  1. Cripes, that's nasty. Was the valve gunked up too? Did you clean out the manifold too? I did a Civic derv a few years back and the EGR valve wasn't as bad as yours. But near to the cylinder head the gunk build up was much thicker.
  2. Did this knock occur before the recent brake changes? Some brake pads aren't such a snug fit in the caliper and can knock. Does your car knock when braking going backwards, then again when going forwards? I've had this on other cars and found changing the pad and pad manufacturer solved the loose pad knocking.
  3. Welcome to the forum Marko. Once the Sport button is pressed the GS should have more than enough 'urgency' for road use. Even in Normal mode it's more than adequate. Enjoy the car.
  4. Take a look here http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/108151-12v-battery-kaput/ Sorry it's a brief reply, i'm out atm
  5. I don't follow you there, the springs are part of the suspension. Corrosion and can lead to weak springs, again down to poor quality metals and/or coatings. Anyhoo, good that they spotted the issue otherwise it may have caused a nasty accident. What does the Lexus repair cost cover?
  6. Broken springs seem to be getting more common these days, across all makes/models. Poor materials and poor roads appear to be common factors of such failures, so I wouldn't be unduly concerned about the vehicles towing ability. Vehicles that have tow bars homologated have to pass tests to prove they are capable of towing a given weight safely. Jack, are they replacing both sides for that cost? Suspension 'should' ideally be replaced in pairs across the affected axle.
  7. You sure do have an eye for the details. The skirts look surprisingly well on your car, well done.
  8. I wish you good luck sourcing replacements and hope the car wash do the right thing by you.
  9. Norman, what a PITA Are the lights difficult to source?
  10. Oh dear. In my youth, I used to work at a car wash and found all manner of bits from cars. Since then, I have only washed our cars by hand. Were the lights that got ripped out, loose?
  11. Someone recently mentioned that the HU will play DVD's when you are parked up, in Accessories mode. Not tried it myself and not sure if the comment is applicable to all model/years.
  12. Wow, what a great lookin' car. Well done. Do you know what products the detailer used?
  13. I wasn't just referring to the mag's title, their website lists 'It celebrates the golden age of cars, bringing you the finest motors from the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s.' I'm all for raising the profile of the IS-F, it'll keep the GS-F as a modern sleeper that few know about Crumbs are there really just 200 IS-F on the isle? The less said about the current POTUS the better me thinks.
  14. Hi Lee, Welcome to the forum. There was a similar thread on this recently, let me see if I can find it...here you go That should get you started. Have a brew and browse the forums for a while, you'll uncover lots of useful tidbits. The Hybrid system appears to be pretty reliable, although issues can occur (as with anything). The battery packs can be repaired though at a fraction of the cost of a dealer wanting to swap out the entire unit. Happy hunting.
  15. Is the paint code not listed on the drivers door, b pillar? I'm sure there was a similar question about this only the other day. Either that or the heat has got to me...
  16. Could you modify this? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/232302796731
  17. Is there a label on the drivers door reveal? That's where I found my paint code. I would have expected the VIN code checker (https://vindecoder.eu) to show me the paint code but it doesn't.
  18. Richard / @hybridbatterysolutions, do you have any comments for Adewale?
  19. Welcome to the forum, sorry to hear that you have issues with your GS hybrid. Those error codes have been known to pop up before, so you should be able to find a solution. Rather than replacing the whole battery pack, are you aware that faulty battery cells can be replaced? Check this earlier thread; http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/99506-lexus-gs450h-hybridtraction-battery/ and I'm sure that Richard would be able to provide you with a more cost effective repair vs a dealer. Good luck and do keep on posted on your progress.
  20. Welcome to the forum. How do you compare the IS to the 3-series?
  21. Welcome to the forum, you've a nice list of cars there. Why did you purchase two LS400's? - they have very different mileages.
  22. Neither had I until this time. Thanks, I'll look into Aqua Wax. There are so many great products out there these days.
  23. The heated seats help but the cool footwell air chills mrsF's toosies, in the cooler months! My GS has a split personality, a cruiser and a torpedo. Hehe. I know what you mean, the Lexus is much smoother and a much more pleasant place to be. We can zip to Belgium in the Lexus and get out as fresh as a daisy. The Civic chew up the miles as easily but was a bit more tiring to drive. FRSU and a heavy clutch didn't help. The 450H has remarkable performance and economy. Although it's less economical vs the Civic it's soooo worth it. I'm not sure coilovers will ever go on the GS to be honest. The OEM dampers are good all rounders and the double wishbone/multilink setup works very well for me.
