  1. is this the HMRC figure that you're referring to by any chance ? That all those that can claim mileage for from whomsoever .............. if that's so then the HMRC figure of 45/47p per mile is it, ......... is the HMRC calculation to cover costs of all associated with the person claiming ............ for the total car costs, not just fuel . and not thereby making a profit on the payment that would otherwise then become a taxable benefit Forgive me if I've misunderstood ! 🙃 Malc
  2. I feel the insurance companies ( and finance institutions often ) hold general public over their barrel and there’s no Ombudsman or Govt Control that’s effective to protect us all against the potential greed of some ……. sure some insurers are having a bad time financially probably but others are probably doing very well indeed, too well maybe ……. that’s their Management and Board for the Shareholders ……. poor judgements often too in risk assessment …….. and it might be that some Lexus drivers are indeed poor risks …… their driving skills, easy theft cars, anti-social areas by where they live …… and more ……BUT the oft feeling by very many is that we are simply being ripped off …… and that’s a bad feeling to have and some Ombudsman / Authority whatever should be taking due notice to investigate why and suggest remedy ……. Sitting on their backsides just won’t cut it I’m afraid …… a revolutions a’coming 🥵 Malc
  3. Might be illegal contriving to con all policyholders en bloc BUT this scheme they operate seems above the law and endorsed by the Authorities sadly HOUSE and HOME INSURANCE anyone ? Mines just gone up about 25% RSA for my small 2 bed 1650’s ( maybe ) timber built ancient house that’s thankfully not Listed at this time My price searching last year put my RSA policy much much less expensive than others ……. not many interested insuring my ancient house Malc
  4. Looks exactly like mine then …… but you take better piccys of course ……. Lexus Hatfield …… how odd 😄 Malc
  5. and chatting to my nephew this morning and he's reminded me that the Lewis guy caused some little mayhem in the insce market when he got the Govt to stop motor insurers offering good deals by Law for existing loyal customers .......... zero special loyalty treatment allowed by LAW it seems Good 'ol Martyn Lewis 🫢 Malc
  6. Bought this off eBay about 4months ago for about £3.50
  7. Has it a Main Dealer name on the reverse ? Or is it just a generic single key fob ……!made in China maybe 😄 Malc
  8. When you had the repaint done, didn’t the paint shop advise on best care going forward ? I’d have thought simply washing, maybe with recommended additives whatever, might protect modern paintwork from the elements ! Just a thought 🤔 Malc
  9. Might the battery need to “ breathe “ ? Could it all overheat under that insulator jacket 🤔 I don’t ever recall a battery frame nor jacket in all my Ls400 days Malc
  10. Complex cars with complex tyres ……. gone are the days of rational simplicity it would seem …….. oh for the blessed joys of mere “ ordinary “ powerful cars with old fashioned uncomplex tyres and wheels Good luck with your next options and thoughts Malc
  11. This is what we’ve used on a concrete base and it took 2/3 guys a couple of days to erect …… if it’s of any use for you ! Good luck Malc
  12. Mark, do you have the room for a modest type of easy erect, portable’ish “ garage “ to erect ? If so I’ll find the name of the one used by my nephew for my 1932 Triumph ……… doesn’t need Planning permission whatever I’m assured Malc
  13. Inserting a moveable lockable Post or two in the ground in front of the car ? Malc
  14. update on mine today at ProTyres Sittingbourne.... . the punctured one had a nail in it but split the sidewall too when parking up ... 2 x 235/50/17 Falken tyres fitted and all-up £240 incl. AND they checked the tracking etc and all was fine they assured me .. so that's a bonus 👍 Fingers xd they'll last maybe 25k miles or more Malc
  15. Kids pop along and knock it off its perch ! Malc
  16. RAC man today popped on my spacesaver spare ……. On my Honda Legend AWD ……. Nail in front near side but both Falkens on this axle done about 23.5k miles so I’m changing the pair ……. for more Falkens ……. matching pair again mind syndrome 😄 Not worth a puncture repair …… even if they could …… I haven’t checked …… they’ve had a good trouble free life and look quite worn generally ……. Had they covered just 9.5k miles I’d have repaired if I could …….. even being AWD car Your repair must be legal and ok otherwise your professional tyre guy wouldn’t have done it …… no reason for it not to last as long as it’s matching axle mate does too …… and then you’ll replace the pair in due time I’m sure Save your £££££ all the while it’s sensible to …….. and no one with credible professional advice advises otherwise Good luck Malc
  17. Make sure it’s a china bowl from this Chinese Xi Dynasty ……. worth all your fortune in 991 years hence …….. will Waitrose still be there tho ‘ 👏 Malc
  18. Old Scrubbers Day then for you 🤣 Petrol consumption is simply irrelevant being a man of significant Means and not to be Mean spending your spondoolies ....... on yourself ............ just kid everyone else you're being very very careful with the consumption and promise not to realy exceed the speed limit when " testing " her fully ...... is the Jag really only 0 - 60 in 5.7 secs ? the Ls400 is in 5.9 secs ?? and a much heavier beast to move around surely ..... the Sc430 is what in 0 - 6- terms ? Malc I'm only a short 5'9" and shrinking over the ages and that leg comfort I just can't achieve in my Honda legend BUT never ever been a problem in any Ls400
  19. These days ……. are the salespeople actually employed by the Dealer …….. or maybe just self-employed on commission etc 🤔 ……… and sometimes too keen to seal a deal Malc
  20. No point trying to rationalise it for us mere mortals ……. China and 1.4billion population will be with us for our lifetimes I’m sure ……… all eating and growing ….. and manufacturing cheap stuff to export to the UK Its life and it won’t change much to affect you and me methinks 🤔 Malc
  21. There's a huge amount of all sorts of financial interesting stuff going on in China right now Malc
  22. Juan welcome ……. you have a 94 Ls400 ? How long have you had this car and experienced this problem ? Does the car engine actually stop and you re-start her while still rolling or do you actually get to a stationary position before re-starting ? You’re in the UK ? and the cars been serviced annually or more and current MOT showing no issues ? Has anyone tried solving this problem before ? Asking these Qs and your answers might help to solve this mystery ……. and encourage more Qs from Members with Ls400 experience Malc
  23. That seating and comfy legs positioning …….. in all these past decades and even now with my immensely comfy and powerful 3.5ltr 2006 Honda Legend …….. I just CANNOT get comfy legs position for more than 20 mins driving it Both my Ls400s and all my past Ls400s I’ve never had a problem driving for hours non-stop …… supreme leg comfort …… and all else comfy too of course I would urge you, if there’s no way you can achieve 100% leg comfort especially, for at least 2 hrs, driving the Jag ……. to part company with it, flog it, scrap it whatever ……. Your legs comfort needs to be 100% otherwise it’s a FAILURE and a lesson learnt …….. presuming the Sc430 gives you 100% comfort in all respects 🤔 Jag for the scrapper then ? 🤩 Malc
  24. BUT now back to Sam’s Ls400 eh ! id like to see it back on the road somehow, so Sam How’s your thoughts progressing on all this ? Malc
