  1. Ref. the Autocar preview, a few comments. - Wheels - good, another option which look better. - Brakes - Rubbish. The brakes on my LC are just huge and fill up the wheels! - Exhaust - If you took off the lower rear trim panel of the LC500 you would see 4 exhaust pipes arranged just as in the photos... - Air Intakes - Half finished but you can see the intercooler radiators for the turbos. - Flared Arches - I just can't tell from the pictures. @Big Rat The pictured car might be 18 months old so the pricing is not out of line with expectations. I am not sure how the Hybrid will fare against the V8 as this is a specialist and enthusiasts car.
  2. I am not unrealistic. I would expect the LC to depreciate much the same a similar coupes down to about 50% of the new price after 3 years. You get nothing for the optional HUD and ML system. The fastest fall is in the first year so the £20K fall reported in the original post is not out of the way. The mileage of the car is reported but not its date of registration or its history of ownership. Without this detail I find it hard to comment. The LC is not comparable to the GS-F or RC-F and the nearest car I have driven to the LC is the AMG GT in terms of feel although the power delivery is somewhat different.
  3. You might like to read this: So, I don't use AHB either.
  4. I have looked at the Navigation Manual for the LC and it seems that you can upload memories saved to a USB stick to the car. This is on Page 222. You can download the manual from the Lexus portal. It seems that you create the destinations on the MyLexus site then download them to a USB stick. You can, of course connect to the car directly but this is such a faff around I can't be bothered to do it. I am not sure if you can download the car memories to the USB stick for backup.
  5. Thanks for the warning about software updates. I was going to ask them to update the Nav system at some point as I still have to reset mine from time to time when its brain goes awry. Apart from that (and the touchpad!), I agree with you about the LC being excellent. You are the first person to report the actual fuel consumption you can get from the hybrid on a long run. I can get 26 mpg out of the V8 so these cars are very good for economy considering the performance.
  6. I have posted a similar question in another thread but... Does this calibration error on the speedo affect the computed mpg as it seems that most on-board readouts are also 5 to 10% optimistic on fuel consumption?
  7. Now, if the speedo reading is taken from the wheel rotation sensors, what about the odometer output? As per my original post above, my speedo is about 5% fast. Coincidentally, my fuel consumption readings are also about 5% too good when measured on the car computer compared to reality. Is this connected?
  8. I have checked my LC500 speedo accuracy against my phone with a GPS speed app. I am seeing 5% fast (i.e. at an indicated 80 I am actually doing 76mph). Hope this is of interest. Can anyone else confirm this?
  9. I have been idly playing with my mobile phone and a GPS speed app. I have found that the speedo on my other half's IS300h reads about 7% fast (i.e. at an indicated 70 you are actually doing 65mph). Has anyone else checked this out? I think it is pretty typical.
  10. Although not on subject for this thread, I agree that, in many cases, limits are set incorrectly and this is certainly a cause of "speeding" offences. The worst offenders, IMO, are people who campaign for limit reductions when what they are actually annoyed about is the VOLUME of traffic on a road and speed acts as an easily quoted proxy instead. In my village we have Community Speedwatch which is a scheme invented by the police to pacify "concerned residents". They found that there is practically no speeding due to the hazard density in the village causing almost all drivers to go slowly.
  11. Roadcraft is based on the principles of COAST. C = Concentration O = Observation A = Anticipation S = Space T = Time It is these principles which have been lost by today's drivers.
  12. I was aware of the potential problems with paint on Sonic Red (and even with Sonic Titanium on my previous car) but, at least, these can be fixed with a panel respray by a top notch body shop. I have the Glasscoat (FWIW). When the Structural Blue was announced with the description of the complex multi-layer process I did think it would be impossible to repair. It looks good though! Would protection film be a way forward? I was told in Feb 2018 that the wheel and tyre insurance would not cover the 21 inch wheels but I was not concerned personally as I have the 20 inch diamond cut ones which can be covered OK.
