The front Y section on my 95 Ls400 I had rebuilt a couple of years back ……. at a specialist exhaust place near me in Maidstone Kent …… £360 incl vat……!they bespoke built a new configuration from their stock parts ……. hopes it will last another 25+ years ……. the original exhaust is stainless steel and built like a tank they told me ……. apart from the mild steel front Y section that only lasted a qtr century 👍 Lexus used to sell the Y section at about £5/700 plus fitting but there aren’t any left anywhere in the country we discovered Malc

Or maybe a partial drain and refill ? Other Lexus models have been mentioned here with the drawbacks of a complete 100% change process Malc

My 95 Ls400 Cat N with Saga and still fully comp insured with them They wrote the car off end 2018’ish for a squashed rear door that was repaired at my cost The repair estimate was @£1500….. I bought the car back from them ….. a bit of a battle on the phone with several Saga people coz they wanted the car scrapped ….. I was very firm at that point ….. it was all just a few £00’s really ….. I felt they wanted an older 4ltr V8 off the road ! ….. my car owes me about £500 these days after the Cat N and Saga paid me out about £500 after xcs if I remember …… but I do have the car and Saga still insure it Fully Comprehensive ( for what that’s worth at 248k miles and Cat N ! ) I pay £448 pa fully comp insce now, this month, coming into the 2nd year of a 3yr rolling fixed price contract with 5000 miles pa limit etc etc etc They told me on the phone the other week that they now don’t insure cars after 30 years young 🥵 ……. they would NOT insure my 91 Ls400 for this reason I will then probably go with an Adrian Flux group company that insure my 91 Ls400 . But that’s a way off yet thankfully What your situation will be with Saga heaven alone knows …… this is what happened to me I would still be persevering on the replacement glass front if I could Good luck Malc

I’m not at all sure “ it’s in all of us “ tbh concerns me that so many countries are happy, at least initially, with the China Belt and Road initiative that puts them in hock forever to China and it’s regime ……. and it’s influence China is a global force for whatever it wishes to be …… it’s drawn so much Western investment in and changed the accepted global financial rules to totally bugger up this western investors, now uninvestable, now non-assets ….. Financial Paper Assets at a 1% likely valuation for non-Chinese investors ONLY China has changed all their ground rules to obliterate conventional “ ground rules “ China I don’t believe sees anything wrong in all it does and that includes disrespecting Peoples of the World including where appropriate for the China State any and all concepts of Genocide and Ethnic Cleansing ……. anywhere within its spheres of influence I might be totally wrong, I hope so but I’m not seeing it in any sort of positive happy light 🤔 Malc

I think that unless you track down the north of England guys making new glass and the Breakers around incl eBay whatever then you’re likely to get to the disappointed stage a USA breaker might be able to help but the carriage might be a tad fraught a few hours and on the phone searching might entail BUT you might get success the unconventional way ……. the alternative might simply be the insce write-off and into the crusher sadly …… the insurers won’t hesitate to make it simple for themselves Malc

That might be worth a further look 🤔 Looking at my 91 Ls400 sold by them to my previous owner at 21k miles in 2015 …… my 91 Ls400 was in storage from 2002-2012 They maybe specialise in “odd ball “ Lexus …… they took my 91 Ls in p/ex for an Ls430 all that time ago ….. pre 2015’ish Malc

Methinks almost all and any Ls400s now are well maintained and well, sort of " loved " Keeping a 25 years PLUS young car on the road must entail a certain amount of tangible endearment ............ and strangely, with the Ls400, not a huge amount of unnecessary expense compared to other marques ..........😇 Malc

Me, along with almost 100% of the world population hasn’t much of a clue as to how the China economic situation will pan out …… there’s these “ ups and downs “ and uninvestable situations ……. that become investable …….. and Emperor Xi giving sway to whichever his Advisers diktat dictates ……. 20% of global population and now with enough surplus housing to house the whole population once again ……. never in the crises of global ( and UK ) housing has such an incredible situation been extant …… Evergrande and All those totally bust housing creating businesses with unfathomable debt that’s been fuelled by, for some strange reason, lots of Western investing funds ……. into uninvestable businesses and assets …… Fact is those investments have been made and are quite likely locked in ….. China has manipulated global funding and will probably continue to do so …… possibly part of the current Game Plan ……. that we all seem to think is “ uninvestable “ BUT it actually is ……. because those investments actually ARE MADE I would encourage Black Rock to be buying some of this “ uninvestable “ asset regime at say 30% of current “ book value “ ……. I think 🤔 it’s going to pan out ok in the short, medium and possibly longer term ……. After all, Black Rock has now taken an amazing unfathomable but tiny position in Crypto that has “ stabilised “ this dopey crypto market …… not for me …… nor Warren Buffet …… unless the credibility sentiment oozing from Black Rock has groaned it’s way into his thinking ……. not for me tho’ Malc

At every annual service I specifically ask my Indy service guy to overhaul the calipers, make sure they’re properly functioning ……. and in 248k miles, 29 years, I believe I’m on “ originals” I’ve never seen a bill for replacement calipers whatever Malc
