  1. Ah well, 7am. It's all the panic buying shoppers rushing to supermarkets. 😄
  2. Colin, do you use a battery conditioner to keep the car battery charged during your absences? BTW, Sonic White with Dark Rose inside is a nice combination. We have this on our NX.
  3. My experience has been the exact opposite of yours. I went along in my Aston DB9 to test drive an AMG GT at the local Mercedes dealer. You would have thought I was a target customer but, after the test drive, I had no contact from them at all. We now laugh at their arrogance at losing a £100K sale. My Lexus dealer at Hedge End is very good at customer support (both sales and service) and, thus I have purchased several cars from them. The fuel filler flap issue is just an inconvenience but can be fixed.
  4. These are very different cars so take care in your choice. The C63 unfortunately looks like all other C-Class cars so you lose a bit of cachet but it is very fast and has huge torque. The LC is very "styled" and is much rarer on the road. The power delivery is totally different with the punch coming in over 4000 rpm. I have driven both the standard and the 4WS Sport + and I couldn't tell the difference on the road. The smaller wheels are fine on the "standard model" and a bit less bling. There is a recent thread on here about getting the exhaust flaps to stay open all the time to encourage the nice V8 noise.
  5. I have experienced this "skipping" on some of my cars with very wide low profile tyres and, in the past, on our IS as per the thread quoted above. My LC has the 20 inch wheels with Turanza tyres which are more compliant than the 21 inch options especially in colder weather. I have had no issues with this on the LC and the slight squeak I had from the front offside suspension on right lock combined with suspension deflection seems to have disappeared.
  6. When we got an NX in white with the black glass roof, I was astonished at the temperature difference between the white and black parts after a spell in the sun. The black becomes untouchably hot while the white is pleasantly warm.
  7. I did say in my original post "My overall view is that the UX succeeds in living up to its name as an Urban Crossover. It is good for local journeys. It is easy to park in town... " 🙂
  8. 😄 😄
  9. +1 on that.
  10. I can confirm that it is Poundland. Please see the photo below. I have splashed out a whole pound and purchased another one to use as a polisher after application of the windscreen cleaner using the original item.
  11. Go to Poundland and look in the car bits section. They have an 18 inch long rod with a hinged microfibre pad on the end. Just spray the pad with windscreen cleaner and off you go. I got one to clean both the front and back screens on my LC as these are pretty impossible to get at. PS. I'm a fusspot too (about car cleaning). PPS. My other half has just said it might have been Aldi.
  12. I have had a UX on loan to me while the fuel filler flap on my LC was replaced. My partner has an NX for her daily driver and so I was able to compare the two. The UX was a 2WD with the "fake" leather seats. These are comfortable and I could get a good driving position easily but I would have liked lumbar support adjustment. The automatic seat heaters and auto steering wheel heating was a good feature in this colder weather. Over the 3 weeks I had the UX I averaged an indicated 46mpg. This compares to about 38mpg for the NX on the same usage. My overall view is that the UX succeeds in living up to its name as an Urban Crossover. It is good for local journeys. It is easy to park in town. However it is not as quiet and smooth as the NX on longer motorway journeys. My main criticism is the lack of boot space and the restricted legroom in the back seats. I am not that tall but the rear room behind me was quite limited. There is no way that the UX could accommodate 4 occupants and their luggage for a weekend away and I am pleased that we went for the NX.
  13. We went for a 100 mile run out today and I can confirm all is well with no rattles. I put a tiny bit of dry film lubricant on the parts of the flap which engage to align the flap in the body when you close it. Voila, it now springs open fine. I hope it stays like this. Regarding the loan car, it was a UX. My partner has a NX so the comparison was interesting. I will write a thread in the UX section of the forum on my opinions. @Pritchard I have Bridgestone Turanza Runflats on my LC and these seem reasonably OK in most conditions (you have to be careful with 476bhp!). I was always very happy with Pilot SuperSports on my Aston and I found these were much better than the Bridgestone Potenzas
  14. My jack is identical to the picture in Wendle's post a bit earlier in this thread.
  15. Well, the rain has just let up so I went out to have a careful look at the car. The mechanism has definitely been replaced as the new one looks different to the old version. On pressing the release button, the flap does open but only slightly. You have to pull it open with your finger but it does seem to work like this every time. The new design still relies on the flap moulding sliding into the car housing to align the flap and this is still a little tight although a lot better than before. I think a little bit of Vaseline will help when everything dries off. The spring force opening the flap seems a lot more than previously. Regarding the trim removal, they clearly did something in the boot as my tray (non Lexus item) was moved. They told me that the rear seat area had been removed but this looks fine and there are no rattles so far. They didn't vacuum the rear footwells after they had been in the car but this is not a big deal. So, OK thus far. BTW AJ, have you seen this previous thread:
  16. Can the exhaust valves be set to "open" via Techstream? BTW, did you try searching for "exhaust flaps"?
  17. I got the car back this evening but it is raining and I haven't had a chance to check out the flap. I did try it at the dealers and, although it opened it didn't exactly spring out. I will report back tomorrow - if the rain stops.
  18. As mentioned above, I think this must actually be a fault which you should get fixed under warranty by Lexus. Two to three months battery life is much too short.
  19. I was told today that the car will be ready on Friday afternoon. We will see.
  20. I don't think that mileage is the limiting factor. The power taken by the TPMS sensors in the tyre valves is very small, approximating to the self-dischage rate of the cells. They typically last about 10 years at normal temperatures.
  21. I think you definitely have a problem. All my Lexus cars have had key batteries which last typically 2 years. However, of recent times I have had them changed at each annual service to avoid any issues. The cost is trivial.
  22. Money, yes. In the case of the Cullinan though, no taste. 😄
  23. I would pretty much agree with Wendle. I purchased my car to enjoy the exclusivity, V8 power and the quiet luxury in traffic. I only consider the infotainment system as a secondary and not very inconvenient issue. Having said that, I think that Lexus should offer the CarPlay upgrade at no cost to LC owners. This car is expensive and the flagship coupe should have this feature for those who want it.
  24. I agree the standard Yokohamas are more noisy than our winter tyres (Michelin Alpins). When we got our NX, we test drove both the Takumi and the F-Sport variants and we felt the F-Sport suspension setup was not as comfortable. It seemed to "patter" on some road surfaces and was generally firmer.
  25. Yes, 3rd March but they hope it will come forward. Not too good but there is nothing that can be done in view of the demand for fuel flap parts.
