  1. Sounds like it could be an issue with one of the heater servo motors. If it's under warranty then have the dealer take a look 'cos fixing them can be a right fiddly job. Good luck and let us know how you get on.
  2. @rayaans, I like both of those. Did anyone see this recent vid of an old car? Impressive...although slightly off thread (sorry).
  3. My older GS has it on all 4 doors.
  4. Does it really need new calipers? Or are the slider pins just dried out? In which case, it's a cheap fix The 'new calipers' gag seems to be a regular revenue stream for dealers. Not that you'll care much if the calipers are covered under the warranty.
  5. Ah I remember that review, it's a feature of eCVT quietly doing the gear work while the engine sits at max rpm when under full throttle. So you are commenting on the engine at full chat rather than the gearbox whining, right? 5th Gear were on an airfield test as I recall, an airfield with loooooong straights and their right foot planted to the floor. On the road I am not at full throttle for more than a few seconds, so it's a none issue in 'real' life. I'm not sure how this 'feature' applies to other eCVT cars tho, maybe those with lesser power outputs are at full throttle for longer? Which i can imagine would get annoying. Mind you the lack of gear changes is a fast way to punch yourself down the road you know Me thinks you need to take the tiller of a car you're interested in and decide for yourself. It's good to get some info up front tho, so that you're prepared. The full electric question is one I ask before I'd driven a Hybrid before. This implementation isn't about looooong EV drives, instead it's there to assist and help under acceleration, around town, in traffic, etc and I find it works pretty well. The economy will not be as good as a dirty, complex and potentially unreliable and more expensive to fix diseasel tho. It'll be acceptable and much more refined tho, so take you pick.
  6. Has anyone sourced a supplier for a PCV valve that isn't stateside? Had a devil of a time this avo trying to find any info. Would appreciate any info from someone who's been there, done that...
  7. So you didn't check all the fuses? Glad to hear that the sparky sorted it for you tho.
  8. Good, I presume all the connections were solid?
  9. Just a thought as it's a relatively new battery but maybe the battery connection(s) aren't seated properly?
  10. What rev needle? It's well beyond when the clutch engages to go into 'overdrive', circa 65mph/104kph. Maybe the driver lifted off? - although I don't see him closing on any vehicles to cause him to lift.
  11. Whilst trying out some scaffold boards under my jack/stands at the weekend (gravel drive) I decided to clean up the OSR arch/suspension before slapping on a good coat of rust converter. I applied some to the tired rear disk bells earlier this year, didn't coat them with anything else and they've stayed nicely protected. I hope to get all of the undercarriage cleaned, treated and under sealed before too long. Anyhoo whilst I was rummaging around the OSR tail pipe I found that a heat shield fixing had corroded through. I managed to remove the nut and add a penny washer back only to find a second fixing had also failed but in a more awkward position on top of the rear box. This nut wouldn't budge but still had enough thread for me to add a spacer and washer which nipped up the heat shield properly. A bonus of this find/fix is that the rattle I thought was the rear parcel shelf/boot has now gone
  12. Wow, did you drive through a field?
  13. I doubt it as the switches/handles would be on the wrong side of the seats.
  14. Cripes that's a fair 'pile up', were 3 or more cars involved? Oh and welcome to the forum and sorry that you've been a in a scrape, hopefully the damage looks worse that the actual repairs.
  15. Not impressed, especially at the first roundabout with other vehicles in close proximity. Who's your insurance company? I'm sure they'll be interested to see this footage. Not to mention the police.
  16. @C Andrew Green ah yes, I still occasionally drive a few feet with the weedy foot brake applied #duh Auto's make you feel soooo lazy! When at lights/in traffic, I tend to leave my steed in D so that the Hybrid doohicky can do it's thing.
  17. Shouldn't trackers be hidden away so that any thieves will need time to disable it. If you fit it somewhere easily accessible/obvious to override then it defeats it's purpose. Didn't the kit come with instructions/suggestions of how/where to fit it? I'd look at hooking the positive into some fused permanent live (ciggy lighter maybe) and tuck the gizmo away under the center console. The earth can be ground to the chassis wherever you choose to hook it up. Good luck and let us know how you get on.
  18. I also struggle with the night time illumination although I haven't investigated it much yet, but will longer evenings it'll be more of an issue so I'll be keen to hear what folks say.
  19. @65mike, I'm glad that you like your new-to-you IS...do you have any pic's to share with us? Creaks are annoying but can be sorted with a few hours fiddlin, check online for numerous guides. Yeah the auto and handbrake do take some getting used to, I had similar issues after only driving 'stick' before. I'm sure that you'll soon adjust. Meanwhile enjoy your silky v6.
  20. It sounds like the oil is taking a few seconds to circulate to the top of the engine when cold. Does it also occur when then engine is warm and restarted? Do you know what grade of oil are you using? Are you using an OEM oil filter? Has it been serviced regularly? If your car has VVTI then maybe the cam filters could do with a clean?
  21. Some folks have been known to remove the sensors from the wheels and fit them into a pressurised box, tucked away somewhere in the boot. But if you don't have TPMS button on the underside of both front footwell panels, then presumably your car didn't come with TPMS. FYI: TPMS button locations on my GS are like this (except mines right hand drive); Reference, from an ES.
  22. Hi Roger, welcome to the forum. Well done ordering an RC, when it is scheduled to arrive? What colour/spec did you choose? Cheers, Lee
  23. The port may have a cover that's disguising it. Mine had a black sleeve/cap that slid off.
  24. @mike m, well done being proactive and looking into fixing the rattles/squeaks. Chafing can be very annoying... Those V clips are a pain, had some ping around my head when I was under the dash. @rich1068, good reminder of lexus.7zap.com - it's a great resource, that shows alternative suppliers and part#s
