  1. Happy day, Cheapest fix you could possibly have for a Lexus I reckon ( removing some oil!) Thanks for coming back and posting the remedy to your problem, hopefully others may benefit if they have similar symptoms in the future. paul m.
  2. Talking of 2-Strokes and Definitely not on the quite side I have a Yam IT465j in the back of my garage waiting for the day I have time to give it a bucket load of TLC, had it from new in the crate back in May 1982....£1256 with a spare aluminium fuel tank ( unused to date!) worth a fair bit more now apparently! paul m.
  3. The 250 exhaust was mild steel from the factory as opposed to stainless steel, admittedly very heavy gauge and this accounts for the very quite nature of the car, a SS system would allow a lot more noise to escape as it would be made with a far thinner gauge material, That exhaust looks very much in the same condition as mine and unless its actually leaking anywhere then it should not be a worry, yes it will go eventually because it will rust and the favourite site is near the crutch of the 'Y' section, but it may just look a lot worst than you think. Also could be a possible bargaining point!
  4. Spec/Model trim level should be identifiable on drivers B pillar near door lock Nader pin.
  5. +1 on above advice as this document calls it something different but still code 1G0
  6. Like I mentioned above I had the pleasure to meet your dad in his garage, the very same garage the 250 & ISF lived in to purchase d SF one 250 parts and felt he was a very knowledgeable and pleasant person, sorry for your loss but don’t lose your memories. paul m.
  7. Here is a snippet from the brochure of the options that were available.
  8. A MOT should have picked up ( Advisory or Fail) any wear or play in any of the critical running gear components if you have had one recently.
  9. In ACC mode the increments are 5 mph and in normal mode it is 1 mph.
  10. Normal Lexus embalm for a IS shown below and then an IS fitted with ACC.
  11. You are right but this print out has the figures in Red Or Green and it looks like the REVISION sheet had actually been made worst as it now has some Red Figures!
  12. +1 on going somewhere else, ATS may have Gucci alinement machine but the results are only gonna be as good as the gorilla working it! If you can feel something is not right when driving down the road then it is way out as a slight mis-alinement will not be felt and these machines can detect a fleas todger's difference!
  13. Just sent you a PM regarding brochures.
  14. Forward facing microwave transmitter is not physically impaired in any way you can see is it? Note: The Cruise Control system can also be used in ‘standard’ mode and you have not inadvertently entered this mode have you?
  15. MM includes ( I might have missed summat!) DVD playback ( when Park Brake is On) Maintenance information & Dealer info Calendar with Memos Hands Free Phone connectivity Voice command for interior equipment Air ConControls Rear View Camera Display Oh and SatNav!
  16. Also at that mileage it could ( if not succumbed to the infamous " front tyres worn on inside edge" advisory- can't check mot history at present) still be wearing the oem rubbers! And now at 13+ years old they could be past their best to say the least. I recall that they were thinking about giving tyres a 'lifespan' until a MOT failure point, say 7 years from manufacture date, not sure if it actually came to fruition.
  17. I won’t be phoning them as I am not actually in the market for a 250 as I already have a peachy one ( ISF then you’re talking!) but wanted a discussion on the pro/con points.
  18. Ok...so if I drive like Miss Daisy I can get excess of 40 ( indicated) MPG so Avg of 1330 per year then that could amount to less than 3-4 tanks of fuel! So I’m with you on ‘Not good’ so far as petrol goes stale and turns nasty in the process ( sticky, slimy & Staines like a varnish)
  19. Looks sweet, but don’t understand and have never seen before ( on a 250 anyway) the MOT advisory in 2010 ‘play in top of steering column’ ! But was not advised 3,000 miles later at the next MOT or ever since!
  20. There is a SE-L on AT right now ( no link added as it won’t be there for ever!) that is up for top dollar money because it as only got 17,300 miles on for a ‘57 plate, So as the title says is this good or possibly not so good for a 13/14 year old top quality motor? ( can’t check details as no reg visible) paul m. Note: weirdly it Has got Moonroof but no multimedia package!
  21. That is deffo a lot of car for not a lot of money, mot history is fine ( tyres...well they are made of rubber and wear out!). Alloys look brilliant so must have been refurbished I guess. And the mileage is about right ( all adds up on MOT history) and the recalls appear to have been done. Only reservation I got is that your wife will end up with an ‘Auto’ only driving license which could be a real bind later! Not that I’m suggesting you get a manual 250 as I would not recommend that to anyone.
  22. Exactly!....dealers are very frugal with the truth to say the least when it comes to 'condition' anyway and you have really got to stand in front of it to see if it comes anywhere near your own version of immaculate!
