Interior door handle fault
Farqui replied to Douf's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
I suspect a cable has popped off the back of the handle. If you could remove the door card (there must be a guide online somewhere) then you could check and pop it back on (hopefully). If you are concerned about cost, then get a reputable local indi to look into it for you. Good luck and let us know how you get on. update: found this pictorial guide for an LS that should be a good start for yours (it looks very similar to other cars I've worked on) https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-3rd-gen-2001-2006/575041-diy-door-inner-handle-lock-cable-repair-2001-ls430.html -
My First Ever Lexus
Farqui replied to RevPhilip's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
Looks great, thanks for sharing the pics. Bet you've had a big grin during every mile. Crumbs 6ft 7"...I can picture anyone getting in after and thinking they're sat in the back seat! -
Hi Andrew, the Accord is a nice motor hopefully the Lexus serves you well. I sold my Civic partly because moddin' was taking so much time/money. I haven't looked back since I moved here. Let's see a pic of your IS. Cheers, Lee

@OldTrout / John, my GS is quiet too although the rubber isn't anything special. I wonder if the OP has some noisy make of tyre or maybe they are just worn ? You also reminded me about the poor boot lighting, which I helped with a brighter LED. I have a spare boot light coming and plan to wire that to the other side of the boot, as I often have something in the way that blocks the light #duh Good call about the reversing lights, I may well LED mine as we don't have much street lighting here #inthesticks

@WSandME / Sandro, that's an interesting comparison between the LS and GS and you'd expect a drop in comfort/etc between this spec of cars of comparable age but maybe not as much as you say from your older LS. Maybe this goes to prove how much Lexus invested in those early flagship cars. Thinking back to when I first got my GS, I thought the steering was somewhat vague when cruising...like it needs constant nudges. I have meant to get tracking done and maybe dial in a tad more front toe? I find steering is fine during the turns though. I gave up trying to get my phone linked or transfer contacts and just punched in a few essential numbers into the speed dial which has been fine for me since. I upgraded my satnav and postcode searches are still truncated Phone nav's are so good these days that we predominantly use this for 'new' destinations and then pin them into the cars satnav for later use under favourites. I find that burying the HVAC controls in the touch screen is my biggest annoyance. Ah the boot, yes this can be annoying however we have easily been able to get a couple of suitcases in the boot for short trips away. We even managed a couple of larger/collapsible cases for our summer vacation on the continent, although we did over spill onto the back seats...which is fine for just the two of us. MrsF always over packs too #sigh Like you we knew the boot was small and I've since purchased a roof rack should we need it but we haven't used it yet. Running on battery alone can be tricky, especially now that the ambient temps have dropped. If you keep the heater down to low 20's C with the vehicle warmed up then you should still get to waft along on battery in NORMAL mode. It should stay on battery downhill and on the level but inclines can often engage the v6. If you are running around in PWR and/or SPORT modes then the engine will kick in as soon as you touch the throttle, which is fair enough. Around town the economy is compromised in stop/start traffic as the car is heavy but keep it rolling/slow traffic and the economy is much better. On a long run I can easily get into the 40's and overall I'm averaging 35mpg. To give an idea of your Hybrid set-up, has your car had a Hybrid health check recently? Haha, the lack of a burble is a draw back but then you knew a v6 wouldn't be able to compete here

@SpeedyGee, thanks. Alas no, other than wash it...occasionally. Decorating is almost finished for a while tho, thankfully. Since my brakes passed the MOT I'll park that upgrade. The wife's V-dub is in more need of some TLC next.

Welcome to the forum. What year car are you interested in? Have you test driven any? If you have any questions, then fire away...

The Best MPG isn't stored until you hit Reset, which then stores the Current MPG average as Best and clears Current. Reset All, clears both these settings and the tracked graph. At least that's how I think it works, as I don't often twiddle with them. Do you know that the central display also records the average mpg since filling up.

RC 300H review Part Two
Farqui replied to dutchie01's topic in Lexus RC Owners Club / RC 200t / RC 300h Club
Agreed, a level headed review. Does anyone know what a 'tree series' is? -
Your link didn't work, do you mean this Ash Burl wood one at £134? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-OEM-Lexus-CT200H-Dashboard-Inlay-Ash-Burl-Wood-2010-Onwards-0817276840-/252511232007

Yup, it's a 12v smart charger aimed at keeping your smaller battery topped up. http://www.jlaforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=216082267 Can you check in the boot NSL, behind the panel, if this charger has a connection to the 12v 'boot' battery?

Your batteries loosing charge sounds worrying. I mostly work from home and my GS can stay parked up all week before turning a wheel. Touch wood it's never given any bother so I'd say that you have an underlying issue somewhere as my traction battery holds a good charge when not in use. The low mileage of the vehicle may also have contributed to low use issues, poor battery performance, etc. When you go on a long trip, does the traction battery show/hold more charge? The hybrid system will cause the petrol motor to kick in when the traction battery gets low, so that sounds okay on yours. You can't drive for long on the traction battery either, as the GS 450H is more performance orientated. Have you done any research on the charger in the boot? At first glance I'd say it was to charge the smaller 12v CPU boot up battery. Does the vehicle have any aftermarket radio, amp or other system that might drain the 12v battery? Are you anywhere near Northants to get the car checked over by Richard or Hybrid Battery Solutions? (I'm on my mobile and Tapatalk doesn't show your location).

eBay has some bamboo trims listed but they're stateside. It seems that a few screws and clips are how it's secured. Take a look here; https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F112349278449 Do you want to replace the bamboo with something else?

If lines for your specific model then can find the dimensions to then source from a different model? A good brake supplier might be able to look into this for you. I've fitted braided lines to a couple of cars and barely felt any improvement. Long term it doesn't seem that they are a good option for a daily either, take a look at this;

Good to know that this improves the screen as mine is also peppered with small marks. Hopefully they'll polish out as yours have. Thanks for the info, will go look for a some of that 'stuff'...
