  1. I have now checked and the cheaper prices are for an essential service, but the dealership concerned will still stamp the service book. I now have a decision to make as to which service - full Lexus, or Lexus essential - I opt for. The Essential service will comprise: year four and year 5 to include oil filters oil screenwash airfilter pollen filter brake fluid hybrid health check Any advice would be appreciated, thanks
  2. Thanks Phil, very good advice - why didn't I think of that! Anyway, will check as you suggest. Thanks.
  3. Further to my post of 18 April, I have investigated further the cost of future services for my Lexus IS 300H. A four year service (interim) would cost £175 at one Lexus dealership, yet cost £275 at another Lexus dealership only 40 miles away from each other. A five year service (full) at the same dealerships would be £355 at one, and £485 at the other. Interestingly, a two year extended warranty would cost the same at both dealerships, namely £795. It rather looks like I will be changing my dealership!
  4. Thanks Phil, that is very helpful
  5. I have just been quoted £1345 for a fixed price Lexus service plan for the next three years. Breakdown as follows: Seems a bit steep, but what do others think?
  6. Thanks for the advice. I have found that Command+F (on a mac) allows me to input either a page number or a search topic. 🙂
  7. I have downloaded this and have it on my desktop for reference. One thing I find so annoying is that there is no search facility, or that you click on the topic that you want and then go to that topic. You have to scroll through the manual until you get where you want to be. Maybe I am missing something, or there is a way without having to scroll through?
  8. I find that I have to apply a fair bit of pressure to the foot break, but even then it will still move a bit. Like you, I have an inclined driveway. I think the trick is to apply the footbrake before moving the selector to P, but would welcome views on what is the best way.
  9. Which model is this?
  10. I too find the lights on my IS300H inadequate and no where near as good as the xenon lights on my old Saab 9-3 Ttid Aero. If there is a way to improve the lights I would be very interested.
  11. Auto on permanently also AC as this avoids the seals drying out.
  12. In the V5 that comes with the vehicle. Failing that, on the service history booklet?
  13. Just checked the manual. Appears my model does not have this auto function:
  14. Im also very interested in this. Is it possible?
  15. Eureka I did it😃!
  16. DIY is far too fiddly for me. Will get Lexus Chester to change it to 5 flashes at my upcoming service
  17. Thanks for all the advice 🙂
  18. Now using the foot break on my drive, and no problem in engaging gear 🙂 One other query. I now notice that there is a distinct "creep forward" when I engage the parking break. Is this normal?
  19. Thanks to all for the advice. I was led to believe that the vehicle could be just left in park when not in use. As this is my first automatic car I did not know better. I will, of course, now get into the habit of always engaging the parking brake before switching the engine off.
  20. I have noticed on my IS300H that when the vehicle is on an incline there is resistance when trying to engage gear. My drive is on an incline and when reversing out the garage (on level ground) there is no resistance in engaging reverse gear. When I stop on my drive (which has an incline), there is resistance when I try to re-engage reverse gear. The resistance is very apparent and a degree of force is required to move the gear selector. Does anyone else have experience of this?
  21. I have not noticed this problem but my dashboard and binnacle are black anyway.
  22. This is a decision that I will have to make in a years time, but will almost certainly extend the warranty. Peace of mind, breakdown cover for two vehicles and monthly payments make this attractive to me.
  23. Thanks Peter and Matt. Food for thought
