  1. “how bad can it be.” Well…You have a clutch for a start, that can (and will wear out sooner or later!) be abused! And, for me anyway, I don’t want to be ‘stirring’ gears to get around, I rather waft, after all it is a Lexus. And the top gear is not suited to our UK upper speed limit, I think you’ll find that 70 mph at civilised revs sits between 5th and 6th which is a bit annoying!
  2. 🚒 I hear a ‘Woo Woo’ noise sometimes also!!!😂😂😂😂😂 Sorry, couldn’t resist…..I’ll get me coat and be gone…..
  3. Same boat here, bought a 2007 (38k miles!) and only got 48k on it now 5 years later all fully functional with an impeccable MOT history ( apart from a few previous advisories for tyres!! There’s a thing!) Car will prob outlive me….other nuggets permitting🙄
  4. Wonder what colour it says it is on Log Book?
  5. Think you’ll find that the last disc (DVD) produced was the 2017-18 version.
  6. Warning Graphic Content😳 Not for the faint hearted, ( Self Tappers- Oh the horror!)😮
  7. For those who do/enjoy that sort of thing… Enjoy
  8. Battery should be a known 100% good Before trying to rectify any ( possible) electrical problems, as this car does tend to be picky on operating voltages. Just like my daughters Fiat 500, the first signs of a weak battery and the EML comes on along with a Red ‘Have Power Steering Checked’ and like the IS it has an electric power steering system so can draw a high current.
  9. Did you notice it was RHD?….so Not in MerraKa! Actually in Perth, Western Australia 😀
  10. What even if I don’t go out in the wet ( on purpose if I can help it!) and as for when it’s less than 3 degrees then I will take the work car ( 21 year old Mondeo 😀) because everyone else is not gonna be wearing CC’s 😂
  11. Not my ‘cup of tea’ and I hate to think of the costings!!!! But underneath it is a good old 250, same as mine😂😂😂
  12. Need to find a Lexus guru who is Not currently working in a dealership, gotta be one out there! And using this forum has got to be one of the best ways possible. I do like to thing that you have well searched the US owners forums as there seems to be a lot more on the road over there.
  13. That might be a premium rate number that your provided may have blocked for you? ( could be stupid like upto £7:50 per minute)
  14. Things go horribly wrong horribly fast when it’s wet and that’s when you want as much ‘help’ as poss! So +1 on the rain rating being right up there on specs.
  15. Tim, your profile states your 250c is 2009, so is that a disc (DVD media update) based system or a HD (SD card media) one as this is about the time when it changed, bearing in mind your car was built in Japan way before it was registered in the UK.
  16. Far too many variables as to which tyre is ‘Best’ in my opinion, as long as it last a good while ( haaaa mine will prob Rot before they Wear out!), and They do not present me with any ‘surprises’ when used normally I’ll be content, again my Normal will not be same as everyone else’s Normal so like I said far to many variables and even a survey from a reputable source just adds fuel to the fire. ( That’s just my two penny worth and I’ll say no more about tyres again, promise because I just got 2 Dunlop’s for £240🙄😂
  17. Today was the day the boys at the local garage had to lift up the petticoat on the ‘old girl’ and rummage around in her nether regions to to allow her to sit on my drive for another 12 months!!! ( at approx 2500-3000 miles per year, she could out live Me!) Note to self, “try and use the best car you’ve ever owned MORE!!” And not the 21 year old Mondeo, talking of Mondeo, it’s last MOT had a HC of 198 ppm 🤔
  18. If there is ( or gearbox ECU thinks there is) a problem it will not let you do any potential damage by using the ‘flappy paddles’ the ECU is between them and the gearbox and should over-ride the paddles.
  19. “You know ( now, or very soon ) it makes sense” to opt for a slightly more expensive 250 over a cheaper 220 as the 220 may cost you dearly in the long term and the 250….very unlikely to👍
  20. IS gearbox solenoid problem discussed here and fluid change appears to have sorted it!
  21. If they (Lexus) are pointing towards Gearbox Solenoids then get the error codes in writing and start with the cheapest things first, ie atf change. check this thread
  22. Lexus parts direct ( IIRC is the on-line section of Lexus Swindon!) can do a Battery for the 250 for £78+£6 p+p So the dealers where you are should’nt be a million miles different 😂😂😂
  23. I’m getting two Dunlop Sport Maxx RT 2 on the rear ( 245/45 17 95Y) tomorrow for £237. Spent about 30mins searching and decided that was about right.
  24. FYI New Bosch 068 S4 can be got for about £84 here. https://www.tayna.co.uk/car-batteries/bosch/s4026/
