  1. Very interesting. When I test drive high performance cars, I generally consider how easy they are to drive more slowly and in traffic as this is the typical situation everyday. The LC500 is very good in this respect having a real automatic box and not a manual box with an electronically operated clutch. An Aston V12V which I tried had this latter type and it was useless in traffic. Having tested the LC500h I can say that, although it is very clever, the V8 is light years better. I think the hybrid would only make sense if you live in a big town. As I live in a rural area then the V8 wins for me. From the pics, it looks like you went along the shore at Lee-on-the Solent on a rainy/windy day! YUK. I will post more detailed views on my LC500 when I have run it in as I have only done 250 miles thus far.
  2. With the Lexus Cover, you can add an additional person living at the same address onto the cover. There is a form for this in the booklet you get from Lexus.
  3. The "standard" wheels actually look better in the metal than they do in pictures. The sculptured effect plus the graphite paint looks good with the red bodywork. I have not done enough driving yet but, once I have formed a detailed opinion, I will post something on here.
  4. Thanks guys. I'm going to get it set up and then go out for a drive today as it's dry and sunny where I am. I will post some comments in due course.
  5. As per the title, I got my LC500 today. Here's a quick picture. All seems good so far. I need to set up all the gadgets next.
  6. Yes, I had mine done when the car was serviced. No issues to report after the upgrade - everything works as expected.
  7. My manual has the following on Page 545: On Page 552 is this: I agree with you that this is pretty vague.
  8. The OP was referring to the 4RX model. What happens on previous models is unknown to me.
  9. Yes, I agree that the S-Flow only seems to affect the rear airflow. I have noticed the passenger side temperature display go off sometimes but mostly it stays on. I don't think this is much to worry about.
  10. Just go onto Confused.com and put your details in to get a lot of quotes. This will give you some idea.
  11. Do you have the sports Alcantara trimmed seats or the full leather type?
  12. Can I suggest to the Moderators that this thread is moved to the LC500 Forum as it seems more relevant there.
  13. Just to update this thread with reports from another thread on this site. Lexus Hedge End are said to have looked at 3 LCs with the retractable door handles stuck in the out position. I will ask them about this when I pick my car up. Anyone else seen this?
  14. However do you find out what are "common faults" on a car that only has 200 or so examples in the UK and almost nobody who owns one posting faults on here?
  15. Regarding the comments above about being flashed as if you are on main beam, are you using the AHBC system? I have this switched off on mine as some aspects of how it works are poor on rural roads (stays on dip too long) and I never get flashed in my 4RX under manual control.
  16. Thanks Ben, very useful comments. on the LC500. I had a Merc. CL500 also but I had the twin turbo engine. Does yours have the normally aspirated engine being a 2011 model? I thought it was a very good car for cruising up the motorway (and very fast accelerating) but BIG to park in normal spaces. Regarding the cruise control, if the distance settings are the same as on the 4RX then I would agree that the middle setting (2 bars on the display) is more intuitively in tune with my driving style than the default and longer distance 3 bars. However, I don't like the lane departure warning and have it switched off all the time. Please give us some more feedback as you settle in with the LC.
  17. Extraordinary! You have managed to spot two examples of a car on the road of which there are only about 200 in the UK. I was expecting to get mine and then never see another (except in dealers). I see another Aston every couple of weeks or so but they sell 2000 p.a. and have done for at least 10 years. I must get our more. BTW, I see the car park shown has the very wide spaces that I also never seem to see...
  18. Dear Ben, How are you getting on? Your comments would be very interesting.
  19. It amazes me just how prevalent this activity seems to be (based on the large number of responses to this thread and the tiny sample of Lexus owners on here). I just don't understand the mentality of people who steal items worth pennies. It's very annoying for a trivial item. Still, today the Met Police announced that they wold not pursue thefts for less than £50 value...
  20. Well, I haven't got my LC500 yet but I have been driving a 4RX for some time which, I assume, has similar functionality of "gadgets". All just my opinion, of course... - ACC - works pretty well but still not yet in sync with my own foot on the pedals. You need to set the distance from the car in front to suit your driving style. - There is no "autopilot" (whatever that is). - Lane assist - I never use it as it is so annoying. - RTCA - works OK and is unobtrusive. - AHBC - pretty useless in rural areas. I leave it switched off.
  21. Yes, this is a very interesting review which sheds a lot of light on the design and performance. I have also had extended test drives of both the V8 and Hybrid and I would pretty much go along with the comments about how the 5 litre engine delivers its power in a " smooth and gentle" way until you really get the revs up thus making it easy to drive in the real world of UK roads. Also interesting was the comments about the 21 inch wheels. I am getting the 20 inch on mine so we will see if the ride is further improved. Not long now...
  22. I sincerely hope that doesn't happen!
  23. My iPhone SE running IOS11.1.2 seems to work OK. However, I have not updated to IOS11.2.1 yet.
  24. I also had two of my valve caps stolen on my 4RX. I replaced all of them with very cheap black plastic caps. The scrotes don't want these.
  25. Yes, it looks fabulous. Let us know how you get on and if you have any issues. As for dirt, where I live, in the country, just driving round the corner means you get filth (polite term) from the farm tractors all over your pride and joy. I have got a lot less sensitive about keeping the car immaculate these days. My LC is looking like late January delivery at present. All the best and Merry Christmas
