  1. @Spacewagon52 Been discussed on here in previous threads David, it came here from Jersey a few months ago and went through Mannheim auctions a number of times before being sold, I have spoken to the dealer on behalf of another member on here and he chose to buy elsewhere. Ive a fair bit of info on the car should anybody else be interested in it. Big Rat
  2. @steveledzep Yes right again on all counts, still a good engine though, a poor mans 911 😏 Big Rat
  3. @steveledzep Yes you are absolutely right, it was either this or a mini and a knowledgeable friend said go for the car with what was a version of a Coventry climax ( No laughing please) a great engine, which apparently started life as a water pump for the fire brigade ! Think memory serves me right on most of that anyway, all the imp variants had a reputation for unreliability overheating, gearbox, and drive shaft doughnuts. Never had any issues with mine 👍 Big Rat
  4. @Spacewagon52 My first car was similar model a stiletto YHR 752 K where are you now ! Big Rat
  5. @steve2006 Listen anybody who has the b.... to run a car related website in this day and age has my undying admiration, you only have to go and look at sites like Pistonheads where there are a considerable number of posters who clearly haven't the slightest bit of interest in the subject matter and simply want to alienate and insult all others. Whereas on here it's populated by the intelligent polite informative type of poster who strictly stick to the subject matter and never have stupid inane conversations about food drink car colour and heaven forbid even mention age or driving skills or lack there of. Ask anybody in the isF forum who will I'm sure back me up in this 🤥 🐀
  6. Well done Steve it's his age...... @Flytvr now which is the accelerator and which is the brake whoa............. 😁 🐀
  7. @emjay82 Mark you are wrong the reason the reason that @Rusty Crobar is not in shot is because he was caught trying to jump the que inside in disguise........tut tut 😂 Big Rat
  8. Saw @Mark G leaving McDonald's in his usual style at the lights 🤗
  9. @Warrington guy I'm many things fat isn't one of them, well not yet anyway 😂 Big Rat
  10. Yes all those eighties locks were easy to overcome, this is a Thatcham approved relatively modern one which can be had for around £80.00, its very important to remember when in use make sure not to lose the key ! On holiday last September in Norfolk parked the Isf in an isolated car park and put it on came back a few hours later and realised I'd lost the key 🙄 I wont say how I removed it but they are pretty effective. Big Rat
  11. @mikeyv Good idea I'll wander over later, so to speak. Big Rat
  12. @mikeyv You've prompted me to do some searching later now 👍 Big Rat
  13. @mikeyv Yep you are absolutely right, personally I think the GXL was the best of the bunch, a friend had an Orange one black vinyl roof, mine was Fern Green all over. IMO one of the best engines ever let alone in its era, I seem to remembering the Essex V6 was original penned for a diesel, which was why it was such a torquey motor. I loved it. Big Rat
  14. @mikeyv Capri 3.0GXL nice very nice had a 3000E, can't remember the difference between the two, was the 3.0 GXL slightly later ? Big Rat
  15. @The-Acre Nice very nice, never had an American car been tempted in the past love the simplicity of these vehicles 👍 Big Rat
  16. @The-Acre Phil how about this beauty is it the same model as your old one ? http://www.sa-cia.co.za/uscars/chevrolet-chevelle/ Big Rat
  17. @Spacewagon52 Makeing no apologies for gratuitous showing of another one, I love this picture 😋
  18. @Spacewagon52 David Yes the values are well on the up and in my opinion justifiably so, they are a very good looking car, in fact there was a car meet at AV8 Cafe on the 20th November 2016 no more than 20 or so assorted cars, one of which was a pale yellow 1600 ST, it was in fantastic condition inside and out. They owner was obviously not bothered about using it it was pouring down ! Ive been specific about the date and location as there is a YouTube video of the day can't seem to find it 🤔 I agree about the maintenance of these vehicles and the peace of mind of a warranty, I'm fine with nail guns and roof trusses modern cars don't react well to attempted repairs to shall we say the body work to one of these....... I to agree agree about the LS in time it will happen the engineering in them is marvellous, had an elderly neighbour some years ago with a 400 who used to fly out of Bristol airport to see family abroad didn't like leaving it at the airport car park so I was employed on chauffeur duties, it was head and shoulders above my then M5 in many respects except the performance obviously. But the sheer quality of the whole package made the the M5 feel like a very 4th division contender ! The days of a fully attended national Japanese classic car show are on the horizon 🤗 Big Rat
  19. @Spacewagon52 David here's a little treat for you 👍 Big Rat
  20. @lockeyboy I'm sorry to hear that matey, we've all been there at sometime or another, when I first got divorced many moons ago I had no vehicle when I was returning a property to get me back on the horse so to speak, I bought a Nissan Micra off a mate 9 months tax +mot for a ton. Ripped out the interior except drivers seat and used it for everything and I mean everything ! It was insured under what was known as 'The road traffic act ' the mimimum you were allowed back then. Unfourtunatley 'Microskip' as she was known suspension collapses one day and my intention was to scrap her but I didn't have the £75.00 to pay the scrap yard ! So if you ever drive between Bath & Bristol and see a very sorry looking Grey Nissan Micra........ Good days have returned though 👍 Bug Rat
  21. @Jgtcracer Agree with all of that, the perfect car for all occasions does not exist, just look at M3 /M4 at the moment the number of changes and special additions being released is mind boggling the latest one is around the 90k mark. They really know how to empty people's wallets, some will hold their value I'm sure but it's not a game I'd be prepared to play ! Big Rat
  22. @Womble72 Never use that phrase of " How many handbags and shoes " The response is always the same..... Big Rat
  23. @Tom24 Be great if you could hang onto it, you'd get the best of both worlds ! Stabillse the drive, then gravel it in the stone of your choice you'll save sufficient monies to fund the bike purchases ! As long as you use this underneath the gravel you'll have a firm surface. Big Rat
  24. @Tom24 Sorry to hear your off Matey, but I've always believed it's important to fulfill our motoring needs in what ever form they take it's what choice is all about, but quite why any one wants to dress like a power ranger on a hot summers day is beyond me 😂 But seriously though hope you get the wheels you want and some lucky beggar is going to get a nice ISF 👍 🐀
  25. @Mark G +1 As I mentioned in the beginning i to have been buying the mag, I couldn't overcome the locks on @Mark G house 😂 But seriously I think it's one of the better ones out there so I don't have a problem. 🐀
