  1. There was a Safety recall on this car a few years ago regarding a fuel seal on the engine and if you are in the UK you can check this on the .gov website but if you are non-UK then I am not sure how you can check if this is still outstanding.
  2. Think you’ll find that the ‘Battery’ mentioned every time actually refers to the battery in the key fob being replaced!
  3. Yes in theory! But just make sure you can undo and remove the Fill plug Before you remove the Drain plug! Otherwise you could be stuck not being able to refill!
  4. ‘OCD’ I prefer ‘CDO’ it’s a lot neater alphabetically!😂
  5. Best to get the disc second hand but as far as I can tell 2018-19 is the last disc you will get as they discontinued producing map discs after this as the later nav is SD card based.

  7. There is/was an aftermarket module called a PO40 that you could fit inside the drivers door panel and connect to all the required OEM wires to enable ‘fold on locking’ and vice-versa. Alas the original maker ( a Australian guy) is no longer doing them but you may be able to find an Asian clone. search this forum for ‘PO40’ for more info.

Disconnect battery ( Negative - connection ) for tens minutes to do a soft reset of the volitile memerory in the ECU's if there is a 'real' problem somewhere with the car then the "VSC" will pop back up but for a no cost first action just in case it's a spurious code then it's got to be worth a try!
  9. You haven’t knocked the ECT switch out off PWR if you normally drive with it in PWR mode have you?
  10. I was referring to the junction or connection that Beamish was noting in the centre console area in diagram. glovebox comes out real easy and the left panel by door when removed gets access to bottom of A pillar trim for running cable to roof area.
  11. So what exactly was it you ‘did’? did you fit an after market aerial? If so what kind prey tell and how? And could you have fitted it into the connection point at the centre console area?

  13. The trick is to use it every time you use the car, those fridges would not have lasted anywhere near as long if you had turned them on and off 10 times a week!
  14. Don't forget that the Manual gearbox IS250's have obscene road tax and who wants to be 'stirring' gears in a Lexus anyway? As for the 'Buyers Guide' above, that is generally All that goes wrong with a 250 and you will have to go a long way to find one with ALL those faults! I printed it out and took it with me when 'shopping'! note, un-refurbished original alloy wheels may look terrible but are a good bargaining point and easily sorted ( It was a known problem with the early wheels) paul m.
  15. just checked on that link for Tanya batteries and put in my reg ( on a IS250 ) and it came back with the wrong battery! ( terminals reversed! could easily cause someone a world of pain in connected up with reverse polarity) Even one of the reviews on the page ( JW of Guildford with a IS250) says the terminals were the wrong way round and now his battery connections are stretched tight! Cause Its The WRONG battery...not a good place to buy I feel.

  19. 🤞your new ride does not let you down anytime soon and you lose faith in Lexus, the 220 is the most talked about car ( in the engine section ) with regards to problems mechanically and hopeFully you Can manage to avoid them If you drive it as a DERV with a DPF should be driven!
  20. +1 on all of the above as this car is pretty good at keeping itself together so to speak! Check out the videos on YouTube for the caliper pin greasing as it is not super technical but if unsure then any Indy garage worth its salt should be able to do it with their eyes closed, just check they ain't using Copper Grease! As for the water pump, yes they don't last for ever but changing one out that ain't faulty doesn't sit right with me, when they do start to fail there is usually a tell-tell staining of pink ( from the coolant) under the shaft area on the aluminium casing, so if you check around here on a regular basis you will spot a failing pump early before it fails catastrophically. one maintainance job that can be done very easily is the MAF sensor cleaning, check that also on the toob! paul m.

Excellent choices, so much so that I have compiled them into a playlist on Spotify ( along with all the rest, yet to be heard) for when I actually do get to go out in my 250 and crank up the ML, Nice doing it! By the by I am totally into Melody Gardot at the moment, amazing vocals and an even more amazing back story on how she 'got into' music in the first place at the of 19, check it out. paul m.
