  1. Alan hi and welcome here from me NOW .. I'm a great one for thinking Japanese cars direct should be a boon for people in the UK BUT what put me off buying one totally was the inability to find anyone likely able to remove ALL the Jap language hieroglyphics and buttons ........ that stopped me buying an Lexus Jap import car these past months Good luck in your endeqavours and if you find that solution I'm seeking then do message me and let me know please Malc
  2. The update on this from our learned Members here is that there is the potential for this same failure in all Ls400 models However, thankfully, there’s never yet been a report of this ever happening ……, on here anyway …… that I have come across The Ls400 set-up must surely be built of more robust materials ……. mines on 248k miles and no signs yet …… touch wood The update on my 2006 Honda Legend is confirming this same problem and my car mechanic guy is trying to source a replacement radiator ….. but challenging …… only 286? Of this model sold in the UK …… then full drain down of the gearbox oil whatever and then hopefully back for another 149k miles of blissful stress free ownership 😄 Malc
  3. Nigel. The Mk1 is a wondrous car …… suggest use her more, every other day, and enjoy the comfort and brilliant everyday motoring she can give …….. Malc
  4. Hi and welcome 😄 Take full note of Steve’s thoughts above ☝️ He has bounds of knowledge 👍 Asking here, do you have personal experience of overhauling brake parts and calipers ? If not then if this fix falls to you to sort out I would suggest you ask your regular competent garage engineer to do all this for you Hopefully you have built a good rapport over the years …….. that garage will probably have experience of overhauling calipers hopefully Not for the feint hearted nor very sensible to put your trust in non experienced brake overhauls …… get them sorted by someone competent …… your life hinges on it all being absolutely 100% spot on Malc
  5. Can the car be lifted by a sling …… similar to a skip effect or maybe a builders 1tonne bag style lift …… just trying to think outside the box ! Malc
  6. It’s incredible that an otherwise competent garage workshop hasn’t the nouse, or simply can’t be bothered, to do a relatively simple job ……. that the Lexus Main Dealer workshop guys would maybe do, albeit at perhaps 3 or 4 times the cost of a local garage here in a more populated area of the UK Caithness garages holding the population to ransom maybe ……. it’s not good 😰 Good luck David getting this sensibly sorted by a local competent willing garage Malc
  7. Nick. Was it actually an MOT Advisory too ? if so then thinking yes to have it sorted BUT if it’s not, maybe just the Lexus service guys touting for work ……. it’s not unknown sadly ……. then if there’s no issue with driving the car then maybe this might be one piece of preventative maintenance a tad too far ! Just my thoughts 🤔 Malc
  8. You're living in unknown territory and at 330k miles it's simply amazing ............. Good luck Malc
  9. Coil overs it might be then ……. and onwards to 500,000 miles 😄 Malc
  10. David hi …….. are you on about 300k miles if my memory serves me 🤔 Reading various posts about negligible comfort differences ( if any ) twixt air / coilovers and if it was me, and your cars still brilliant, well, I’d seriously consider the coilover solution Good luck Malc
  11. Excuse the Q from an unenlightened forum member ! What is the prop shaft damper …… is it just the rubber piece “ bung” joining it all up ? Or is it a major whole unit piece maybe where some service guys think the whole prop shaft has to be replaced ? Could make a big difference in understanding what the economic solution might be 🤔 Thanks Malc
  12. arisen from slumber for sure ……. May your choccy intake be sensible and responsibly sourced or sauced ….. Happy Easter one and all Malc
  13. Ho hum …….. getting desperate now then ……. Malc
  14. What are you going to do when she goes out for a run and returns with underside grubbiness ? Malc
  15. Oh dear …….. deeper pockets needed then ……. double with 2 x Ls400s ……. I’ve never, however, seen anyone reporting this on this Forum of course ……. might their cars have gone pop and just been scrapped ……. for the sake of a new radiator and oil cooler 🤔 Malc
  16. Thank you ………. so it’s best to just leave it all alone in peace ……. there’s no likely sensible preventative maintenance with this do you think ? Malc
  17. Paul thank you for this. The oil coolant gizmo stuff…. might it be coz yours is a Mk4 Ls400 ? otherwise I’m going to be double worrying to eternity ( having 2 older cars ) …….. OR I just accept the inevitable idc and pray it might never go “ pop “ Malc …….. U could have come up with a better answer for me 😂
  18. Welcome to the Forum …… unusual daily driver ……. Wots the radiator leak then ……. all that water 😂 Malc
  19. I'm intrigued by the " flare tube " ......... for an emergency at sea 🤣 Malc
  20. I haven’t worn out my Mk1 nor Mk3 yet …….. I couldn’t possibly graduate to a Mk4 😄 Malc
  21. Already clocked twice ??? over 2 million miles then ... WOWEEEE 😉 Malc
