So I started a refurb job today for a customer Kitchen-Bathroom-cloakroom stuff like that. The aspect that was always going to be the worst I decided to tackle first knowing that everything else would be a cake walk. The ground floor is suspended timber with very narrow voids which I had to crawl down to dig out and replace 2 lengths of damaged soil pipes and copper pipe up for the new sink /toilet supplies. So you are thinking its bad but not that bad, but the soil pipes had been leaking for some time 💩 Its bearable as inside the breathing kit I was wearing I sprayed some of Mrs Rats Channel no5, always wondered what it was for ! Bloody hard graft but 71/2 hours later all done and tested in one go yippee 😀 Mentally and physically k........ In the shower and out in the IS-F for a blast over the sunny mendip hills - it felt sooooooo goooooood 😂 Big Rat

Yep @Chuckie478 is right expensive cars have on going costs that match there original purchase price, fact. If you can afford to buy, run one of these I think it's right to have the warranty for the peace of mind, there are those who say pay into your own monthly war chest for the unforeseen depends if you can be that disciplined. These things I feel can have the opportunity to bite you badly financially which can sour the ownership experience which is not what any of us want, the days are long gone when most of us can do our spannering with instances like @Flytvr has had. On one of the few trips I did to the Ring with friends I was n my 996 Gt3 they were in a Caterham and a S2 Exige. As much as anything else it was about power to weight ratio me down the straights them in the bends. Me having to work much harder ultimately it was a waste of time, best to give up before the red mist descends or someone's bag of talent runs out. Big Rat

As much as anything else it comes down to cost, if it was me use what you have initially and see how you et on. As regards a wider tyre I'm not so sure because if you go wider on the rear without rolling the lip it may foul. Big Rat

It's really good fun, in the right environment, if you are going to do some track days, then save some pennies for tyres 😁 Big Rat

Lovely looking car, speaking as a previous 530D/535D owner of years gone by. Yes I agree all main dealers can be expensive, I have over 2 years warranty left on mine so want to keep the history going with them, I'll look at it again in the future. The fact remains you can negotiate with these people, I decided against a service pack as feel I can do better my last service car 38k so had the 40k service. All in and it's a fairly comprehensive one came to with negotiation a little over £400.00 that was with the VAT. I would not be prepared to pay £300.00 for an oil change if that is what it is if for example the car was high mileage and out of warranty. Big Rat

When I bought mine they gave a 1litre top up to put in the boot, not that it has ever needed a drop in 9k. They used Castrol that's what was on the invoice for the service at the Lexus dealer then and when checking that's what had always been used. So being a creature of consistency I'll stick with that, it's a theme with me Guinness- silver cars - castrol 😝 Joking aside its a good price but last service Lexus matched what I was going to provide, and it came to just over £40.00.
