  1. Kevin, Thanks for this. AFAIK the Navigation updates are free for 3 years so you can probably still get them to put yours into the same state as mine (which is confirmed as the "latest"). We are not going to get the CarPlay update though as ours are both the MM17 and not the MM19 system. I can't understand why Snows didn't do this for you when they found that they couldn't do the CarPlay update.
  2. I had a 4th Gen RX with adaptive suspension which is achieved with electronically controlled dampers. It had a very comfortable ride and was quite soft in normal driving. It instantly firms up when you want to push on a bit. I had the Premier model and F-Sports tend to have a firmer setup but this is not an issue with the AVS.
  3. When I got my LC three years ago, I also considered the AMG GT and had a test drive. I used to have an Aston DB9 and before that a Merc SL500. The AMG drove very nicely but I just couldn't live with the loooong bonnet styling. The LC is in another league over the Aston when it comes to build quality (my DB9 rattled and felt "fragile"). Yes, the LC isn't perfect but it is really pretty good and exclusive. It is in a shrinking sector as a normally aspirated V8 and I intend to keep mine for a few years yet. You won't be disappointed!
  4. I was down in Lymington today (in our NX) when along came a Sonic Red LC500. I noted it had 600 on the numberplate but I didn't get the rest. Is it anyone on here?
  5. @pobrownWith your expertise on these matters I wonder if you could help me. My LC has had its service and navigation updates. I have added below some photos of the software update screens. Do you know if these are indeed the latest updates? I note than my system seems to be CY17 not CY19 and the Carplay update is not possible.

  7. Even if it did work a little, it wouldn't solve the problem of multistorey car parks at airports or of garage parking. If I am leaving my LC for more than a week, I put it on a mains trickle charger. I did the same with my Aston DB9 which I had for 13 years and was still on the original battery.
  8. Pleased to hear this but a word of caution. WD40 eventually turns into a thick sticky greasy goo. I have used dry film lubricant which doesn't do this and also doesn't attract the dirt.
  9. @wendleWhen you say "searching mode" what do you see on the display? Is it that the system cannot see the satellites (ref. my post above on incorrect location)? Another issue I have both on the LC and our NX is that the scaling which you have set on the map randomly and mysteriously gets reset to some default level. Not a big deal but annoying.
  10. The CTEK chargers are very good. However, do not use the "rejuvenating mode" with the battery connected to the car in case of overvoltage. The CTEK units typically charge at constant current (whatever the model used can generate) until the battery reaches typically 14.7V. This is the bulk charge phase. They then hold this voltage on the battery until the charge current drops to about 10% of the charger rating. This is the balancing phase. They then switch to typically 13.8V to maintain the battery fully charged for extended periods without gassing it. This works for both wet and AGM batteries and will be fine. The dedicated AGM mode typically uses a slightly lower maintenance voltage but has marginal effect on battery life.
  11. I have both the updated flap and a "little packing" of my own and I still occasionally get sticking. Yes, it is silly for such a simple thing to be so much trouble. A mechanism like the NX would have been just fine.
  12. Yes, I get the blue horizon on my SatNav screen in the "3d" mode. My car is going in for its 3 year service later this month and I have reported the SatNav losing track of where the car is located. For example, it shows me in the middle of the New Forest when I am at home in Wiltshire. I have seen this intermittently before and the system seems to correct itself after a few days. I thought it was best to get this flagged up in case the GPS sensor is faulty. Hedge End have indicated a "software update" is required. We will see.
  13. I assume the Hyundai button just enables the DC/DC converter to supply the 12V system and charge the battery a bit. Apparently all-electric cars like the Taycan and the i-Pace are prone to 12V battery flattening (i.e. a breakdown) as they also use DC/DC converters to charge the vehicle system batteries.
  14. I have also raised this with Hedge End and I await their reply.
  15. Even so, would this not make the "add on" full extended warranty cheaper?
  16. My LC would comply with the eligibility criterea and is in for it's 3 year service at the end of January. If this applies to UK sales then it will save me the high cost extended warranty. VERY INTERESTING.
  17. This may be due to the level of charge in the 12V system battery. The car blocks some non-essential current using features until the battery is a bit higher in voltage. I note the age of your NX and the colder weather. It is possible a replacement 12V battery may be needed. Do you use the car much? Our 2019 NX will allow all functions to be switched on almost immediately upon the "ready" signal.
  18. @AJ500 Yes, I'm also a bit peeved that that the LC extended warranty is about £2.4K for 2 years. I am trying to decide if it is worth getting as I will have had mine for three years at the end of this month. I agree that there are very few issues with the LC so I don't really understand the high cost. However, in 2008, I paid £2995 for a further 2 years on my DB9...
  19. This is years away yet. I shouldn't let it put you off too much as the Government usually exempts "older" cars as they are generally run by people who are less well off.
  20. Your battery has very low capacity. Instead of, typically, 70Ah it may be down to, say, 5Ah. Thus, it will appear to recharge very rapidly but still only have a small capacity available. You need a new one!
  21. Clarkson "reviews" the LC500 Convertible in the Sunday Times today. I don't read his reviews these days as they are not really about cars (just like the Grand Tour isn't a motoring program). He features the usual criticism of the infotainment system but does praise the build quality, handling and the engine. About par for the course then.
  22. We have the touch pad on both our cars and I would agree that it's not too bad to use. It's certainly not as difficult as you might think from the press reviews.
  23. When we changed from an IS250 to an IS300h we had a similar change in fuel usage. We used to get about 32.5mpg on the IS250 and about 47mpg with the IS300h in similar conditions.
  24. There used to be a racing driver many years ago called Brendan MacInerney. I used to think he was 3 people...
  25. Dear Kevin, Regarding the offer to reserve a convertible, I think it was from Lexus UK HQ. I have deleted the message now so I can't be sure. I am sorry to hear abut your wife. Co-incidentally, my wife also had MS (of the primary progressive variety) and was very severely disabled by the time of her death in 2001. I understand how difficult it is to handle this type of situation so you have my best wishes. Malcolm
