  1. As someone that lives 90 mins from my nearest dealer, the RCF will be getting a while you wait service in Jan. May go for a wander around other garages outside but can’t be spending all day waiting for the car.
  2. I’m sure last time I had my ISF in at Edinburgh I was sent a video by the dealer.
  3. I too had a Mesa Red ISF, loved it. Not so into bikes so can’t comment on the colour scheme though it certainly looks good!
  4. As an advocate of ceramic coating I would certainly recommend it, though as with most things getting the prep done is the tough part. Took me a good 8hrs prep before I was willing to apply ceramic coating then probably another 8hrs getting it on. It 100% makes cleaning the car easier and the gloss finish is unbeatable. One thing to consider is that PPF and Ceramic coating do different things, don’t expect ceramic coating to stop chips etc. Its a hard surface so will help with mild swirl marks etc but can’t compare to PPF for creating a physical barrier between paint and objects! I’ve had quotes of £1500 to PPF a front end and double that for entire car. Ceramic coating can be done yourself for perhaps £50-100 or £500 be a pro. Marcus
  5. Most certainly am! Why anyone would use anything else is beyond me!! I was converted by the Forensic Detailing Channel on YouTube!
  6. On a recent trip down south I managed a respectable 33mpg cruising down the A1 at 70mph. I did this in Eco mode thinking this is what it’s designed for. It 100% made a difference. I have previously had a suspicion that it does indeed improve my MPG a bit and have out this down to gearbox behaviour and throttle response. The spoiler also stays down up to around 90mph, do we think this contributes also? I’m increasingly using Eco on my commute as the character of the car changes and everything calms down, good for listening to podcasts! Looking at my driving style and the country roads I’m driving, I feel the principle reason I’m seeing an increase is because of the gearbox being more willing to shift up. I was typically getting around 23.5mpg but am now seeing around 25.5mpg. Personally, I don’t feel the RCF is a car that people should be counting the MPG in, it’s never going to be ‘good’ but if you can have some free on a routine drive, why not! I tend to do my spirited driving in sport as the paddles tend to do exactly what I want, find in sport+ it sometimes hangs into gears when I want to shift down etc. Wish you could configure the piped in noise to be on permanently though! Replacement airbox it is I guess!! Marcus
  7. +1 this! I ceramic coated mine and it makes such a big difference! Just snow foam and rinse weekly and use Bilt Hamber once a month or so. Glad you like the spacers, amazing how much difference it makes to the stance. I’ve got Swift Springs on mine and that improves it further too! Looks really good.
  8. Another modder, we seem to be growing!! Car looks lovely, glad you’re enjoying it! There are a few of us with threads outlining some of the mods you are talking about, takes a surprisingly small amount to make a big difference! Look forward to seeing this progressing!
  9. Ah, I have seen them but wasn’t sure if they should have been fitted. Not a massive fan of them personally and have had bad experiences of metal due to galvanic corrosion.
  10. What?!?!? It should of had the metal caps? the plot thickens…..
  11. Isn’t this normal? I tried running with no thermostat in the old days and temp was related to speed! I would expect if the thermostat was stuck open the car would take ages to get to temp, if at all.
  12. A few friends of mine have bought from Cazoo and say the experience say good! when I was on the hunt for an RCF they were selling an orange carbon and it’s not there anymore so can assume someone got it!
  13. As an engineer I love the science and tend to understand it well, makes the car more relatable to me if I understand the ‘why and how’.
  14. Done 355 miles today down to Norfolk and have averaged 33.8mpg at 70mph on the A1, can’t complain at that! Car managed it admirably, though still think an LS would have made a better job of it!
  15. I drilled the hole in the compartment from the front when the dash was disassembled so it’s immediately above the existing USB connections. Managed to get a drill in no problem with the centre console removed. I’ll take a photo tomorrow, got a mammoth drive down to Norfolk with work in the morning and an evening to waste tomorrow as stuck in a hotel!!
