  1. Hi Dan, isn't your Rescue limited to 60 days abroad? The OP wanted max 90 days...
  2. It seems so; http://www.justanswer.com/lexus/7vxvf-lexus-rx400h-2007-rx400h-let-sit-week.html
  3. Just disconnect the negative terminal, simples.
  4. On my GS it's the small 12v battery in the boot, that looks like car batteries always have I see this thread is in for a RX, so presumably the battery 12v is still in the engine bay?
  5. Hi Howard, I had exactly the same situation when swapping DVD's in my GS. The only way to prevent the constant DVD reboots was to disconnect the small 12v battery, have a brew, reconnect the battery and then the DVD started up okay. It's been okay since too. Disconnecting the small 12v battery will loose your trip readings/etc but nothing major occurred for me. The battery disconnect was detailed in the brief instructions I received, did you receive any guidance with your DVD? Let us know how you get on.
  6. Thanks John, at lunchtime I scanned the account differences as we recently started banking there. I already have Travel Insurance through work and EU relay via AF but will definitely compare the costs at renewal time.
  7. Good to hear about the Nationwide 'deal', I'll look into it when my renewals come around. Thanks.
  8. It's potty that you can't source an boot from Lexus, are any alternatives listed at your local auto factor? If push comes to shove, I used a split gaiter years ago and it held up perfectly well. At least until the car died a death, 3/4 years later. They're quick to install too Good luck getting a new boot installed 'cos gaffer tape isn't going to last long. At least we're out of the winter rainy season, we now just have the summer rain to look forward too!
  9. What a heart warming experience, there's hope for us after all. Sounds like a good chap to know/be aware of and thanks for letting us know.
  10. So you think the shock of the large bump killed off the wheel bearing? Are the bearings still original?
  11. Welcome to the forum, that's a great looking car you've found yourself PS: if only all car parks were that quiet, then we could all take up 4 bays
  12. I'm having the tired paint corrected next week, including touching up the bonnet rash. The detailer mentioned the option of a ceramic coating and YouTube vids do look impressive/long lasting (apparently). Has anyone done this on their car? What product was used? Was it expensive? Is the weekly clean easier? Has it lasted well?
  13. Just had a long weekend over on the Belgian coast and covering 500+ miles we averaged 41mpg (tank to tank calc). Happy with that The on board trip 'puter wasn't far off either, much to my surprise. The miles wafted by and several times MrsF thought we were pootling. But we were actually cruising at the legal limit Down to the comfort and ride of the GS I guess. I was surprised that we easily got our luggage in the boot too Oh and the weather was fantastic.
  14. What a great shine and awesome pic's too, thanks for sharing.
  15. Well done, is fitting a different stalk all that is needed to get cruise working?
  16. Thanks for confirming about the brakes John. Curious that the 300H is noisy, not what i would expect.
  17. That's much more useful, I added one to my previous vehicle and used it all the time.
  18. A convertible probably has a bigger boot than a Hybrid GS 😛 I think the boot rack has a few good points vs a roof rack. For smaller loads it should be more aero dynamic. The rack is also smaller and easier to store, especially once you've reached your destination.
  19. Has anyone used a either a boot bag https://boot-bag.com/index.htm or boot rack https://boot-bag.com/luggage_racks.htm on their GS? Just stumbled across them whilst looking at roof racks, again. I'm not liking the idea of the boot mounted bag on the paint and the straps seem like they'll limit the already small boot. The rack is a maybe but would have a smaller capacity than a roof rack. Both would limit access to the boot too.
  20. I also coated the rusty rear disk bells with some Bilt Hamber Hydrate 80 Rust Killer. It's the first time I've used it but it seems to work well, pals rate it. I didn't have time for it to fully cure before painting, so I'll see how good it's own protective coating is ;)
  21. Thanks. @Shahpor, crumbs to have both calipers seize is is unlucky. Good that the were both fixed under warranty tho, kinda lucky in a way [emoji38] It's just the sliders that sieze and not the main pistons tho right? I havent had a close look at my front calipers but think they're big fixed units, sans sliders.
