  1. Regarding the part number of the paint kit, I have: P2448-W3T51-09 New Sonic Red 3T5 Hope this helps.
  2. I was given the kit when I bought the car. I will look up the part number and let you know.
  3. Is there a standard location for charge connectors on EVs or is it like petrol vehicles where the fuel filler is on the left or right depending on the side of the road driven on in the country of origin of the vehicle. I am asking to inform myself as to the best location for an EV charger in my drive/garage.
  4. I have touched up my Sonic Red door edge which had a very small chip on. I used the two pot Lexus kit and followed the instructions but using a cocktail stick instead of a brush to apply the tiny bit of paint required. The base coat looks the incorrect colour until you put on the top coat. It then changes to the proper appearance. The area on my door edge is now undetectable after a mild polish.
  5. The slightly turned up front spoiler edge and reasonable ground clearance are a big pluses when going up slopes or driveways. I have never had any problems unlike in my previous Aston DB9 which was forever scraping the front undertray. This is surprising as both cars have long nose overhangs and are of similar size.
  6. This is normal on our NX and LC so I think it is probably fine. Why would you want it to be off?
  7. I also do not have the HUD and I think the big digital speed readout in the dash display is just fine. The one thing that Lexus should have fitted to this "halo" model is a front (or full surround) camera. The long nose is a pain to get lined up when parking. You know what is the most often asked question about the LC? "What is it?"
  8. You only have to listen to the BBC news interviewers. They all ask people "How do you feel..." rather than trying to elicit facts.
  9. I thought it was some sort of health food at first. 😄
  10. I have used the paddles. Be aware that they operate in different ways in different drive modes. In "Normal" mode they act as a highest gear lock (i.e. the car changes up through the gears in auto but will stop at the selected gear ratio. In the sport modes the paddles actually change gear to order except if this would put the engine outside programmed parameters. Now, in reality, I never use the paddles as the auto box is so very good at reacting to your right foot. I think the paddles are only likely to be of use on a track day. Is the LC500 a track car? I don't think so. Maybe I am getting old. 🙂
  11. For years we got told "stop. look and listen before you cross the street" and the Green Cross man told us to stop at the kerb. This has seemingly now been thrown out in this latest guidance.
  12. I'm actually more concerned that cyclists on separated cycle lanes which run across side roads will simply not stop and end up under other vehicles. At least they will have the satisfaction of knowing, while lying in their hospital bed, that "they were in the right". The only rule needed is "look after your own safety and that of other road users". This is, after all, pretty much what the HSE recommend for workplaces.
  13. You can still get a taste of "pops and bangs". Use Sport+ mode and you get a crackle on the overrun. 🙂
  14. Shaun, very nice. I also have Sonic Red. What colour is your interior? Where did you take the photo? Hythe Marina? Regarding the front skirt, you do need to be careful but it is much less vulnerable that the equally long nosed Aston DB9 which I used to have. Lexus really should have fitted the all round camera system on this "halo" model.
  15. The objections to cycling infrastructure stem principally from the provision of this from the existing road area rather than providing new (and separated) cycling paths. Motorists are naturally upset by this as it increases crowding and they see the cycling provision very little used while they sit in traffic.
  16. Regarding Dutchie01's video of Amsterdam, the most telling fact is that there are almost no Lycra clad "personal best time" chasers - just ordinarily dressed citizens using a bike as a means of transport. There would be much less antagonism towards cyclists if it were like this in the UK.
  17. Thanks @peniole. I see it is in the "Warnings" rather than in the operating instructions text.
  18. Our NX300h is a 2019 Takumi with all the bits including the highest spec. automatic cruise control. The other day we were going downhill on a long straight road with the ACC set to 60mph with no other cars in front. Instead of remaining at the set speed, the car crept up to 75 mph. Is this normal operation where the radar cannot detect any vehicles in front?
  19. Related to this subject, my moan is the sign on the pedestrian exit from Waitrose in Salisbury onto the path along the River Avon. There is a sign warning pedestrians to beware of cyclists but no corresponding sign for cyclists to take care of pedestrians who have to cross the cycle lane to get on the pedestrian side of the shared path. This contravenes the latest guidance in the highway Code as to order of precedence. There is also a report in the Sunday Times today that "A roads now have greater numbers of cyclists using them than cars". This, as we all know from our actual experience, is plain wrong (probably everywhere but in Central London where the reporter lives).
  20. I pretty much agree with Brian R in that you have to choose your parking space carefully. However, I find that the width of the LC and the very long doors mean that you have to park at the end of a row or similar to be able to get in and out anyway. It is very easy to touch the outside edge of the doors on walls etc unless you are very careful.
  21. There is more to enjoyment of driving than acceleration. The aural sensation is part of it and that is why I have a V8 LC. Fake noisemakers do not cut it!
  22. Yes, I have often thought that this system was designed by townies who don't go out on unlit roads. I wrote to Lexus about this years ago.
  23. Ha! My current bane is toilet blocks. We have those very smart looking but impractical "square" toilet pans from Vitra. The standard plastic clip on the block holder will not fit on the very wide lip on the pan and we have broke a few trying to stretch them over. We have resorted to in-cistern blocks which I don't like. You are right about the packaging which seems to be made from the same material as used for the heat shield on the space shuttle. 🙂 When you cut them open with scissors, they produce a very sharp edge so you have to be very careful.
  24. These cars need to be run in "ready" mode for about one hour per week to maintain the system battery which is charged via a DC/DC converter. This can be by driving the car or by leaving it in park in ready mode (for example on your drive). If this is impractical then a trickle charger is your best bet.
