  1. We’ll miss your great contributions here. Good luck!
  2. Great! Longevity is the final question. My HIDs are originals and so have lasted 11 years. Will these last at least 5 years. They ought to, right?
  3. Great! Thanks. So if they pass MOT then that makes them road worthy I’d assume. What does the lack of an e-mark mean?
  4. Do these off road bulbs pass MOT? And do police pull over?
  5. Not sure of the implications and I don’t have detailed understanding of the science. But I can tell you what research has taught me. “AGM batteries are designed to require 14.6v – 14.8v when performing a full charge from a state of discharge, whereas standard lead acid batteries need 13.8v – 14.4v” Presumably the car is charging the 12v battery at 14.6-14.8v but you have a standard lead acid expecting no more than 14.4v. I prefer the AGM on this basis. But you have presumably had no drastic issues using a standard one. So maybe it’s OK. Thankfully my AGM from LPD was £115 delivered back in June 2020. Sadly, not so cheap last time I looked.
  6. Thought this. And could be, but I’ve ruled it out for now. Changed my 12v in June 2020 when I noticed the car wouldn’t start on some occasions. “Shift lever into P” error message. No clock issues back then, none whatsoever. I notice time keeping issues nowadays, even after a trickle charge back to full. Never say never but I’m not convinced it’s the 12v at this stage.
  7. Not sure. But noticed as of late, mine is not keeping the time accurately. It’s 3-15 minutes wrong (behind) depending how long it’s been since it was last driven. Why are you looking to replace it @Ndoody?
  8. 2013 prone to radio unit failure if swapping 12v battery. Beware!
  9. Update: I opted for the JTEKT part from Amayama Japan. It cost me £55 plus £58 delivery. No customs due. My research showed that JTEKT are a merger of two companies that have been around for circa 100 years, and that merged company is now part of the Toyota Group. My indie mechanic was very impressed with the part quality. I could have got OEM for about £115 but I wanted to give this a shot. If it goes bad soon, I’ll pay for OEM but based on JTEKT’s background, I’m fairly confident all will be fine.
  10. Also replaced a wheel bearing recently. I opted for a JTEKT part from Amayama Japan. It cost me £55 plus £58 delivery. No customs due. 11. Happy with my Goodyear Eagle Asymmetric 6s fitted last week. All 4 corners fitted for £400 at Costco. Had Asymmetric 5s on last time. I put those on in June 2020. They lasted 25K miles. Down to 3mm tread. I remember the transformative change in going from the Nexen (I think it was) that were on the car when I purchased, to the Asymmetric 5s. I was hoping for a similar wow factor and transformation, but there was only little. The 5s that came off last week weren’t as bad as I thought, I guess.
  12. Noticed this on my Is300h this evening. I swear it used to remain closed and I could not pry it open. I had to use the push toggle of the cover, to cause the rubber boot to extend and push the door out. Anyone else seen this?
  13. Thanks for all the help, @Bob King and @Notamech Last question then, please. I see that things like this are important during refitting of TPMS, but I am gathering, these are not needed if buying brand new TPMS sensors? Do new TPMS sensors come with all the washers and components in the below fixing kit, or do we need to buy this in addition? https://lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/product/lexus-is-phase-3-tpms-fitting-kit/ Anyone know the difference between 04423-48010 and 04423-33060? Did you buy that four pack of sensors and use them yourself @Notamech? There seems to be a variety of part numbers out there. The eBay listing you show is 42607-02031.
  14. Thank you. Was getting it back on the rim after easy enough?
  15. Did you gain access to the TPMS without any tyre changing equipment?
  16. Thanks for this. These look like the genuine ones? Can one program this with Tech Stream if garage can’t or won’t do it?
  17. It seems there is a newer part: 42410-30041. I wonder if this is an enhanced and revised part?
  18. Aviva Zero policy. Nov 2023. £475.39 fully comprehensive. Wondering what it’ll be come November this year.
  19. Looking at a non-OEM part. https://www.amayama.com/en/part/jtekt/3dacf027f31csam Anyone heard of JTEKT? They seem to be connected to Koyo which are supposedly a Toyota affiliate. At half the price of OEM, it’s a good price but is it good quality? That is the question!
  20. Thanks! Worth the wait for import. Not long anyway. Is there a rear too? Not sure which part number.
  21. Does anyone know how much wheel bearings would cost? Or part numbers for all 4 corners? Sounds like one of mine has gone. Car is 11 years old this September.
  22. Had a service at Lex-Tek today. While car was on ramp, asked them to look at the grit in rear bumper. Knew it was in there from sounds coming out of tray. Photo below. So much grit. Empty part box for scale.
  23. Thinkware F770 but it’s an old model now. But still getting speed cam updates. Can’t recommend any newer ones as I’ve not tried them. I worry lots of new models come with unnecessary features like cloud storage and probably some AI nonsense. I helped a friend fit a budget Garmin dash cam recently. He had the hardwire kit that cost £20 and as part of that kit, it included a voltage protection setting on the hardwire kit control box. No extras and only £20 for the whole hardwire. Spending serious money on battery protection seems unnecessary in 2024, and comes across as exploitative to me. Manufacturers charging top dollar for extras that aren’t complicated at all!
  24. Would have to be a big hole sadly but a good idea. Considering a 3D printed cover but not got to that.
