” I got some black leather restorer balm ( recommended by someone on here) for my sons 335i seats and I was well impressed, it was black though which I think is a bit more robust and forgiving in vehicles but they might have something you can use. paul m.
  6. No it ain’t ‘Foolproof’, When I first installed mine I managed to end up with no functioning VLine and the Hazard lights on the car were going constantly! The fault was that there is a VLine connection that I fitted into an OEM connector on the rear of the unit (about half way up on the side) but it should have gone in a socket at the very bottom of the unit, what threw me was that when fitting the VLine ( according to instructions) you should remove an OEM plug-plug in a VLine plug and then the OEM plug you removed should go into a VLine Socket, but on this bottom connection there was not an OEM plug in there so the VLine socket does not get anything! Also by chance ( bad design by grom ) the plug used actually fits into this wrong connection! What I would do (did) is to remove everything and get it back to original and working correctly ( electrically, Don’t have to reinstall all dash/trim) And then install again completely from the start. paul m.
  7. “So let’s hear the proven facts” If you were interested in wanting to find out more on this guy then a search of this site will bring up the facts and people who have been ‘wronged’ by this man in the past ( adjusting ad’s after sale to remove certain info) and I for one would definitely want to be warned of any dodgy ( proven ) dealer if I were looking for a certain car. It sort of sounded like you were almost defending him! And if you do actually go and view/deal with this guy then best of luck and the caveat is you have knowledge of his history
  8. Ok, that was the equipment that was used and mighty fine it should be, but...and it’s a big ‘but’ the weak point In the system is how competent was the operator, I say that because you have a problem that this equipment could/should have picked up and with use rectified the fault but it has not!
  9. Do a search for Grom VLine2 and see it that is an option?
  10. You MUST put your AC system into Recirc mode before trying to remove the filter, whatever you do DoNot try to force the thing open to get to the filter as you will cause £££££'s worth of damage to the plastic flap mechanism within the filter housing see here. If you following the above instructions and it is still not opening then alas it looks like someone has tried before you and sadly may have broken it already!
  11. Guys ..can someone please let MerchantOf Venice know the ( current !) trading name of the ( convicted) dodgy dealer of LS's in the Brum area in case he is unaware? paul m.
  12. That XK jag they 'did up' and then subsequently gave away in a competition never was on the road for long ( according to DVLA records anyway). Even so it is easy to watch ( and pick holes in!) but I'm watching more YooToob restoration Vids than Telly at this moment in time anyway! Honda CBX, Ford Cortina MKIII, ( Not Asia produced crap whereby they reverse 'fix' an Amstrad Stereo they 'find' on a river bank that was sprayed in muriatic acid the day before!) The CBX restore ( not complete yet and upto part 42!) is by a German guy ( YouTube Channel." ZAMsChannel " ) and I cannot understand a word he speaks but fascinating to watch, highly reccomended but your Mrs will not understand why you are watching a program that you can't understand. paul m.
  13. Note: the window reset technique above has got to be done on each windows own switch before the switches in the drivers panel will work. also if you have a moonroof, that will need re-learning as well.
  14. I was just saying if you do not access the car then after 14 days the keys will not be detected anyway!
  15. Each and every key you want to turn off, as it is the battery in that key that you are turning off when you do the button press & hold. Pressing any button on the fob after will 'wake' it up again. Note, after about 2 weeks of no use the car will not detect the key fob automatically when approached and you will have to press a button on the fob.
  16. I have ‘upgraded’ the OS to 8.1 and run Agama Car Launcher ( Full Version ) as a ‘Skin’ while it makes the UI ten times better it is still very awkwardly at times to navigate and I wouldn’t bet my life on it but when it works it’s ace! Would I get one for my next Lexus ( hopefully ISF ) probably as the OEM system is quite aged now.
  17. No it’s plastic and the temp sensor is a bit awkward to deal with!
  18. If you are thinking of changing the battery in your 250 then have you read this thread? some suppliers might offer you the 'wrong' battery (terminal posistions reversed) and you will have a world of pain if you accidently connect up with crossed polarity! And note the battery should have a plastic 'jacket' around it that holds the temperature sensor for monitoring the charge rate/temp of the battery, so physical battery size is very important.
  19. Yes I feel your pain! I have that prob before and asked Mods for advice but to no avail!
  20. Note, make sure the key fob is well away from car ( not in your pocket) as if it is still in range then it will be activating the comfort access entry system and this will have a current draw!
  21. You should never venture under or near a load ( car ) if it has been lifted by a fluid system ( hydraulic jack ) unless it is propped by solid mechanical means ( axle stands, wooden blocks ) as if not then you are putting your faith in a tiny rubber 'O' ring! See LOLER 98 requirements here https://www.hse.gov.uk/pUbns/priced/loler.pdf. p43 in particular!
  22. Did it have the 30 day/1000 mile complimentary first service which is quite important to clear the engine of the initial factory filled engine oil and any assembly lubricants? Note: Just checked and an oil service is Not included in this 30Day/1000 service- strange as it was on Fords back in the day when I bought New cars! (1980's)
  23. Only real hiccup is the 2015-16 when it went 37,000 miles ( apparently ) without an oil change. Bit excessive but if it is a 'clean' running engine then the oil might have faired OK in that time. And since then every 13k which is fine, so if it runs well and without pumping out any signs of smoke then like you say, after all it is a ( well engineered ) Lexus. One redeeming factor is that these 37,000 miles were done in 10 months so I guess it was a lot of 'straight line' miles unless it was a Taxi or delivering Pizzas! you should use this as a bargaining tool if you go for it!
  24. See note 2 at bottom of page Ref ‘Rotate Tyres’
  25. Really would like to be the proud owner of an ISF,
