  1. Hi Michele, minimum pad thickness is typically 3mm across the trade but even if you're getting close to this then I'd get them replaced as pads often wear unevenly. Pad wear can be uneven across a single pad or between the inner and outer pads, so check all 4 pads to be sure. A minimum brake disk thickness is usually noted per vehicle, is this what you meant to ask?
  2. Kinda good news then, 1 step forward and 1 step backwards by the sound of it tho. Tough call as repairing the damaged wheel may result in it being a slightly different colour to the others, depending on how well they can match to the repair. I can see comparing side by side will highlight any differences but how about when fitted to each corner?
  3. After fitting the tow bar the exhaust occasionally knocked (very occasionally) so I renewed all 6 hangers. The two bigger hangers sit in the middle of the car with four smaller ones at the rear. Here are the old rubbers flanked with their new counterparts; SealeyTools part numbers EX01 and EX02 are a fair bit firmer than the tired old OEM items and worked a treat with no more knocking. Was quick and easy to swap them over too, once the rear was jacked up. Since fitting I've covered over 1k miles with approx half of that fully loaded with 4 adults / luggage in the boot and on the Bak-Rak. Reminder: the tow bar bolts in between the rear zoorst hanger brackets and the boot chassis rails. The slightly lowered exhaust coupled with the narrower tow bar mounting plates/bolts caused the knock.
  4. With the apparent EV revolution looming the motor industry is rethinking is long term strategies, look how Ford have reacted. I was surprised at the mention of can'g the IS but this suggests otherwise; https://lexusenthusiast.com/2018/06/13/is-the-future-of-the-lexus-is-lexus-gs-in-doubt/
  5. Chris @cpk, the VVT oil feeds to the heads have filters in them (1 per bank of the v6) and these may have become clogged over time. I spoke to a Lexus tech recently who said that provided regular oil changes had occurred then the filters were unlikely to have clogged up. They're both easily accessible and I may well check mine as some point. Or as John mentions, the oil may have been changed during the last service which has affected the lubed parts and/or drain back rate.
  6. My mk3 drivers headrest moves up/down with the seat forward/backwards movements. There's an almost hidden button on top of the seat to adjust the headrest. I've not found the headrest front/back position to be an issue but maybe I slouch too much, or I's jus' chillin'
  7. Yes...Parkers lists the IS250 as Euro4, ref; https://www.parkers.co.uk/lexus/is/saloon-2005/250-4d/specs/ Presuming you live in the ULEZ, can't residents apply for a 100% rebate?
  8. Update: Dave @ Lex-Tex Auto's couldn't see anything obviously wrong with the rear springs/etc.
  9. Hey Andrew, no not yet and it did drive a little light at the front with 4 adults and bags of luggage on the rack again recently. It's not bottomed out so it's not an urgent fix but I do want to fix it. Strut spacers have arrived though While the towers are out I intend to check the damper and spring isolators to see if they need replacing. To check the springs for wear/compression I'd need to remove them, which I don't intend to do just yet. Is yours riding okay?
  10. Brilliant well found Stuart this definitely deserves a pic! 11. The rear coverage is surprisingly good. By not having the rear camera mounted near the back of the vehicle, you're just loosing a bit of wide angle coverage. The install cost was a bargain
  12. My jaw dropped to the floor when I clocked this beauty earlier today on downtown Bruges. What a stunner [emoji108] Nice licence plate too [emoji106]
  13. Welcome to the forum. I have the older mk3 GS450H and on a motorway run I can match your BMW mpg. So a mk4 should see an even better return. I'm not sure about the latest model but the older model had dampers that tend to leak. Exhausts can blow at the rear Y pipe but on older models, so may not be applicable to mk4's. The rear calipers are only used sparingly so calipers can sieze. Have you seen/driven any?
  14. Andrew @C Andrew Green that magnetic USB charge thingy-whatsit looks very handy, will have to take a look at getting one (or two) myself.
  15. Looks very nice, so well done. Does it have tinted rear windows? A face lift SE-L spec? Any issues - is the exhaust Y pipe holding up okay? When I got mine the OEM exhaust Y pipe and OS rear box were shot, it was still VERY quiet though!
  16. Crumbs that car looks spotless, better than new.
  17. The 5th injector? I seem to recall it being discussed before...
  18. Enjoy Steve, I'm green with envy. Pic's? - are you kiddin', of course we want to see pic's.
  19. Well found that man, low mileage for the year Is it all tickety-boo or does it need any work?
  20. Richard @rich1068 have you tried unwinding the rubber bump stops at each front corner? If the bonnet closes without needing a hefty slam, then the catch is in a good position.
  21. Do you have any diesel specialists nearby? They'll be much more knowledgeable and have many more unique tools than a dealer/garage.
