  1. HI Geoff, as your vehicle doesn't have any chrome trim/highlights then I think I'd be tempted by darker wheels. I don't think I'd go for full on black but a smoked or gunmetal should like good. As you are fairly local and I have a couple of set of wheels that could do with a refurb, do you mind me asking who you have lined up to refurb yours? Cheers, Lee
  2. Hi Jon, If conditions are right then you can force EV mode yourself rather than leaving the cars algorithm to control it. In the CT loaner I had the EV button seemed like a bit of a gimmick as the button override only worked on a few occasions. The vehicle needs to ensure that the battery is being managed correctly, the cabin heat is sufficient, etc so often the engine keeps running. In my older hybrid, there isn't the option to force EV mode via a button so there's less to worry about 😉 Although in my old barge, you can force EV mode with your right foot (providing x, y, z all pan out). Cheers, Lee
  3. I've PM'd you Paul
  4. Hey Paul, do the BC coilover's bolt directly to the shell or do they use the OEM buffers/top hats? I've had coilovers on previous cars and when bolted directly they transmit quite a lot of road noise into the cabin. They handle really well tho, so there's a trade off to consider.
  5. I'll also add that Tony Banks in Leeds made me up a replacement mid and rear section, with cats in stainless for much less than you mention. Other members have used TB too, that's how I found him and all have been pleased with the results. My wallet felt good too! LOL

  7. Hi Paul, they sounds like a nasty places for the exhaust to leak - Lexus often have issues much further back at the 'Y' section. I did see a second hand GS450H exhaust pop up on the bay-of-fleas recently, let me see if I can find it as it'll surely be cheaper (provided it's in good nick)...
  8. @GS3UK, you're welcome - what style are you looking for?
  9. Service plans are up to you but from your profile it's a new 2020 car, so makes sense to stick with the dealer especially if you plan to sell the car in x years time. I'd say save your money on the dealer paint protection, although to make a proper judgement you would need to know what they are offering.
  10. Ah, now that makes sense - thanks Shada
  11. Okay Scott, sounds like a plan - let us know how you get on
  12. Interesting, I've just PM'd you John @GS3UK has first dibs tho 😉
  13. I had an annoying brake tap/knock from the NSR that was cured with a new slider pin bung/guide doohickey - a cheap fix.
  14. Haha, yes...nothing happening when you press start can feel odd initially but you'll soon get used to it. Just drive it and enjoy.
  15. As per old skool method, if pulling the fuse prevents the drain then you re-fit the fuse to investigate further. If after re-fitting the fuse. the fault doesn't reappear...then you focus on finding the coldest beer 😆 I guess it all depends on what the cause of the drain is. I eagerly await to hear back from Fabian...
  16. Hi Jon, at first there seems like there's a lot to take in with our hybrids but we all soon get the hang of it. Don't leave the vehicle on/running in N or sit in a jam in N for any length of time as that mode does not change up the big hybrid/traction battery. Instead if you are stationary for any length of time then pop it in park, apply the handbrake and take your foot off the brake pedal. I've found that it's best not to sit with your foot on the brake pedal for too long either, especially after a long and/or hard stop as it leaves a little brake material on the rotor which can then make the brakes feel warped until it's cleaned off. Good brake pressure at speed will recharge the hybrid/traction battery and the combustion engine can recharge the big battery under power/when cruising or even switch on when station or when it's necessary to top up the hybrid battery. The engine will also kick in more if you have the cabin heater cranked up, so mpg will drop a bit more when it's colder. Good luck and I may see you around. Cheers, Lee
  17. How's that then Herb's, if a pulled fuse reduces the drain noticeable then surely your on your way to locating the source of the problem and have an area/circuit to dive into further? If pulling a fuse somehow resets the duff component, then that's a win too innit, as the reset somehow prevents the issue recurring. I have seen Charles video you linked above before, found it informative...so thanks for flagging it. Although it's not his technique, he does explain it well. There a numerous ways to check for electrical faults and some can be really tricky to track down. Fabian, do let us know how you get on.
  18. Hi Si, thanks that's an interesting to hear the tale of how you got there 👍 and a great looking GS The GS sure are comfy so I can understand why you have stuck with the model. Enjoy the bigger boot space ! Cheers, Lee
  19. Hi Fabian, welcome to he forum. Have you checked for a parasitic drain? e.g. https://www.wikihow.com/Find-a-Parasitic-Battery-Drain How long have you had the vehicle? Is the 12v battery in good condition/been tested? Do you know how old it is? Has the issue only just occurred since the vehicle has been stationary for a long period during COVID quarantine rules? Good luck tracking down the source of the issue.
  20. Well done thus far John I wasn't sure what that switch was and presumed it would be on the standard cruise control stalk but after a quick Google it seems it's separate; OEM prices are eye watering, as you'd expect...
  21. This site is handy to check how different wheels will look/fit; https://www.willtheyfit.com/
  22. Hi, most Lexus alloys are the same spec bar some LS/CT models, so changing to another Lexus wheel is relatively safe. Here's my wheel info for reference; Lexus GS 450 h S190 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 Wheel specs and tire sizes (2008 — 2012) Bolt pattern (PCD): 5 × 114.3 Center Bore (CB): 60.1 Thread size (THD): 12 × 1.5 Diameter: 18 — 19 Width: 245 — 245 Aspect ratio: 35 — 40 Smallest — Largest tire size: 245/40R18 — 245/35R19 Rims sizes (2008 — 2012) Diameter: 18 — 19 Width: 8 — 8.5 Offset: 41 — 45 Lifted from; https://sizewheeltire.com/lexus-gs-450-h-wheel-and-tire-sizes/ The one drawback with OEM wheels is that they tend to be tucked into the wheel arch rather than flush with the panel. A flusher fit will give you a more dished wheel if you don't increase the offset. There's a long wheel thread over on Club Lexus that you might find interesting.
  23. Hi Mark, I'm glad to hear that Dave at Lex-TekAutos 'did you proud', he's helped me and others around here. Which is a timely reminder for me, as I've some work lined up for him... Cheers, Lee
  24. Hi Husein, welcome to the forum. That doesn't sound right, even if you are in normal mode..mine doesn't lag. Is it also slow to start accelerating in the Sport and/or Power modes? You mention a transmission flush, do you know what fluid was used? Cheers, Lee
