  1. @wendleYour car looks fantastic! So, my LC is pretty much the same age as Wendle's and I have done 12500 miles on mixed roads. I also have very few stone or other marks of any kind. Maybe it is the aerodynamics of the car. The film protectors in front of the rear wheels have some scarring but I live in a rural area with gravel frequently on the roads.
  2. Japan is a very volcanic country. I imagine the seismic warning is just a translation of the original text. Co-incidentally. the alarm on our NX just randomly went off outside the house this afternoon for the first time. I took a look and couldn't find any issues so it must have been a tremor. 😄
  3. The correct pressure for normal use is 2.2 bar. The ~ symbol indicates over 160 km/hr (100 mph) and, confusingly, up to 100 mph. I don't think that continuous speeds over a ton are practical in the UK especially in the NX. 😄 (I also have an LC500...) 🙂
  4. Our NX is also Sonic White and looks very good in the sun when you can see the crystalline surface. Ours is coated with G3 Glasscoat and is pretty good at disguising general road dirt. I am constantly surprised at how dirty the car actually is when I go to wash it. I use various things: - the G3 Glasscoat supplied ceramic shampoo via bucket and sponge - Autoglym Polar Blast snow foam via pressure washer Both options give a very good finish but I find that the snow foam still needs a bit of sponge agitation to really get the dirt off. After nearly 2 years the paint is still perfect.
  5. Which vaccine did you have? We have both had our first doses of the Astra Zeneca vaccine (due for second at end of April) and I just felt a bit under par for a day while my partner had mild nausea the next day. All was well after that except for a sore arm for a couple of days. I have heard a report of worse reactions to the second jab but I don't know anyone who has had this yet.
  6. Our experience is much the same as Neo_gsf above. We also use the radar cruise control on less busy motorways set at 75mph (true speed just over 70mph). We don't use LDA/LTA as it warns just too often for us. AHBC is pretty poor in rural areas. We are not sure if the model which you are getting has the "smart" parking sensors. These really are useful as they brake you to a stop before you hit anything when creeping into a parking space. 🙂
  7. This reminds me of the original preamble to the Arnold Schwarzenegger film "The Running Man". This was a fake advertisment for an anti theft system which turned the driver's seat into an electric chair if the car were broken into. This was deleted from later releases of the film. Pity.
  8. Yes, get it back to the dealer! My LC paint is like glass. The 5 layer Sonic Red is tricky but you would think the factory should be able to get it right.
  9. Can you reveal which dealer you took it to?
  10. Lexus call it the LC500 Convertible. @royoftherovers The woke police will be along in a moment. 🙂
  11. I was out in my LC500 today and, to my surprise, saw another identical red one going the other way within 3 miles of my house! We were on the A36 at Alderbury. I was going west and the other LC was going east (towards Southampton) at about 12:00. The other driver just managed a flash of headlamps in acknowledgement but I was too slow to return the compliment. Was this any member on here?
  12. When I test drove the LC, both the V8 and the Hybrid had the "bling" 21 inch wheels. The ride was fine but I decided on the 20 inch because IMO they look better. There is a slight difference in ride compliance but this may be due to the tyres being Turanzas instead of Potenzas or Michelin PSS. Yes, the wheels are interchangeable. as they clear the brakes OK.
  13. This would be a fine explanation except for the fact that this issue seems principally to occur in wet conditions. (BTW, my car has the 3G Glasscoat).
  14. The fuse box you need for trickle charging is the one on the nearside (on RHD cars). There are 4 clips which are released by pressing them inwards and then pulling the fuse box lid off. The positive battery connector is under a red cover which is also retained by a plastic clip. This is all very simple once you have done it at first. The fusebox cover clips can be a bit tricky as you need to press the center parts of the clips to release them. I hope this helps.
  15. Sorry to hear that you have had these issues. Have you tried the "Vaseline" fix as described earlier in this thread? It's very simple and unlikely to damage anything. Our NX is still OK after application in December 2019.
  16. With the hybrids you don't actually have to drive anywhere. Just put the car in ready mode on your driveway and leave it in "P" for 30 minutes to an hour once a week. The engine will start from time to time as the car manages the main battery charge. https://blog.lexus.co.uk/lexus-hybrid-parked/
  17. I was driving my red LC north on the A326 Totton Bypass at 13:30 today when a black LC500 came up right behind me. I was so surprised I almost went over the kerb on the A336 roundabout. The black car turned right towards Morrisons at the next roundabout. I waved but could not see if there was any response. Was this anyone on here? Sorry if I cut you a bit close on your right turn. This must be the most incredibly rare occurrence.
  18. Interesting you note 8degC as the limit for comfortable roof down use. I used to have an SL500 and I experimented at different temperatures coming to the same conclusion as you - roof down over 8degC.
  19. I use the AutoGlym snow foam (diluted 1:5) with my Stihl pressure washer. It clings well and works OK to remove the worst of the grime but the pressure washer pulses when using the foam lance. Reverting back to the normal jet everything is fine. I don't understand this as I have a good water supply and pressure. The detergent spray which came with the washer does not give a very good result as noted above I find that to get a really good result I have to apply the foam leave it for a bit and then go over the car with a sponge to loosen the greasy road dirt. A pressure wash off then gives a pristine finish.
  20. @First_LexusWhen you unlocked it, did you open a door or just leave it? If you don't open something then it does, indeed, relock itself. I have had a look through the locking options and can't see a setting that would enable this feature. Oh well...
  21. Once you get one, you start seeing them... 😄
  22. The Climate concierge basically does all you mention in your post but automatically. It manages both heating and cooling of the seats and heating of the steering wheel dependent on the settings of the interior temperature and the outside temperature. I fiddled about with the settings on mine when I got the car but eventually went back to the defaults as Lexus have done a pretty good job in setting these up. They just work without your intervention and switch off themselves as required. I just leave the CC on all the time with the aircon on auto and it does everything. I use the aircon eco setting as, in the UK, it doesn't get cold or hot enough to need full power A/C and it keeps the fan noise down.
  23. +1 on this! There are many batteries with similar dimensions and terminal types which will physically fit but have the opposite polarity. Be very careful.
  24. Well, I have read pages 84 to 88 and 116 onwards in the manual and I don't understand it. The alarm does set 30 seconds after you lock the car. The car does automatically lock after 30 seconds if you unlock it and don't open a door but what it does not do is lock itself and arm the alarm if you get out and walk away leaving it unlocked. Can you indicate where this is expressed in the manual. I have washed the car many times leaving it unlocked on the drive with the key well away from the car.
  25. I would just like to understand this issue better. You stop the car, switch off, get out of the unlocked car (with the key in your pocket), walk off and the car locks and alarms itself. If I have understood this correctly, then there is certainly a fault in the key detection system. On our NX you can get out and leave the car unlocked with no issues and it does nothing but sit there.