  13. Many years ago I was in Yorkshire on business. I had my raincoat on and was hot so I went out to my car (Mercedes SL500 at the time) opened the boot, threw the coat in and slammed it shut. My key was in my raincoat pocket! Lots of calls to the local Mercedes dealer and their Assist service revealed that there was no way to either open the boot remotely or to get a spare key so they loaned me a car to drive home to the south coast to get the spare key. A lot of driving but I never did anything like that again.
  14. In case you have not seen the review, the cars compared to the RC300h are: Kia Stinger 2.0t Audi A5 TFSI Ford Mustang 2.3 ECOboost.
  15. The September edition of Car has a comparison test which includes the RC300h. Unfortunately, they have fallen into the trap of thinking this is a performance car instead of a smart looking comfortable coupe. They do mention that you might want to get a secondhand RC-F for just a little more cash. ☺️
  16. Er. I won't be doing this but this guy isn't going very fast. The rear wing doesn't extend. ☺️ It does make a great noise though...
  17. Yes, I had these on my 4RX Premier. A bit pointless really and just a fad..
  18. I can't really help with these as I stream audio over BT from my iPhone (which works well) and not the sources which you list. As you will know, Miracast doesn't work with iPhones so that's no good either. I don't wish to be rude but when I had just taken delivery of my LC500 I was more interested in driving than listening or playing with the electronic bits. ☺️
  19. If it's the same as the IS300h, then you put on the winter tyres and register the sensors with Techstream. Do a reset (button under the dash) and the car will detect the winter tyre sensors after a few miles. You have to reverse the process when reverting to the summer tyres as, stupidly, you can't just switch over - I think.
  20. Naples was indeed the colour available for factory orders last October and I have the same brochure as you. Flare must be a new introduction. I have the glass roof and it does give a little more light into the car but I have it with the blind across at the moment to reduce the summer solar gain. I have heard that the CF roof cannot be left in full sun for extended periods as it degrades but I am not sure if this is "fake news". The guys on here with the RC-F carbon editions might be able to advise. I have the standard 20 inch wheels with Bridgestone Turanza runflats. As for winter tyres... do you really think I am going out in the snow in a 475bhp rear wheel drive car? ☺️ However, I have a set of winters for my other half's IS300h. These are Conti Winter Contact.
  21. +1 on the white/rose interior. That would have been my second choice after the red. I still think that they should have done light grey or cream leather inside the Structural Blue car instead of orange and white..
  22. Also discussed in this thread:
  23. Hmmm... The Japanese seem to have taste quite at odds to mine. Why the garish door inserts on both special edition models? Why white seats on a yellow car? In fact, the biggest question is why they don't let customers choose the exterior/interior they want on factory orders? I would have had vanilla leather with my red exterior.
  24. I used to have a CL500 with the 5 litre turbocharged engine, an Aston DB9 with the N/A V12 and now have the LC500 so I have a bit of experience with the differing performance and feel of these cars. The power delivery is different in the N/A cars compared to the turbos. In the LC you can creep about in traffic but get the revs up on the open road and it is fast enough for me. You also get the increasing power "sports car" feeling as the revs rise which you don't get in the turbos which just give a pretty linear push in the back. however, as has been said, the LC is a GT and not a street racer. The LC achieves acceleration in a different way to the turbo cars. They use the superior torque while the LC just changes down some of its 10 gears, gets the revs up and powers away. It sounds better too! I might be proved wrong but I think the proposed LC-F with turbo engine might spoil the overall feel of the car like comparing a 911 turbo to a GT3. In the real world I am getting 25mpg from the LC which I think is pretty good.
  25. Just to confirm this type of figure, we are just back from a 400 mile round trip to the Peak District on mixed motorway, A roads and lanes. The car meter shows 53.7 mpg (and I wasn't going particularly slowly). ☺️
