  1. Have you tried looking for the part# on https://7zap.com/en/ ?
  2. Rear shock towers removed yesterday Lexus claimed all 4 shock were leaking well over a year ago, hoho. The tail of the springs have some corrosion/wear, I've seen worse which hasn't affected the ride. The OSR damper support looks odd, like it's been welded. Otherwise the damper assemblies look the same side to side, I'll try and check if the lower arms are the same later. The parts have been treated and will be painted during the day.
  3. Well done working through that and for providing online reference for other folks Oh and it's a great write up too!
  4. Great pic's, your IS-F ain't too shoddy either
  5. They aren't that awkward to check provided you can get underneath and the parts aren't expensive. I was surprised how sturdy those hangers were, get yours measured up and compare. Let us know how you get on.
  6. By wheel brake dust covers I presume that you mean the brake backing plates? As I understand the test, fronts backing plates aren't part of the test as no brake components hang off it. If they are removed then the brakes still work. Rear backing plates where drum/shoe set-ups are in use, are part of the test and need to be in servicable order.
  7. Take a look at the exhaust hangers and get some longer/stiffer units to give you more clearance and less movement. I recently used EX01/4's on my GS from here; https://www.workshopping.co.uk/category/exhaust-mountings/2431/
  8. Phwaaar what a sound and very impressive output on stock internals/gearbox. As others say, it looks the suspension now needs some work. Or maybe the tyres were going off? Or that smokey 911 was dropping oil....
  9. Jeepers, what an experience and whilst on holiday too :( Those hail stones are whoppers!
  10. Welcome to the forum. Have you any good stories to tell about owning several GS's?
  11. Nice one and well done getting it sorted yourself [emoji106]
  12. Hey Peter @NemesisUK, those are the ones that inspired me to look into this - securing via the headrest is a neat trick. I sourced mine on the cheap tho
  13. M12 x 1.5mm? https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/lexus,2008,is250,2.5l+v6,1441482,wheel,lug+stud,7680 Or use a spacer of some kind and a wheel nut to pull the stud back into the hub.
  14. Doh, did you use a torque wrench? Although the stud could well have been damaged by a garage/tyre shop using a windy gun. The studs are usually splined into the hub and can be driven out and back in with a hammer/press. You may have to turn the hub to a specific point to allow the stud clearance to drop out the back. https://lexus.7zap.com/en/eu/lexus+is/242520/gse20r-aetlhw/2/4303/432069e/#43501D Part# 90942-02070 - double check that the part number is correct for your vehicle. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WHEEL-BOLT-LUG-NUT-FOR-LEXUS-IS200-1999-2005-OEM-90942-02070-/122528940786 Good luck getting it sorted and let us know how you get on.
  15. In this unusually sunny weather we've found the leather seats can get a bit toasty. If we're leaving the car in the open for any length of time then I pop in a windscreen reflector which really helps keep the cabin temps down. But for short trips I thought I'd try covering the seats and for a bit of fun I went with a JAP theme A couple of 5' x 3' flags zip tied across the eyelets work a treat and stop the leather burning ones delicate skin The 3' eyelets allow them to be slid on/off the headrest or pushed out of the way around to the backrest, like capes! Good eh?
  16. I had the same thing and put it down to the Wurth GP which I cleaned off and it's not marked up since.
  17. @Vlad, if you go to the Gold Members drop down, Gold Member Discounts and then take the Dealer Discounts option - there you'll see all applicable dealers (41) and their discounts URL if needed; https://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/goldmembership.html/dealer-discounts/
  18. Thanks all, having front calipers that match appeases my OCD The logo's were cheapies from eBay and set the fronts off nicely. Which reminds me, I noticed that my NSR caliper has some movement and didn't I read that it could be the sliders and/or bushing could have worn? Any advice chaps?
  19. After fitting new disks/pads I decided the calipers needed some TLC and with such good weather recently it seemed like a good time to get it ticked off the to-do list. All calipers were de-greased, quickly rubbed over with abrasive pads, given a final wipe down before paint. They were then all given several light coats of etch primer, base coat and clear coat, high temperature paint. I think they came out pretty well. This was the first time I'd painted calipers on a vehicle and the bin liner trick really does help to minimise masking. For reference the calipers before painting can be seen a bit further up this thread;
  20. According to this the majority of the affected vehicles are stateside https://carbuzz.com/news/over-120-000-lexus-cars-could-be-leaking-fuel-in-the-engine-bay
  21. I'm now beginning to wonder if my NSR spring is cracked as you can hear it makes 'that' faint noise when riding the bumps. You can just hear something odd with the front passenger window down. The NSR does sit slightly lower than the OSR too. When I fit these spacers I will definitely be closely inspecting the springs/etc, I'll dismantle both towers to be sure and measure each side.
  22. Ah yes, I clocked that a few days ago and wondered why they'd dropped in a yank LS motor. Looks a bit tight...
  23. I'm not sure at this point but it would be interesting to know how these 2 recalls differ. Your comment about the number of recalls got me curious and it seems the GS450H isn't one of the high models recalled by Lexus. At a count of 7 it's the same as the IS-F with the RX300 having the highest at 35 Check the second set of stats here; https://www.vindecoderz.com/EN/Lexus/problems-recalls-complaints, which list each model and also summarises the model totals. It's a shame the data stops at 2015 though. On the base of that data I'd buy a RX450H. The figures are what they are and I'm not looking to start an arm chair campaign I was just interested to see how the Lexus recalls stacked up.
