  1. Same here on my GS, I can't get any of the web combinations to work
  2. Well done on the MOT and WOW what a new/old ride, it looks stunning
  3. Les, what problems? - caliper sliders are very simple to maintain. The slider issue isn't limited to Lexus either as many vehicles from other manufacturers use calipers of a similar design. No denying that dealerships are out for your money tho, they have to make a living and all those chocolate biccies cost you know
  4. Because a dealer service does not include a clean/re-grease of the brake caliper sliders. It seems that dealers would rather let you have an issue and then charge the customer and/or Lexus for the parts/work to replace the calipers. Glad that you're all sorted under warranty tho. Once out of warranty, ensure you get the caliper sliders re-greased annually - it's not a big job. Oh and did you ask the dealer this question?
  5. You'll see that the OP mentioned a VW aux heater and a Toyo block heater is a similar device. Warming the block and coolant will help reduce even prevent any manual screen deicing. I've used them in Sweden and found they're great.
  6. @rich1068, crumbs I see there are some really smokey vid's of the VW aux heater in action. Classy.
  7. It's as awkward to find as the TPMS switches!
  8. Mine has a black cover which made it hard to find.
  9. Re: an auxiliary heater - don't most/all Toyota engines come with a block heater slot? You then buy a block heater, slot it into the block (no fiddlin' with coolant) and then wire it in to an external mains powered socket. On a timer if you're really slick. The other option is to fit an inline coolant heater into the lower radiator hose which means draining most of the coolant, refilling and bleeding. I'm not sure how effective a block heater is vs an coolant heater tho. For the few really cold mornings we get in Blighty I'm not convinced it's worth the hassle, although I get very tempted each year...
  10. Hi Lucky, from the spray pattern I suspect it's grease/lube that was applied during a service. My door hinges, bonnet catch, etc were all purple after my last service. Is the residue oily?
  11. If your sensor is like this then you should be able to get a spanner on the back to hold the shaft
  12. Oh dear, can you get behind the arm to lock the shift with some long nose pliers AND then try to gently tighten the nut? So the arm didn't move before you removed the nut?
  13. See if you can get someone to weld it up for you. Lexus even offered to do it.
  14. Welcome to the forum. Could be old brake fluid, when was it last changed? Does it look clear or cloudy? Sent from my LG-H850 using Tapatalk
  15. Well found Sent from my LG-H850 using Tapatalk
  16. I thought the same thing, yet they come in non SUV sizes. I know as pah fitted some to his Skoda last week. He seems to rate them already. They were flippin' cheap too.
  17. Haha, I did wonder what would happen if the wipers didn't have this feature! I dont need much pressure to get mine to flip flop but other online comments find theirs stiff #ahem
  18. If your car has the feature then grab the passenger wiper at the lower arm and push down/pull up in the same plane as the windscreen. Both wipers should then snap into the new position and sit lower/higher on the lower portion of the screen. Good question Alan @Ala Larj, I'd presumed that you set the wipers higher in winter, leave them there until the warmer weather and that the wipers would still operate as normal. But maybe this is just a park/service feature and not for daily use? I've searched and read the manual but it's not clear if you can use the wipers in the higher position. Does anyone know if the wipers still work in the higher winter position without over extending/hitting the A pillar?
  19. Yes, that's how I understand they operate. Set them up in winter (or when changing the blades) and down in summer. I neglected to set mine up recently and after a couple of days snow/thaw/freeze, repeat the blades were locked solid in ice. Will be popping them into the up position in a few mins, lest I forget.
  20. Exhausts can blow/split at the rear Y piece, which should be visible looking under the rear bumper. Have seen that rear mufflers can be holed too, as mine was. The car was still quiet and passed its MOT with these faults #gofigure
  21. Hey there and welcome to the forum. So you've had Lexus for years and only just signed up here, shame on you ;) What Lexus did you own before, spill the beans...
  22. I would think it unlikely as they are usually at different 'ends' of the engine, the cambelt is at the front and the starter at the rear. After a few mins digging it seems that the starter is nestled in the v of the engine and it's removal might also need a coolant 'bridge' removing, according to this thread; https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-1st-and-2nd-gen-1990-2000/194735-ls400-starter-replacement-a-story-by-bdr-4.html#post5240463 The cam belt is at the front; https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-1st-and-2nd-gen-1990-2000/636730-timing-belt-help-cam-marks.html#post7256554
