A connoisseur, I see :) Fully agree it makes washing so much easier afterwards. I had my 911 professionally done when it was getting an engine issue sorted at a specialist, the bodywork was like glass afterwards. Two years later and appreciate it's garaged, it doesn't need much more than warm water to clean the bodywork.

I think it's called 'detailing' these days .... Whilst the Mrs and the 3yr old are away, i got a window of opportunity to finally give the Lex a proper clean. This won't be a common occurrence ( a wash at most every other weekend) but i felt the bodywork was quite gritty so got to work. I used to be quite into 'detailing' but time is of the essence these days, however i still have a variety of magic potions and cloths in the garage. 1) Washed with Bilt Hamber Autowash 2) Rinsed 3) Smooth over with a clay-mitt (alternative to clay bar) 4) Rinsed 5) Two coats of the quaintly named "Soft 99 Fusso Coat Dark" Wax - http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/accessories-tyres/63776/best-car-wax-and-car-polish-2017. I also have the BH Wax that won this test, however the Soft 99 is better at filling tiny scratches in the paint. 6) Final buff with a finishing cloth http://www.nipponshine.com/shop/accessories/trizex-premium-cloth/ Came out pretty well, however it really does need a machine polish. With the amount of dings across most panels, probably something I'll undertake when selling it (eventually) Proof is in the pudding, the beads of rain showing its working as expected - may do it again next year :)

Unusual - i've seen it more BMW more frequently, usually when they've been servicing the car since new.

The ad doesn't mention if it's been changed before, so could have been on 2nd or 3rd belt.

Have also been using the e-brake more and it definitely has improved with usage. I could drive off with it applied previously, no longer the case now.

"a foot operated parking/handbrake" guess you'll be using 'e-brake' from now on :) ..... Does anyone know if the e-brake will become more effective if I start using it more frequently? Or will some adjustment/repair be needed first

Far too busy at work at present, and with mot due on Sunday i have not had a chance to visit earlier for a pre-test check up. Fearing the worst due to a weak e-brake and exhaust leak in the usual spot, I was pleasantly surprised to see it pass, with e-brake efficiency at 24% (16% min) and a "minor exhaust leak". The previous advisories re rusty suspension components also mentioned again, unsurprisingly. (3yrs running). Great service from the guys at Diamond Vehicles in Park Royal, west London near where I work (http://www.diamondvehicles.net) , a very unassuming non specialist garage who I picked based purely on location and the reviews on good garage scheme. I was so happy, and with the garage happy to fit customer supplied parts I've just ordered a new Denso aircon compressor from Rockauto for £199 together with a refurb denso alternator for £120 - both plus shipping £35 and duty. Don't actually need an alternator, it just seemed cheap!

Can you tap a torx bit into there?

Is there any of the bolt head to grab? Or are they recessed? I've used Irwin bolt extractors before, big money savers in some situations. They work on round heads too.

I have a whine on my 98 car - it's the aircon compressor, easily tested.

There are no claims of a higher octane from what i've read in the link. As well as cleaning abilities, it offers an improved fuel burn, fuel stabilization however i can't see either of the latter improving a sticky throttle body - I could be wrong? I used some BG MAF cleaner and cleaned the air inlet mix path - made a subtle difference to idle and pickup, but did nothing for the hesitation.

Just back from a circa 90-100mile round trip, involving a mix of m-way and town driving, involving a fair bit of stop-start traffic as you can imagine between London and Surrey. Happy to say I didn't experience the issue once in this time. It does appear that I've overdosed on the treatments I've applied, in that I've used 20ml per 70 litres instead of the recommended 20ml per 100ml. To be on the safe side I will get an oil / filter change when I get the mot done in June (strong fuel treatment can lead to dilution of the oil, especially so in a thin /30 oil)
