  1. Techstream ensures your brake fluid is flushed correctly and working at 100%. When was your brake fluid last changed?
  2. Hi Richard, I also experienced this transition when I first picked up my GS and adapted to it for a short while. But after I renewed disks/pads, flushed the brake fluid via Techstream I can barely feel the transition anymore. So how old/how many miles have your disks/pads covered and has your brake fluid been flushed in the last couple of years?
  3. Another positive of regular brake stompin' is to help free your slider pins.
  4. That's definitely worth a try. I have to admit that it feels counter intuitive to the generally relaxed nature of the car. I mostly tend to coast and roll with mine.
  5. Before you change disks/pads you really need to ensure you regularly brake hard to keep the disks clean. Mine had this after purchase but the disks were very corroded. I renewed the disks/pads and all was smooth for a few miles. Then the pulsing started again and I wondered about warped disks. Until my MOT, after which all was smooth again. The brake test cleared up the pulsing :) Sitting at junctions with the brakes applied seems to leave friction material on parts of the disks that then causes pulsing when braking. Mostly regen braking under normal driving means that the pads don't clean up the disks sufficiently and will need a few good hard stops to clear the build up. Slamming on the brakes periodically keeps the pulsing in check. It's also easier and cheaper than fitting new disks every few miles ;)
  6. Goof point, my mpg stat's are actual tank to tank calculations and not estimates from the onboard computer.
  7. Your good lady clearly has excellent taste. That's a fine looking RX, enjoy.
  8. Nice work there fella, you're making good progress. I recently sourced some rear control arms for my GS from Rockauto and was also pleasantly surprised to find old skool grease ports [emoji106] As you found, they can ship from the US to the UK as quickly as my local stealer can source parts. Amazing and a few extra £'s on shipping isn't as painful when the parts are cheaper.
  9. As mentioned, stick with OEM style rotors for a daily driver. Drilled disks can crack and slotted often generate a grim and uneccessary vibration/noise when braking hard from high speed. Get coated disks though, to prevent the 'hat' rusting overnight and looking like it needs replacing again. Alternatively paint the unswept areas of the disks.
  10. Excellent news Adam, well done...looks really smart (both inside and out). Enjoy. Oh and I enjoyed your Bimmer comments.
  11. Coat the tyres, rims and valves in soapy water and check closely for bubbles. Will be easier with wheels off the car but you can easily do the outer rim and valves with the wheels on the car.
  12. Yes i've used RockAuto several times before and 3 days shipping was as quick as a local stealer supplied parts 😉 Glad to hear that you found a local supplier tho.
  13. At least you know now what the issues are and where to focus your attention. For the coils, have you checked on RockAuto.com? To be certain I usually double check the part numbers on the likes of 7Zap.
  14. Part's 3 & 4 are now available; Once a build is complete then he usually goes over the total cost of the repairs 😉
  15. Hi Nick, that's a great looking GS you've found yourself and what an Xmas present Enjoy.
  16. Hi Mark, welcome to the forum and it's good to hear that you are considering one of the best 'sleeper' that is rarely remembered. I get 40+ mpg on a steady run and have averaged 35mpg over 2 years. Mine is 58 plate MK3 and the boot isn't any bigger than a slightly earlier pre-face lift. As already mentioned the boot is small which pretty much works for me and the mrs, I have roof bars and a rear box if we're travelling more than 2 up, although I've not needed to use both at once. If boot size is important then I believe the MK4's get a bigger boot but I haven't seen one in person to compare, the later cars also much more expensive. I have an AUX-in phone jack in my center arm rest but I rarely use it. I don't have any cassette tapes, so I've never used that. The ML speakers/etc great tho As you've already found, the Hybrid batteries can be repaired cost effectively, there's also been a few reports of a pump failure that can be fixed cheaply rather than buying a new replacement. I've grown to really enjoy the CVT gearbox and the drive train gives one mighty surge when needed, I've never felt it's been short on power! Have you driven one yet? Good luck in your hunt and do keep us updated on your progress.
  17. Be careful using dash cams abroad as not all countries allow them. https://www.which.co.uk/news/2018/08/using-your-dash-cam-abroad-what-you-need-to-know-about-driving-in-europe/
  18. Excellent news Kev, well done persevering and I'm glad you now have a functional matrix again. Your success will spur me on to flush mine and use the fluid I bought earlier this year.
  19. Your rear dampers are nothing soooo special that only a dealer needs to work on. My local dealer wanted me to pay for new dampers but they are completely fine with none of the claimed oil leaks. So get a second opinion.
  20. Grinspeed are nearby in Leyland and altho they aren't a dedicated Lexus indi they mainly deal with JAP cars. They are x motorsport chaps, do a great job and will not fleece you [emoji106] Definitely worth a call [emoji6]
  21. My memory is failing me, a quick internet scan shows that garage parking is typically quoted at a higher price. Some articles even suggest parking a few streets away and changing your parked address to get a cheaper price. Do folks actually do this?
  22. Ouch, that's painful pal. I've heard that off road parking can bump up prices [emoji853] but thought it was just an odd wives tale.
  23. Well done sorting that one out, hopefully no damage done. Next term I'd see the little blighter walking!
  24. This episode was okay, as you say packed with plenty of info/etc. Whereas some of the others in the series have had me in tucks.
