  1. Thankfully those of us on this forum don't have to . we have ALL ( I'm assuming ) made sound foresight provision for our later years ....... be it in France Portugal or our blessed UK And our choices are somewhat to spend our money on Lexii 😇 Malc
  2. the " need " to have the expectation and then to buy everything on credit ( not just the home ) and happy to pay silly interest ...... and there's a proliferation of these finance options too . then when there's no job to pay for it all then, well, why not moan about it and stamp your feet and shout and 'olla till someone ( us taxpayers ) cough up even more " Benefits " to dig these individuals out from the holes they've got 'emselves into Well, now is the time hopefully when the Benefits the Govt pays out will be more focussed and given only to those in real, and I mean a REAL hardship Oh dear have I upset lots again 🤔 Malc
  3. Most Pensioners are of an age where growing up was challenging …… and those challenges “ maketh man “‘ Growing up just Post War ( me ) seeing bombing devastation and much greater hardship than we see today generally …….. AND our parents having had a much greater difficult time of life growing up during and with the aftermath of the First War …… Society then for the most part had a hugely tough time …… kids today with education actually happening with whatever qualities the System can offer with good teachers and buildings etc More than the elder generation could often experience in their time …… my time ! Ffs just stop whingeing and accept it’s as good and probably better than it’s ever historically been …… Jeez I have 3 cars and I feel so so lucky …… my grandparents often had bugger all ….. my parents too ….., eating out at a restaurant never on the Agenda ……. enough food to eat at home often a challenge too I’ve never had it so good for sure as have most here maybe I never want to get involved with stupid politics ….. it’s draining ….. and I don’t believe any of ‘em will make a useful difference without more money to spend …… you decide how that’s going to be “ got “ There’s no Magic Money Tree Malc
  4. The personal tax allowance isn’t great and ALL your excess income becomes just that …… taxable unless you / your Tax Adviser finds ways to help …. like a cash ISA say Im happy to pay some company Corporation Tax too to help fund your ( and my ) State Old Age Pensions. NHS, Armed Forces etc in the knowledge that the Benefits Regime for those in need is now thankfully being more focussed on those that really do NEED All and any shade of Govt has to somehow balance the books and decide the level of State Debt that’s sustainable going forward Those of us that can afford a Lexus or two are blessed, either thru our own endeavour or good fortune ….. I don’t regret making my personal wealth and continuing …… neither do I not want to help others in Society that are much less fortunate …… brainpower is the usual difference tween me, us and them ……. Don't whinge and don’t think any change of political nuance will make one ounce of difference going forward financially There’s global and European wars going on right now and I want my family to grow and survive in a free society ……. and that’s gonna cost believe it or not Malc
  5. At an age where a competent trusted indy can take over servicing and maintenance is good imho Cambelts tho ........ on my very first J reg Ls400 years back I had the first cambelt change at 123k miles . a year after my ownership A second Ls400 I bought with 7k original miles ( written off in 2011 ) and the cambelt change had been done at the 10 year interval by the first owner at 3600 miles My 4th 1991 ( just bought ) Ls400 at nigh on 100 k miles approaching and I don't think the cambelt has been changed .. but it's the non-interference engine whatever Paying Main Stealer prices for anything is a bit daft if you don't have to Malc
  6. Socially this malevolence has occurred forever from time to time and place to place …… even in blissfully quiet parts of Kent where I live …… complaining to the parents often resulted in a thrashing ……. Just as their parents gave to them ……. and onwards it goes eh ! what’s the answer one asks …… HeadMaster at my school caning boys never did us any harm ……. it seems … A discussion for another time eh ! Back to cars now and a blissful Ls600 not being in temptations way for nutters attention 👍 Malc
