  1. I agree, seems to be a good car and as we all know, the engine is a gem! I get it from a business perspective, can’t imagine it would sell well here. Does make me wonder what the plans are for the F brand. Lexus must have made a conscious decision not to turn this into an ISF and tone down the chassis a bit. I wonder if they don’t really have a power train ready for an F car as the next one is going to have to be turbo/hybrid. There’s a bit of me hopes it’s not a V8 just to selfishly help us current owners. Not aware of any F cars currently in development since they stopped the LCF….
  2. I run Swift springs with no appreciable reduction in the ride as a result. Would certainly recommend them….
  3. Always liked your RCF, the white does look good! Hope it’s everything you are after. Did look at them when getting my car but wanted the V8 and think I would miss it….
  4. Could possibly be as a result of the LSD at the rear? Didn’t the facelift cars get the LSD (possibly as an option)? If so, you may get this slow speed dragging. Could it have always been like that any you’re just noticing now?
  5. I wholeheartedly agree with this statement. You may find the best thing you have done for the paint is leave it alone! My car is ceramic coated and cleans up extremely well with a pressure wash with snow foam, in the summer I probably contact clean every 4th/5th time with a top up ceramic shampoo. In the winter I’m not sure I will clean with a sponge once, and the car thanks me for it every year!
  6. Reliability has always been a major part of my purchase decision so have been lucky so far. Both my Lexus cars have been faultless, most unreliable was an Alfa Brera but still has a soft spot in my heart! Wife drives an Evoque that’s 4yr old and has been fine too, though starting to do daft stuff like reversing camera playing up intermittently and brake wear indicators go off sometimes!
  7. With the focus being so good, what’s drawing you back to Lexus? Is it the engine?
  8. I would imagine that Lexus QC wouldn’t allow rubbish carbon fibre to get through. A good ceramic coat is worthwhile for damage but also UV protection. Can apply yourself nowadays too!
  9. Clearly a man of little taste!! Must say, does work a little better on the RCF but Solar flare looks much better in the flesh! Not sure it works on the GSF.
  10. I’m in my RCF now and it’s not got an off either! Never really thought about it before but if I don’t want my lights on at night, for example, I just switch to sidelights only…..I think!
  11. I’m going to want to get some track time alone too and possibly will push quite hard! I’ll perhaps try giving the car a couple of hard brakes from speed and see how they get on, probably only got a few mm left though anyway.
  12. Now you mention that, I am aware it’s actually a different pad. Interestingly ‘alternative’ suggests Lexus still use the original on new cars too?? Although I’ve not had the RCF on track, my 10yr old has been asking me to take her around Knockhill in it so over the next few years I may end up going on a track day…
  13. Still not settled yet but considering EBC Redstuff front and rear. Price seems good and hear good things. Particularly like the less dust they seem to generate and at £300 all round it’s hard to ignore. OEM is a safe bet but the car has had squealing brakes at slow speeds for the last 15,000 miles and in not a fan of it! Heard that the compound has changed since then but now sure I want to risk it…
  14. I’m starting to get a little squealing at slow speeds and pads look low so will probably change mine. Currently at around 25,000 miles….
  15. Very nice, would need a brighter colour though! Orange RC-F looks good too, carbon I guess?
  16. Not got a maxton eBay one but heard the quality is pretty good. For the price, may be worth a punt.
  17. Is that how much it costs for used manifolds?? That suddenly makes buying a set of aftermarket ones much more appealing!
  18. I’ve got an 18’ RC and although the dealer initially told me it was upgradable to CarPlay it seems it isn’t. Ended up spending £300 on the Icebox CarPlay and fitted it myself. Would never go back, use it for every journey and it’s been really good. Can fit it yourself too!
  19. I’m pretty sure you can set the ‘normal’ pressure in the tyres. I’m writing this wondering if I’m imagining that but sure you can, in the RCF at least! I’ve never driving an RC300h before but can imagine it suits the comfortable nature of the car, bit like the RCF but without the split personality and better fuel economy. I assume the suspension is a bit more forgiving too. Let’s be honest, no-one actually needs 450-500bhp!!
  20. I have long since given up suggesting to the other half that she drive either the Ranger Rover or my car! It tends to be met with a comment along the lines of "why would I want to do that, that's what you are here for". I guess its because it then gives her an opportunity to play on her phone whilst I'm driving before complaining that I'm going too fast because she's not watching the road! I do envy those who say marriage is easy!!
  21. I had personally noticed a drop in economy over Feburary/March/April using E10. I read that although advertised as E10 for sometime, this is actually the maximum allowed ethanol content, rather that actual. I have a sneaky feeling that some fuels have progressively moved closer to 10% over the last year or so, rather than from day 0. I have exclusively been using E5 fuel from either Tesco Momentum or Shell V-power for 3 or 4 months and have noticed a 10%+ increase in fuel economy as a result so will be sticking with it. Looking elsewhere online the Tesco Momentum gets really good write-ups as does Shell. Its worth noting that there aren't a million refineries knocking about so I can imagine that a lot of different suppliers get fuel from the same place (perhaps with slightly different additive blends). Fuel quality generally is pretty good nowadays and cars so well engineered that I cant imagine any of the fuels on sale in the UK would be "bad" for a car, otherwise OEMs would have issues with customers using it!
  22. There’s a few videos online and I don’t think there is much in it. Possibly the RCF is ever so slightly faster but having driving an LC500 it does feel quicker. Think it’s due to the gearbox and exhaust making it sound better through the gears. Once an aftermarket exhaust goes on the RCF then it becomes much the same.
  23. Slightly biased but brand name and vanity will 100% play a part. To the general public, Lexus doesn’t hold the same prestige as something like a Porsche or Aston and when you are going to spend £90k+ on a car that matters. A good chunk of people that drive a Porsche, Aston etc want to be seen and feel good about it. Id love to get one but they need to be in the £40-50k range for me and as an enthusiast that doesn’t need another car I can wait. Combined with the fact the RCF is already a capable car does make the proposition harder. I do think that as they get cheaper the pool of people that would be interested is going to increase but for us that want to buy on the second hand market, there needs to be car enthusiasts that are wealthy enough to be in the top 1% and not be driven to the obvious brands! To all of you that made that move, I salute you!!
  24. I don’t know these were available, the RCF ones must be similar?
  25. As mentioned, totally different cars! Suppose it depends what you are after… The track spec thing doesn’t appeal to me much anymore but I use my car as a daily driver! If it’s just a toy then suppose it makes sense. I’d be reluctant to get rid of the engine, would miss the V8 too much, think I’ll always have one now. I’m at the point when I’m considering getting a comfy daily and using the RCF as a second car and the only thing I’d contemplate swapping it for is an LC500 convertible and even then, not entirely sure yet….
