  1. I'm no expert on the dash cam's that are available, but there are plenty of websites that review and compare the kit. I went with the F770 as Thinkware kit gets good reviews, it's sleek and does't have a screen, it's good quality, has a nice features (speed camera alerts) and is 2 channel (front and rear camera's)...it also has a bunch of features I don't use like parked recordings, lane departure warnings, etc. I see that the Viofo A119S got a good review here; https://dashboardcamerareviews.com/viofo-a119s/ - I though you said you weren't interested in a camera with a screen tho? In my thread you see that I earthed to the forward fuse board bolt
  2. Hard wiring a dash cam is relatively straight forward, I did mine earlier this year and you're hard pressed to see it. Thinkware F770 -> http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/110248-hunting-for-a-gs-450h/?page=4#comment-984465 I piggy backed power from the drivers foot well fuse board; http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/110248-hunting-for-a-gs-450h/?page=4#comment-984345 When looking for dash cams ensure the supply is the correct voltage, not all run off 12v. Either buy a camera with a 12v feed or if it runs off a lower voltage (5v) then ensure you use a step down, the camera's own hardwire kit should handle this. As for a guide, check out this write up by @Pidu http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/95452-diy-fitting-auto-dimming-rear-view-mirror/ Good luck and let us know how you get on.
  3. Welcome to the forum. That's a great pic of your car, let's hear what you've done thus far and what you have e in the pipeline...
  4. Wh00t, well done you for finding the cause of the issue 👍 Do you have any idea how the connections become contaminted?
  5. Well found, it does look good considering its age. I see there's plenty of foks watching it...
  6. Excellent, thanks for the feedback. I sharp styling is pretty cool and I like it. It seems that Lexus have stepped up quality/etc a notch on their best selling model then 👍 A shame it's a bit less practical tho, why is the boot smaller on the 4RX?
  7. Is there a control switch on the passenger end of the dashboard, visible once you open the door? You'll often need to insert your ignition key to enable/disable that particular airbag. Let us know how you get on.
  8. Dang, if I'd have known I'd have popped over to the dealer (my local) and raised a glass with you.
  9. Hurrah, at last and thanks for FINALLY revealing the...secret. Looks like a pretty nice motor, did you spec it yourself? Will be interested to hear how you compare old vs new.
  10. That's how I read it too. The tease image is just that and frankly I'm loosing the will...
  11. Now that's good to hear, I guess keeping the small 12v topped up reduced the drain on the bigger traction battery? Do you know how many bars your traction battery had when you put her to sleep? Did you hook up the charger directly to your small 12v battery in the boot or elsewhere? What capacity solar charger do you use? On a related note...do I recall a key fob setting that can be disabled during a low period of use? Effectively shutting down the key fob scanning function.
  12. Excellent, well done. I do like a thrifty fix.
  13. Crumbs the MR2 has been a handful.
  14. Welcome to the forum. Having Lexus service the vehicle is a kinda good idea because of the hybrid features, as part of their service they will check and annual warranty the hybrid system up to 10 years/140k miles. But if you'd prefer to service elsewhere (a perfectly valid alternative if you have a reputable indi nearby) then the Lexus hybrid check/annual warranty can be done separately for around £65pa. Don't worry about the Hybrid side of things too much as they are well engineered. If issues do occur say with the battery, it can be repaired via specialists at a much reduced cost than Lexus swapping out the entire unit for £2.5k If you don't mind me asking, what issues did the MR2 give you? Meanwhile enjoy your RX400h.
  15. @rayaans good luck today whilst picking up your mysterious new steed.
  16. ^ ditto, your car look great and the pics are amazing.
  17. Never seen a GS boot but I'm guessing its full of hybrid gubbins? Would never get the pram in there then! Nope, a golf bag is about all that'll fit (just). PS: sorry but Tapatalk isn't quoting very well for me atm (Android).
  18. Yeah the old civic got a lot more in than my IS too ...and waaay more than my GS!
  19. That's a surprise, good pic's btw. My old Civic had a surprisingly big booty with a similar profile to the pic's. The Civic could stow much, much more than the wife's Golf, not carrying a spare wheel made a substantial difference to the load lugging. You still can't have either of the Germanic offerings.
  20. ^ thank gawd for that. If you need space, then the Merc and Beemer don't look like contenders with their 'aero' tail gates.
  21. true, very true. On a related note, I just picked up a roof rack for my GS (so it can haul our bicycles).
  22. Ah, you got me there. Or rather, I presumed you'd take the GS
  23. John, if your car has HID's then aren't they flat beam in the GS 450H which do not require deflectors fitted for continental driving?
  24. So we'll know by the weekend. Just not sure which weekend!
  25. Your RX does indeed look great, I doft my hat to you for keeping her looking so well. I'm learning that you're the master of 'tease' threads! Good luck in your new steed, whatever it may be...
