  1. You say the head gasket has recently been replaced, may I ask why? It might be worth having the same garage take a look at your current issue? - as it could be related... Good luck.
  2. Maybe a boost pipe has popped off or split? Has your car been regularly serviced and maintained? Oh and welcome to the forum.
  3. Mark @lockeyboy , glad to hear that your door has eventually been repaired but so sorry to see the rear bumper is now marked. What rotten luck, you must be due a break so take a punt on the Lottery! Fingers crossed that the bumper is repaired promptly.
  4. Blimey, they came up really well
  5. I hadn't realised that the spare wheel well could carry so many litres. That'd pretty much double the cars range. Good call, my previous car carried sealant and a compressor instead of a spare and thankfully we never needed to use it. So we probably saved a few quid not hauling around a spare over the years. Spare wheels are often dropped in order to get the vehicle stat's inline with the latest reg's. Good luck making progress with this. Beware tho, Robb will want you to start a mod thread ;)
  6. I hadn't seen the UK Gov website for this before, is easy to use and shows all you need to know (including the categories). Check yours here; https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence After Gary's @Verbout comment of incorrect info, I've just taken Evernote extracts of mine. Thanks.
  7. LPG is a fascinating subject and has several challenges to overcome. Combined fueling now seems to be a viable option, to add petrol and lube the valves when idling or under high load. In the GS 450H I'm not sure where you'll be able to add a LPG tank and retain some boot space. The boot is already on the small size. The fuel savings are tempting but some places restrict LPG vehicles e.g. Le Shuttle 😢 Which we'd find a bore.
  8. Hmmm, you may well be right there. They then just stick their own logo on.
  9. Oh okay, mine turned up in a day or two...ftw. I was just curious to hear about the quality...
  10. @dougie175, has your Toyo roof rack/bars carrier turned up yet?
  11. Excellent news, well done. Do try and contain your excitement and get some sleep between now and pick up time ;)
  12. ^ this. Turbo'd cars don't often don't make good exhaust noises either. As you're not fussed about the extra a power, I reckon you'd be making yourself a whole heap of work for little gain. After modding, insurance may rocket too.
  13. I tried to do that after reading about it in the manual but couldn't move it. Looks like you need a fair bit of force? Interesting, so maybe not all models have this facility. I wouldn't force them without first checking your manual to confirm it's supposed to do this.
  14. Hmmm, the manual extract says "You can shift the wipers to the rest position manually. (In heavy snow or icy condition etc.)" So perhaps if snow builds up at the base of the screen, then the wipers won't ram/pack it down. The wipers will feel resistance and park slightly higher without burning out the wiper motor. I think... Alan @Ala Larj sorry to hijack the thread.
  15. To allow the arms to sit under the bonnet until the blades need changing, then retract them to allow them to pull off the screen and not hit the bonnet. Also something to do with winter and snow not collecting and clogging the blades as easily. Which is kinda odd as it moves them further up the screen and away from the heater vents.
  16. After looking at wiper arm info, I didn't know that some Lexus have a 'rest' and a 'retracted'/winter position for the arms. I've just checked my manual and there is indeed 'rest' and 'retract' info under 'Shifting the windshield wiper position'. Like this;
  17. Adjusting a wiper is a simple spanner job. Sealing the screen is the tricky part but they should be up to the task. Just out of interest, which company is making the change for you? Good luck and let us know how you get on.
  18. Do you know that your RHD vehicle will be anymore difficult to fix? The steering wheel might actually make the job easier on a right hooker? After a another quick search it seems a relatively straight forward job to do on a RHD car, link below. I took a look at the servo's in my GS for the passenger foot well receiving only cold air and that was a royal PITA. Some bright spark decided to mount 2 servo's on a mounting plate that then hooks up to 6(ish, I'm trying to forget it was soooo awful) mostly independent pins, slots/guides. Trying to get everything lined up was a complete pig. It's looks like you just have 1 servo to work on, so I reckon it'll be much easier for you, so get crackin'...
  19. I wasn't sure what a G37 looked like so... Here it is against the IS rag top... Reference article; http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/23/automobiles/autosreviews/23AUTO.html The G37 infotainment controls look awkward. Here's a comparison to the SC430; http://www.thecarconnection.com/car-compare-results/infiniti_g37-convertible_2010-vs-lexus_sc-430_2010
  20. This appears to be a fairly common problem, certainly on the US forums. One issue is the worm gear in the servo works loose. Is the servo making a noise continuously? Hopefully this search works for you; https://www.google.co.uk/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=lexus+rx+servo+site:www.clublexus.com&safe=on
  21. Flipping to EV mode quickly in hotter temps soon after starting (from cold) is normal provided the traction battery has a good reserve. It's a bit spooky but you soon get used to it. My wife hasn't driven my Hybrid much (yet) and gets totally flummoxed by the EV switching.