  16. I almost wish I hadn’t asked, though the thread has been somewhat entertaining! With the car having been previously owned by Lexus I wasn’t sure as to the rationale they would have used when inflating with nitrogen or whether it was indeed them that did it! Thanks for the input from all involved, think I will just go with my gut as and when I change tyres, if the garage I use even does it! Marcus
  17. My car was owned by Lexus UK until I bought it so not sure if tires would have been done at a local main dealer rather than another company that may offer nitrogen as a service. At the cheap price it is I would possibly use it when considered against the cost of a tyre but certainly don’t notice any performance increase. Stability through the year will no doubt be better however.
  18. My car has had green dust covers fitted since I first got it in April and had a sneaking suspicion that it meant something. Having had a google it seems that the tyres could be nitrogen filled. Anyone every done this and actually noticed it making a difference? I've tried it before to no effect so don't anticipate I will be getting it re-done in the future but as the car was previously owned by Lexus UK and maintained within their network I though it interesting to see it used. Any ideas? Marcus
  19. I would agree with this one, though hard to diagnose from an armchair. My RCF does it during tight turning when slow and its the wheel scrubbing.
  20. With there being so few F-cars knocking about, imagine if a few of them did sell for this price. Would probably distort the entire market!
  21. Not a bad shout that, I tidied up the 10mm hole so you cant see it and it doesn't look bad but it certainly is a neater solution. I would however be left with a USB connected to a USB connected to a lightning cable so is just another failure point. I'll get one and see how much it stresses me out as time goes on - thanks!
  22. Apologies for the vague initial post, was done on phone rather than the PC which makes link hard work. The unit is sold from the UK as an ICEBOX product but does look like the rather generic ones as seen elsewhere. One thing I will say about this one in particular is that ICEBOX customer service is UK based and they will reply to emails/phone calls same day. I've personally found the aftersales really good, it was the difference between it being a risky purchase and a no-brainer for me. I emailed Icebox to discuss compatibility with the RCF and wanted to make sure of the below points Picture would fill the full screen and resolution would be good. Touchpad would work fine. I'd retain use of the OEM multimedia if I ever needed it. Can I use it with USB rather than wirelessly as described. Steering wheel controls etc. would be fine. After answering all of these questions satisfactorily they sent to a link to a unit that I need, please see below. (note it says NX rather than RC, think its because I have updated RCF multimedia) https://www.iceboxauto.com/lexus-rc-series-2015-19-wireless-apple-carplay-wired-android-auto-siri-rear-camera Initially the unit arrived without instructions though a quick email got this sorted. After having read this it all made sense. Stripdown of the dash is simple enough and there are plenty of other guides on how to do this so not going to cover it. I initially test ran everything with the dash in bits but once satisfied that the hardware was all ok, rebuilt and started configuring the unit to operate everything as required. Seems a lot of these boxes are rather generic and get a flash to become compatible with different cars. Once the machine is able to work on a car, final configuration is done in the menus once fitted. Please see a few points. I wouldn't bother with wireless, found it hard work and because I wanted to charge my phone from USB I think this was just confusing the unit. When you initially connect the iPhone you will be asked if you want to use the unit in USB or wireless mode. Select USB and reliable quality/connections will be easy. Select steering wheel controls to 'Invalid'. Initially my track up button on the wheel would change source. Ensure that on the iPhone the option to allow 3rd party USB connections to access details whilst screen in locked in enabled. This setting is configured in the phone on a device by device basis so won't create any security issues. Run the MMI USB socket inside the transmission tunnel and drill a 10mm hole in the arm rest cubby hole to run a quality lightning cable. Cable tie the plug/socket together under the trim so you don't have issues with them coming separated throughout normal use. I'm more than willing to answer any further questions on it, please let me know if you want a run through or more details. Marcus
  23. Another update on this thread, got CarPlay/Android auto for the car. Was very much after a system that integrates with the existing multimedia without any extra buttons etc and looked as close to OEM as possible. Eventually ended up with a unit form ICEBOX Auto in Liverpool. Turned up well package and in quick time, approximately 2 weeks. installation was initially hard work due to a lack of instructions but once I got these from Icebox the rest of it was fine. Overall the unit is really good, ties in seamlessly with the car and feels OEM. Any questions just ask Marcus
  24. Do GSFs hold a premium relative to similar RCFs? Seems a tad rich. Bought my 2018 RCF with 10k miles well spec’d from them for £2k less than that asking price. Not sure they will have much haggling in them either, was a real battle to get anything off mine and it had been with them a few months!