  7. I have 2 x Ls400s that are recommended for E5 fuel: I have noted over these many past months that Sainsbury whilst only offering E5 at 97 octane ALSO ALWAYS charges a 10p / ltr premium over their E10 NOW Tesco offer their E5 Momentum at 99 octane and always just 7p / ltr uplift in price If I find Shell V Power then I understand that E5 has no ethanol ( maybe ) I also have my 2006 Honda Legend on E10 fuel only Malc
  8. sadly that pertains to almost any knowledgeable subject Malc
  9. Big Lexii and even not so big ones will make you a tad conspicuous ……. there’s so few around ….. any and everywhere AND EVEN THE BOOTIFUL Sc430 is a rare sight to see I quite admire owners that have chucked buckets of money into a Lexus …… or indeed any new car just knowing or ignoring their likely real time depreciation 😂 Buy the car you wish for but don’t turn it into that yoke around your neck …… be sensible but above all ENJOY 😄 Malc
  10. you've bought an as new originally £110k car and even being a few years old now there's nothing needs upgrading to anything that some might consider even remotely " tacky " Contentment is often blissful ! Malc
  11. Gearbox oil changes ….. there’s other threads here too somewhere I think ! remembering thoughts are a partial only change …… I had mine 95 Ls400 done about 80k miles ago and it’s still as smooth as silk at 247500 miles …… but it was before too ! My 91 Ls400 I’m thinking to do the same partial change at its now just 100k miles over 32 years …… it’s gearchanging feels a little “ grabbing” occasionally ….. I’ve had this car for about 4 months Malc
  12. Try a Ls400 …… now invincible for those remaining, and might last forever with zero modern electronic wizadry to bankrupt you 👌 Best wishes and Good Luck Malc
  13. That’s 25 mpg. Wow. That’s brilliant 👍 Malc
  14. The last of the Ls400s I believe had plastic headlamps too Malc
  15. Seeing a Lexus Ls400 in any car park you’ll know it’s yours whatever the number plate 🤩 Distinctive number plates abound and relieve the mediocrity of ordinary cars and often their owners …… One of my Ls400s is. N7GNT for any aficionado of a Gin and Tonic …… personalised long before I bought her if anyone has WBT 1 then I’ll get my business to buy it for me ….. any offers ? worldbesttravel.co.uk = WBT 1 👍 Malc and as for those. “ tulips. “ Blimey you’re going back ‘undreds of years ….. even before cryptocrap 😴
  16. I’ve never had a problem with any cars opening the petrol flaps / caps Might be you’re exceptionally unlucky 😂 i suppose earlier times and cars the cap was just external and needed strong fingers whatever And I’ve been driving forever ! Malc
  17. Or just place the onus on a Lexus Main Dealer to affirm thru the Head Office maybe that Lexus have initiated the “ errors” and All Liability rests with Lexus for any potential Warranty timing/mileage/kms issues arising I would tell them that this is so serious a solicitor might have to be involved in the event of a Warranty Claim being set aside They can nip it in the bud right now by sorting it out …… in your favour of course Good luck Malc
  18. larde--da larde--da ..... semi or fully - sympathetic one asks Malc
  19. for me Wilko semi-synthetic oil was absolutely fine for about qtr million miles in my Lss' no sign of my V8 4ltr engine fatigue 😂 Malc
  20. Often it just fails with zero warning and you’re stuck waiting for the recovery truck older Ls400s with pas fluid leaking dripping onto the alternator and then one day it all just stops working ….. for me personally in the rain at night under a bridge to which I coasted on the M 20 …… a bit of a bug-er for sure Nevermind ….. the 2nd time, different car, the alternator just “ gave up “ at 200k plus miles as I drifted onto my son-in-laws driveway one dark winters night 👍 BUT in all cases zero prior warning so take care Malc
  21. Christmas is often a good time to screw the best deal from a car sales offer the vendor often NEEDS to offload a chunk of metal for cash to help out with Xmas expenses and debt If you want a specific car right now then simply go4it Malc
  22. tomorrow £45k to shift it to get some cash in for Xmas 🤑 Malc
  23. Your's is probably one of the very good reasons why people just don't use them ! Malc
  24. might the ridiculous discrepancies be simply a result of being in both miles and kms ? sort of about there maybe ! Malc
