  1. My Yuasa experiences are good. 5 year warranty lasted 8 years on my 91 car VARTA are POOR and to be avoided …… didn’t even last the 4yr warranty in my Honda Legend ……. and replaced under warranty recently 😄 It can be very inconvenient when the battery lets you down unexpectedly Malc
  2. AWD ……. my 2006 Honda Legend simple saloon car has this feature as standard I find the AWD kicks in automatically when the weather prevails and is a boon in bad winter driving My ordinary other cars, the Ls400s are totally useless in snow, ice whatever …… they stay at home The AWD Honda hugs the ground and goes anywhere needed in all wintry conditions Just my experiences Malc
  3. But are the pressures right, valves ok, any “ flat spots “ on the treads, wheel balance correct ??? Stones stuck in the tread too Might be worth re-checking at some stage 🤔 Just coz the tyres are Premium and new …….. Malc
  4. Is it really a brake problem ? Have you checked and double checked the tyres for bulges or summat not right that's throwing it all awry ? Malc
  5. The more I have to renew the better ….. lots of 3 years please …… guess I’m on my 2nd already 👍 Malc
  6. Never seen any availability …… yet 🤔 Malc
  7. One of your most sensible decisions ever …… absolutely no point having a fab car that one’s afraid to use coz of some silly worry about putting miles on an invincible engine and / or saving a few bob on the insce costs whatever ….. Excellent decision 👍 Or indeed preserving its “ status “ for some later owner to drive and enjoy ENJOY 😊 Malc
  8. David hi and welcome Don’t sell it 😄 at 225k miles, whatever it’s best condition and reliability it’s value to someone else will be very very small ……. Put up piccys and regn no. for possible buyers to check out MOT stuff over the years …… your log of maintenance and repairs too …… someone will buy it BUT at those miles I really cannot see you being happy with it’s likely sale value …… whatever that could be …… not a great deal for sure sadly Still good for another 25 years and 500k miles whatever Good luck 🤞 Malc
  9. Well, I’d be peeed off if someone I thought wanted to sell a car couldn’t be bothered getting back to me ……. wouldn’t you too ! Malc
  10. The Recovery Breakdown people will have the jack, wheel brace etc so you won't need to buy and store those .... Malc
  11. Older car owners are often quite astute when considering their cherished steeds ……. and probably overcome those MOT foibles to keep ‘em going Malc
  12. Please do update us in say a month ………. either way ! Thanks Malc
  13. Remembering that RAC cover can often utilise the Spacesaver wheels which the RAC van holds ( if he has any left on board ) which you go to the tyre garage with and they hold that Spacesaver for return/ collection by the RAC itself Assuming the RAC guy has any remaining on board at that time It’s not just a puncture it’s a pothole tyre write-off these days one has to be wary of I don’t know if the Lexus Breakdown you hold covers all this ! Good luck Malc
  14. New build homes ? Apartment blocks too ……. one charging point for each flat then ? Malc
  15. EVs will, my thoughts tell me, go the way of the diesel in terms of UK acceptability with Govt changing the goalposts on pricing for punters to keep them on the road Just reading today the demise of the USA Hertz boss following his failure in getting it wrong financially buying fleets of EVs that have settled unacceptable enormous costs of running, maintaining and depreciating their stock on the Hertz business Back to conventional cars for them ……. and maybe us probably ……. who knows eh ! 🤔 Malc
  16. Amayama has I understand several source bases to export to UK …….. and one might be fortunate to get what one needs somewhat cheaper than RockAuto , LPD or Lexus/Toyota here in the UK when you have the need then just explore those online opportunities ….. incl carriage too of course Ive done very well from Amayama in past times with suspension stuff and have probably saved many many £00’s possibly a thousand or more …… replacement product might well last the car’s lifetime with you 😄 UK Govt Import Customs and VAT issues might change from time to time whatever …… Malc
  17. Celebratory at 100k miles …….. I’ll just make sure I’m still around to use them each, every other day, coz I just KNOW that’s what keeps them in fine fettle ……. oh, and a bottle of Aldi Prosecco too on the day …… maybe a month hence 😄 Malc am I a cheapskate 🤩
  18. very very fiddly gently, very slightly topping up to the Cold Marker Level on the PAS reservoir on my 91 Ls400 ..... it seemed only very slightly low when peering into the reservoir ... BUT it's removed the faint occasional " catching " noise at the steering ........ no signs of any leaks anywhere, maybe just evaporation syndrome over the time since last checked, whenever that might have been ! Now on 99500 miles ... wot a delight she is to drive .... as of course is my 95 Ls400 on nigh 250k miles now 😇 Malc
  19. Just get the best and longest warranty battery that’s available …… not a Varta tho’ ! Malc
  20. Road Tax possibly about £725 this year upcoming ! very steep BUT in the great scheme of owning and running cars it's ok ..... the Ls400s are I believe about £325 and my 1932 Triumph is a big fat ZERO ...... it's only money and you can't take it with you whatever ... and she indoors much much prefers the Legend to the Ls400 Malc
  21. Lest we forget that newer car headlamp bulb brightness is far far whiter brighter than the new bulb yellowish brightness of more elderly cars …… and they’re all MOT ok I’m sure night driving I’m quite ok with the eyes easily adjusting to the old fashioned yellowish headlamps ok It’s the like dazzling Main Beam of the new white headlamps that’s to my mind unnecessarily penetrating and I think possibly quite dangerous, MOT approved or not ! Malc
  22. Our 2006 Honda Legend 3.5ltr gets used most days too. ….. her car of course ……. Being regularly and frequently used is the key to longevity and less trouble methinks 👌 Too many nice cars to use is a problem with not enough driving days in the week maybe 🤔 Malc
