  1. Has anyone bought/used waterproof seat covers for their gen3 GS? Would appreciate some guidance for some that are truly waterproof and that fit reasonably well. Mainly for the front seats but will consider a set for the rears too. Or if anyone has any experience of a car seat supplier, then please chime in. I checked fleabay last night and some of the ads Descriptions said they might fit the car yet the title said they were made for the vehicle!
  2. That's some saving, still pricey but I see that towbar prices have increased since I last looked for a new 'un (approx 10yrs ago). Well found, who'd have thought it'd be worth calling the stealer? Did you phone any towbar specialists for prices?

Wow, that's a great colour Enjoy.

  5. Sounds like the same steps in my old steed... I swapped for a nice leather upgrade :) The seats were easy but 4 door cards and the center arm rest were the most time consuming.
  6. There's a bold move. I'm quite surprised how well they look and wouldn't have considered such a thing till I clocked the pic's. Well done, was the seat swap relatively straight forward? Was anything wrong with your previous seats?
  7. Excellent, glad to hear that you've stretched her legs already. Ah, the state of your paintwork sounds familiar. I hope that you're up to the job of buffing her back to gleamyness. You'd best be eatin' plenty of spinach ;)
  8. Mark / @lockeyboy, good to finally see your new chariot. Wrapping bits? Oh dreary me, what are you thinking! More importantly, how are you getting along with it?
  9. Well done John, sounds like you've covered all the parts there. Will be interested to see how it works out for you. Those new silencers are slightly smaller than OEM right? OEM can's are VERY quiet.
  10. Welcome to the GS club, how are you finding it vs the IS? 2) here; On mine I seem to recall there's a reset button on the drivers footwell and a A/B button in the passengers footwell.
  11. Nice one, lets us know how you get on. Googlemaps/Waze are okay but I don't get a reliable data signal so use Sygic with it's offline maps. To be fair Google are getting better and better at this, which is commendable considering it's free. Roaming charges abroad used to mean I'd always use an app with built in maps. This is not such an issue now that the UK phone company's have been told to stop over charging.
  12. Yeah, it's kinda odd that the prices don't differ for grooved/etc. Adding the protective coating will bump the price up a bit but it really will keep the disks looking good.
  13. https://help.sygic.com/en/sygic-car-navigation/first-installation/how-to-install-sygic-car-navigation-free Oh and World/Traffic Lifetime is 75% off at the moment
  14. Sygic used to allow you to download and try it for a week before it expired or you purchased a pukka version. I've been using it for years on my mobile (Android) and it gets better and better. The maps/traffic are TomTom based and seem to work well. Address searching used to be a pain as it wasn't very slick if you chose the destination from a contact on your phone, that's improved this year tho. I now have a Worldwide Traffic lifetime licence and it's been very helpful when travelling. Once you buy in then you get free map updates. Let me know if you have any other queries.
  15. Looks like they've tweaked it since I last bought a set. Now you can search for 'plain' in their store or use this link to add plain disks to your order; http://www.mtecbrakes.com/plain-style.html Adding 'plain' over rides any dimpled/grooved option you initially selected. Plain disks are still vented (where appropriate) so don't worry about any loss of cooling.
  16. You're welcome. Plain, stick to plain Brian. Let me take a look at the dumb Checkout process for adding plain disks, hang on... I had grooved and changed them to back to plain. Grooved make a noise when you brake from speed, gets very annoying. Drilled aren't needed for road use.
  17. If you mean Sygic is 1/2 price then don't rush as they always have a sale on.
  18. Tis grand, thanks for asking
  19. Very nice, thanks for sharing. How are you finding the CT?
  20. An interesting question, I've just punched in my model/year into a couple of random alloy suppliers and they show a number of 17" options; https://www.performancealloys.com/alloy-search-results.aspx?ChassisID=11998 https://www.wheelbasealloys.com/alloy-wheels/lexus/gs-450h/2006-present/17-inch So it looks like you'll be okay with any options listed. Maybe give them a call and raise your concerns, especially if placing an order. Be careful going with your own offset choices as you might find clearance issues with some of the wheels designs, typically the spoke catching the caliper.
  21. Pals and I have used MTEC coated disks on other cars and never had any trouble. I suspect I'll be fitting a set to mine soon. The coating help to keep the bells from rusting and looking unsightly. They have 4 vehicle years listed for the LS400 http://www.mtecbrakes.com/brake-discs/lexus/ls400-89-00.html I'd get plain rather than drilled and/or grooved - which are noisy, generate more dust and wear pads quicker. Ordering plain rotors is a bit of a faff as you first select a disk, say grooved and then in your Basket add plain as an option. A 10% discount code is listed on their main/front page
  22. Glad to hear that you are liking the NX. A dash cam is one option to deter/catch naughty folks but coverage isn't great e.g. vision is typically front/rear and not side/side. If the damage occurs at home then have you considered CCTV? Wiring into the fuse board can be easy these days with the likes a piggy back fuses, here's mine (drivers foot well). The camera can be easily unplugged without the need for tools. Note the dashcam earth wire 'c' clipped to the fuse board bolt at the bottom on the pic.
  23. Welcome to the forum Ian, sorry to hear that your car has been scratched I'd wire a dashcam into the fuse board, then you can choose your fuse to be either permanent live or ignition switched. I guess the dealer wants to have 3rd party devices easily removable. Here's a recent guide from Matt that explains everything you need; Good luck and let us know how you get on. How are you finding the NX?
  24. Really? Is it not just a case that the HID's use a flat beam instead of kicking up at one side? Update: just seen this
