@MNMJ So as a man with very obvious taste in 'F's Lexus Sidcup put on sale a Black Rcf Carbon yesterday no pictures as yet priced at £38+ according to my little data bank it's the only one in the Uk in Black, did you consider a Carbon Or an Rcf in any other colour....... pic of yours would be nice purely in the interests of reasearch of course 🤗 🐀

@FTBBCVoodoo American terminology 🙄 Anyway its the area between the V at the top of the block between the heads there is a large shaped aluminium water jacket that sits atop the engine that coolant runs through and it’s adhesived into place no gasket. There have been instances in the states of them weeping. 🐀

Never heard of it here, I’ve checked through every thread on the club forum from 2008 - 2018 nothing not one. Thats not to say no one here in the Uk has had it but as there are only 213 cars registered here and not one mention of it. In any event it’s hardly the end of the world it’s a leak nothing more nothing less exchange rate cost £500.00 quid to resolve. If you’re that concerned about this aspect just buy a car under warranty and keep it that way. Big Rat

If it is the water pump you are referring to they are situated low down front of block, earlier cars the pumps seeped nothing more, they do not fail. Most would have been changed by now, if not it’s a £3-400 fix at Lexus or if it’s under warranty nowt. 🐀

There you are you’ve found your next car in your last sentence.......reliability ive been fortunate over the years or unfortunate depending where you stand to have had the M3’s M5’s Porsche gt’s turbo’s and so on and was late to the lexus game. Boy I’m glad I did it at least now when I set off on a journey I know I will get back without being on the back of a low loader. Pound for pound performance they are hard to beat, and an atmospheric engine is a better long term reliability proposition than a turbo, especially engines built the way Lexus do. @Flytvr The Calibra was a good car it may have been a cavalier with its best suit on but it had a brilliant selection of engines. Anyway any car designed by a man with a name like Wayne Cherry has to be good hasn’t it....... 🐀

@bvhout A nice write up and I tend to agree with you about saving the car, if you consider it ‘the special one’ as such and it gives a sense of occasion why not. The Mercedes is a good looking car I love the proportions of the Cl from that era, the new stuff is over styled and fussy. Oh nice looking Home as well, you are clearly a man with an eye for proportionality, sorry it’s the builder in me ! Big Rat

@mrfunex And look at the internal engine problems that both the Mercedes has had C63 stretched head bolts and the M3 spinning crank shells......... Id be wrong to say either of these engines have had lots of major issues they haven't I've owned the M3 and had access use of a C63 would I buy a product again from either of these companies absolutely not as engines aside they both suffer from numerous other problems niggles...... I want reliability now and @FTBBCVoodoois absolutely right they are reliable all the 'F's have a reliability record the Germans could only dream of...... if they could be bothered that is 🐀
