Posting Queries on LOC v. Using Manuals
malcolmw replied to Rabbers's topic in Lexus General Discussions
Unfortunately, neither of these things work on the NX brochure. There is a button at the bottom of the left menu for "offline" but it appears to do nothing. The e-mail option just sends the link to the online page. Interestingly, the brochure for the ES is in a downloadable PDF format and works fine. -

As you can see from the screenshot, I am using Chrome on Win 10. There is no download icon or black menu bar. Puzzling. -

Thanks for the links. OK, so I have gone to the brochure link and selected the new NX brochure which opens up in my browser in HTML. How do I download a copy? -
LC500 V8s back to mid £40k by end of year?
malcolmw replied to Flytvr's topic in Lexus LC500 / LC500h Club
I think there is little chance of <£50K by end of this year. When I went to look at one of the convertible LC500s at Hedge End, they offered me £50K trade in for my Feb 2018 car (15,000mls). With their mark up this would be on sale for at least £55K. -

I logged in to MyLexus to download a manual for our newly ordered NX. I couldn't do it as I don't own the car yet. Any ideas. I couldn't even see how to download the brochure. (I would have looked up how to download these from the Lexus servers but ... -
Well, we have ordered a new NS350h Premium Plus Pack + Pano Roof (Sonic White with Dark Rose interior) from Hedge End. They are estimating July 2023 for delivery although this is not guaranteed. Fortunately, we are not too concerned about the delivery date. The deal is that the price is fixed as at date of ordering irrespective of when the car is delivered. They have also given a minimum guaranteed trade in value for our current NX300h Takumi. The deposit is fully refundable should we cancel. We don't honestly see what more they could do to give us a clear idea of the cost to change.

While there is little excuse for not keeping you informed, the dealers have been really blindsided by the factory delaying deliveries which is substantially out of their control. To give you some idea, we have had it indicated to us that if we order a new NX350h now, the delivery will be July 2023. This is from Hedge End and we have had very good service from them purchasing 6 Lexus cars over the years. Service support has also been excellent.

NX300h to NX350h Queries
malcolmw replied to malcolmw's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Because of the rake on the screen, I think the mirror is slightly closer to your eyes but you are correct in that I am just on the limit of my short distance focus when looking at the centre NAV screen. I don't have any problem with the HUD. The main difference is that it is pretty essential to look in the mirror very frequently and clearly note what you see but not so much for viewing the other displays. -
NX300h to NX350h Queries
malcolmw replied to malcolmw's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Just as an odd point from our test drive of a Takumi spec. model, does anyone have the digital rear view mirror? I found this useless for a reason which will affect many "senior" Lexus owners. Like a lot of older people, I am long sighted and thus I drive without any spectacles. This means that my close vision is not as sharp as it might be. A normal mirror has the same eye focus distance as looking out of the windscreen and is thus fine. The video screen mirror requires you to refocus on a display just a few centimetres from your face and is, for me, out of sharp focus. As usual, this has been designed by 25 year olds. 🙂 -
We are considering ordering a NX350h to replace our NX300h. We have had a test drive and were pretty impressed with the general upgrade in the new model. We would probably go for the Premium Plus pack rather than the Takumi as we don't want self parking, the ML audio or the (useless) camera mirror. The very long delivery lead time does not bother us but we do have a few queries which someone might be able to help with. - Does the new version make a silly noise when running at slow speeds on battery only? - Can the old NX wheels be fitted to the new model? We have a set of winter wheels for our current car and it would be handy to use these. We note that the "standard" tyre size is 235/60 R18 on the new one vs. 225/60 R18 on the old one. However, while the rims are both 7.5J, PCD 114.3 and offset ET35, the wheel stud size seems to be M14 rather than M12. Any other input would be welcome.

NX300h Squeaking Tailgate???
malcolmw replied to Steve Oliver's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
The proverbial GummiPflege is what you need. This is a treatment for rubber seals. Our NX tailgate occasionally squeaks when opening and closing but a bit of WD40 on the hinges fixes this. -
@bluemarlin You are being a bit disingenuous with your comparison. It is, indeed, likely that a larger number of motorists exceed the speed limit every day than cyclists ignoring red lights. However, your comparison should be the proportion of each class of road users failing to obey rules. There are far fewer cyclists doing far fewer road miles than drivers but we all seem to see examples of red light running. The salutary effect of the likelihood of punishment discourages drivers from erring while cyclists cannot be identified.

Failed wireless charging
malcolmw replied to Pinkrupee's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
On the NX300h, we align our iPhones (in thick protective cases) dead centre on the charge pad and back as far as you can reasonably place them. There is a slight delay until the green light goes to amber and charging commences. The grippy cases stop the phones from moving around while driving. -

We have just got new iPhone SE3s and have been able to use the wireless charging pad for the first time on our 2019 NX300h. It seems to work OK but we have had one occasion when the LED on the pad flashed amber. After switching on and off all was well. What are you seeing from the LED on the charge pad? Does it come on green and then go amber (solid) when you put the phone on it? -
I assume that you have checked the tyre tread area for stones. Which wheels do you have? BTW. you are lucky to get your fuel flap to open at all! 🙂

I have e-mailed my dealer reporting the incident and asked for an acknowledgement.

Lexuscare Extended Warranty. It covers "electrics" and cost me £2395 for 2 years cover in February 2021.

I was driving along the A36 southwest of Bath yesterday when I noticed the border of the map screen had turned red. The map seemed to still be working so I did a restart using the 5 second hold feature of the radio on button. The system restarted but came on with the radio selection screen showing (in the usual black) and without the map display. I also noticed that my iPhone was showing disconnected on the top of the screen (line through symbol). I tried to select the map using the button on the touchpad but this had no effect. I then pushed the menu button and there were absolutely no SatNav or map functions showing on the menu options. It was just like the car didn't have navigation. I did the reset again with the same result except that now my phone seemed to have reconnected and was showing on the top of the screen. Just as a bit of extra information, my phone was in my jacket in the car boot and not inside with me. On getting home, I parked in my drive and left the car for about an hour. I then switched on the ignition and the system restarted seemingly normally with the map on show. I will check it out further today but has anyone seen anything like this? As I have the paid-for extended warranty which I believe covers the infotainment system, I am considering reporting this to Lexus in case of future issues.

I would echo what AJ500 says above. Regarding parking, the big problem is getting a space where some unthinking person can't park close to the driver's door and stop you getting in! Mine (also Sonic Red/Black) is 4 years old and used for a variety of trips. I haven't done a huge mileage but try to get out in it at least every week. In between it sits in the garage on a trickle charger.

Who's got or ordered a Convertible
malcolmw replied to Kevin Williams's topic in Lexus LC500 / LC500h Club
As it happens, Lexus Hedge End called me about this car and I have been to have a look. Reg. No is T 11 BOR which does not suggest a Lexus HQ car. It is, as expected, very beautiful and the roof slips up and down easily. F-Sport White with Flare Red leather. It has the "bling" 21inch wheels which I am not keen on and the bright red seats are not to my liking. However, the main issue is really value. It would cost me about £50K to swap my LC500 for the convertible as the garage want just under £100K for the car. It's just not worth it for me. When I had a Mercedes SL500 I didn't really drive roof down that much so I am keeping my current car. Has anyone else expressed an interest? -
You are almost certainly correct that it is the weight distribution on the seat base. The seats have pressure sensors so that they can detect the presence of the driver/passenger and act accordingly.

We have noticed little difference on our NX. However, E10 was introduced just as the temperature was dropping in the autumn/winter season. It may be that this meteorological issue is what is causing the drop in mpg. You may recover range in the summer.
