  1. Good points….also worth considering that lots of people don’t actually care that much about cars so don’t feel the need to make a statement when choosing colour. Most on the forum would consider themselves ‘car people’ so are a bit more inclined to be brave with colour etc.
  2. I would have thought the opposite. I don’t ever buy a car with the intention of selling and so get what I want, rather than what I think a potential buyer may be looking for in the future…. I would guess that if you only intend on owning for 3 years or so before selling, safe colours may be more of a consideration….
  3. Having served on His Majesty’s submarines for a decade I can say without doubt that it will spend more time in port broken down than at sea. Good riddens too, less chance of it turning into a coffin. Even if it’s new, will be rammed with old Russian tech that will be poorly maintained. The Americans will be all over it like a rash so it’s as good as impotent anyway.
  4. I wonder if I’m the only one that logs on just to see how this thread is going…. 🍿🤣
  5. I too agree, desirable and practical/sensible are two different things!! p.s I will no doubt have got my car cheap due to the colour. It was for sale for months before I was daft enough to buy it. I get loads of comments though because people love the colour but aren’t brave enough to have it on their car!!
  6. I always ran same wheels all year round so can’t comment on choice over winter but 225 feels narrow at the rear. Could always go with a wider rear or just move to winter tyres on the original ?
  7. Their service levels were as good as any I received at silverlink but agree about the venue. As I live 90 mins away I booked a while you wait service and the sales team really wanted the RCF for stock but told them unless they have a track edition it’s a no! Nice team though, I think they previously mentioned Faye and Terry went to Ferrari…..
  8. I think half the problem with the oil change discussion is that so many people have different opinions on it and these muddy the waters. If Lexus are willing to stand by a car getting oil changes every 10k miles for 10 years then should we really doubt them? I would expect that any accelerated wear that would occur as a result of poor lubrication would show itself by then… I get the argument Linas but there are so many factors that effect whether an engine of going to make it to 200k+ miles that it’s hard to pin it on more regular changes.
  9. I was there last Tuesday for the major service and repair. Team still seem fine, though there are a few new faces in the team…. The facility isn’t as nice as at Silverlink though, can’t see the service area for example…
  10. My point is if an issue occurred directly linked to a lubrication related fault, it would make things more difficult?
  11. Particularly whilst the relax warranty is in effect, my car is serviced in accordance with Lexus recommendations by them. In not particularly cynical but could imagine a scenario when another manufacturer would design a service schedule to ensure reliability for the warranty of the car and no longer. With Toyota/Lexus I do think that 10 years is a bit long for them to risk doing that and so just play with the T&Cs of relax to compensate for it. If I took my car to Lexus every 10k miles for a service and to get the warranty topped up, but did a DIY oil change at home at 5k I wonder where I would stand on warranty if I had an associated problem? Suppose I could just neglect to tell them I’ve done the oil change at all….
  12. Lexus Newcastle couldn’t have been more helpful if they tried. I’ve used the warranty once because I had a suspicion the drivers seat rear section heater was playing up. Without question, they put in a request with Lexus HQ and replaced the whole seat back for free. Will have cost a good chunk if I wanted to buy new… I’m not sure of the relationship dealers have with Lexus and how much ‘trust’ is involved. I assume that a dealer recommends that something is/isn’t a warranty repair and then request approval from Lexus UK for authorisation. Having a dealer on side must make all the difference…. I too think that the more you push it, the easier it is. It’s not a dead certainty but dealers and Lexus don’t have the resources to actively manage every single query. I can imagine if you make enough fuss they will attempt to appease you to make the problem go away.
  13. Very simple, I remember my early imports having stickers on them!!
  14. I used to work at Halfords when I was 19-20 and remember a guy jacking up a PT Cruiser. Opened the front door with one wheel in the air and cracked the windscreen!! A truly terrible car, though if I remember correctly it had really comfy and scorching heated seats. Funny how as you get older you appreciate different things!
  15. How have you found the tyres? Managed to drive on them much??
  16. I wonder how the speed conversion is done? I would have thought that by changing the speedo, the odometer would change also…. Perhaps it’s a software thing.
  17. I wish I lived in a castle! The steel doors make me smile, I wonder if a bottle will fit through them….
  18. We have wine ‘rack’ in the kitchen and that will keep the wife going for weeks….I bet nothing in it costs more than £20 each too. My whisky cupboard on the other hand is a bit daft. I’ve fell into the trap of having bottles I don’t want to open…..
  19. I really struggle with peated malt, though know those two well, laphroig in particular. Peating is something I’m close to at the moment so the wife doesn’t appreciate the smell I bring home every night!
  20. Unsurprisingly a good single malt is my tipple of choice, neat or with ice. In the winter I may add some Drambuie to make a rusty nail. I’m currently drinking through the Bladnoch Dragon Series and a 12yo Macallan. I’m in the industry so feel I must do my part to support it! Can’t do pints. Even when I was a sailor it was a struggle. If forced to pints I’ll drink cider. Don’t go anywhere near wine which is ironic, the wife can’t survive without it!!
  21. I wonder why it never caught on….
  22. Wow, I didn’t know that was a thing….
  23. Interesting that my car is a 2018 pre-facelift. I can only assume due to low numbers, time between manufacture and registration can be quite long….
  24. I’m not sure it’s a facelift thing. A believe the press release mentions 2017 as the cut off. It’s in the sticky at the top of the RC section….
  25. I had the Goodyear Assy 6 on my Civic and they were brilliant! Used Assy 3 on the ISF but the 6 is miles better… Ive made the move from Supersports to PS5 and they are also extremely good. I had the PS4S previously and have yet to find the limits of the PS5, even in poor weather. They have been on for around 10k miles and I still have around 4mm at the rear. Saves £200 for a set and although I’m sure they aren’t quite as performance orientated as the PS4/5S, I’ve yet to notice. The car gets a good hammering regularly too. Will fit them again…..
