Reference the seat bolster and wheel corrosion issues, I have the diamond cut 20 inch wheels on my LC500 and have none of the corrosion mentioned above. I also have leather (as opposed to Alcantara) seats which are different in design and do not show the bolster sagging.

How does the writer answer the point that "everyone's got a Porsche"? If you walk past and go to the Porsche dealer they will ask if you are already an owner as they couldn't sell a new model to just anyone. Then there is the problem of the profusion of models. Does anyone know a GT2 from a GT3? 🙂

Robby666 What specification have you ordered? Our NX350h Premium Plus with Pano Roof ordered May 2022 is still showing "order placed" only.

The LC gearbox changes extremely quickly in auto mode and responds to the paddles faster than I could shift manually. These comments are tosh!

My LC500 is hugely cheaper to service than my previous Aston DB9. I had that car for 13 years from 2005 and for the first 10 years I used the main dealer with annual bills at about £1,000 to £1200. I eventually used an independent specialist at about £650 per year. So I shouldn't complain too much about Lexus prices. 😉

Overall, we have got about 36 to 37 mpg (real, not from the OBC) from our 2019 NX over 27K miles of mixed driving. I think this is pretty typical but I expect our new NX350h (whenever it arrives) will do about 45 mpg based on our test drive consumption.

Is "pole to pole" a battery joke?

For casual use, you might like to try Carista first. It can do a lot of changes to the car (including TPMS) for not a lot of cash.

I just got my LC back from its 5 year service but have only done 17K miles from new. I have the 20 inch wheels and the Turanza tyres are worn to an overall average of about 5mm tread depth left. Interestingly, the fronts are pretty evenly worn across the width of the tread but the rears are worn about one mm more in the centre than the edges of the tread. This usually indicates over inflation but I have always set my pressures with a Snap-On gauge to the recommended 2.3 bar and this is confirmed by the on-board system. On the way back from Hedge End, I noticed that the car felt "floaty" so I checked the pressures the next morning and found that they were about 2.5 bar all round. I reset these to 2.3 bar and the car feels OK again. Regarding replacement tyres, I wouldn't be too concerned about getting run-flat ones. I had an Aston DB9 which was fitted with Bridgestone Run Flats as standard. I changed these for Michelin PSS and the ride improvement was huge. Has anyone who has put new tyres on their LC got any comments?

I took my LC500 in for its service yesterday (I can't believe I have had it for 5 years). All was well but I noticed that the wording on the service invoice regarding the rolling warranty had changed from a year ago. In January 2022, the invoice referred to a "Lexus Relax Warranty". Yesterday's invoice says "Lexus Service Activated Warranty". Is this just a rebranding or is there some difference?

The same applies to the NX300h. I had a Range Rover which had dual door seals to fix this issue. Is it really a big deal? It takes me a few seconds to put a wet brush across the inside of the door bottoms when washing. I don't think it is really "cleaning the inside" as stated.

Although not really "on topic", Car magazine this month has run an extensive test on EVs to see how much the claimed range is degraded in the winter on practical roads with heater/wipers in use. In summary, almost all (Porsche to Kia) show a 30 to 35% drop from the claimed mileage. Combine this with the type of ageing mentioned above for the batteries on a car a few years old and it doesn't look to enticing to a used car buyer.

Mercedes dealership experience huh? A while back I went to the Merc dealership in Salisbury (in my Aston DB9 to make them take me seriously as a potential customer!) and test drove an AMG GT Coupe. It was fast and a bit cramped for me but they let me take it out for an unaccompanied drive for an hour or so. I took it back and expressed general interest and said I would think about if I wanted to spend £100K plus. I never heard from them again. Astounding arrogance.

With the advent of things like smartphones with intuitive interfaces, reading the manual for many has become an unnecessary waste of time. Until something unexpected happens. I look at it as the end user version of manufacturers selling products with software only partially tested and relying on users to find the faults.

I imagine that you know the saga of LC500 fuel flaps. I have had all the modifications offered by Lexus and have resorted to a foam pad to pop open the flap as required. This works as did the much more simple mechanism on the first generation NX. Why over-engineer things? Do we really need a remote release?

Yes. This has been raised several times before with Lexus as this makes AHBC useless for rural drivers. The system was clearly designed by "city boys".

Could this be due to a hangover from the 3 month warranty/services extension which was given back in the COVID lockdowns?

We ordered a NX350h in May with a suggested delivery date of July 2023. They gave us a minimum trade in value for the delivery date and said this would be adjusted upwards should the new car arrive earlier or the market be stronger next year. Basically we have a cost to change deal with a firm price.

It's one of the great mysteries of car dealers. No matter how big their site is and how many off-site paddocks they have, there will always be no space in the car park.

+1 on the Vaseline. It worked on our NX and has been fine for the best part of 3 years so far.

Yes, same here. Hedge End are both Toyota and Lexus on the same (huge) site.

The model NX350h we have ordered has the 20 inch RFTs as standard. However, as we have an extra set of 18 inch wheels and winter tyres for our old NX300h I checked to see if they could be fitted. It turns out that they can't as they now use a bigger wheel stud size (M12) on the new model even though PCD and offsets are the same.
