Oh My God ……… please please please wake up every day and think “ I’m awake and it’s a brilliant day and I’m going to make the very best of this glorious day “ Coz one day you won’t be able to …….. when you’ve almost been “ dead, dying every waking day “ with some cancer whatever ……. and you think you know it’s really your last day ……. and then, seemingly miraculously, each day seems to improve ……. Then you’ll realise each and every day is to be relished and blessed Malc

I don’t know how these Agreed Valuations work BUT you say you had a valuation ( up ) to £19k …… surely this holds some sway ? A written professional valuation ? How do these insurers deal with this process I wonder 🤔 Hopefully one never has to find out eh ! Malc
-
So then, what Agreed Value have AF agreed ? …… and an excess ? Malc
-
clearly wishing it could have been repaired with brand new bits BUT sense prevailed and he convinced the insurers to agree 2ndhand parts, for speed as much as anything else ......... and rather than using any insce provided interim car he's happily used his daughter's car as she's away at Uni and it's good to have the other car to use ( and being used daily ) and not to be another drain on the insurance costs all round Malc

Do please keep us updated with your sale progress Malc

Would you run an LC outside of Lexus Relax.
Malc1 replied to Flytvr's topic in Lexus LC500 / LC500h Club
Dings and dents are part and parcel of everyday motoring and those who deign to keep their cars in aspic are wondrous owners ……… if ever I were to find a LS400 in perfect bodywork nick it’d scare me rigid to own it …… let alone use it ! Wondrous cars are great at car shows but even then unless one’s fanatical, there’ll be some blemishes I’m sure …….. I’d go mad trying to keep on top of all that prim’ness 😄 But I do admire those that do for sure 👍 Malc -
our cats usually " see off " any dogs that dare venture close by Malc

Scs getting old with their owners too ……… your Sc relies on YOU to wake up every morning so stop whingeing and ENJOY every day …… it won’t come again ……., AND your health is ok really …… you wake up every day , get out and about and have the mental capacity to actually whinge …….. so ENJOY Do you take any useful exercise ? like swimming maybe 🤔 Malc I thought Lexus owners were made of sterner stuff tbh

If I didn’t already have two Ls400s ( my Honda Legend and my classic 1932 Triumph too ) I’d be accelerating our holiday trip to Scotland, to this year, to pick her up …….. Best wishes with the sale Malc

She looks a peach. You must be distraught parting company with such a grand car ……. and as for the price …….. priceless ……. to the right buyer of course 👍 Malc

Blimey. GSF. I bought big 5yr warranty Yuasa silver one from my local store last August when I bought my 91 Ls400 ….. £166 Not much reduces in price but it’s now £133 👍 Might be a great time to buy your new battery Perry ! Malc
-
My recent’ish Varta experience isn’t good Yuasa have been brilliant but I always buy the highest quality, life etc Yuasa And I used to buy from the Toyota Main Dealer Spares Dept in times past where the pricing was very competitive But times change ! I’ve never bought a battery from Halfords Good luck Malc

I don’t know its age but he’s had it a few years and bought it 2nd hand from Marshall’s Cambridge ? ……. Suez hold ups are a fact of life right now ……. Indeterminate timeline Malc

Rolls Royce and Bentley are supreme quality but initial owners buy them usually for short term use and their on-life is decades with relatively tiny value …… to mitigate running costs no doubt …….. similarly the LC500 p’raps 🤔 Expensive cars new often require deep maintenance pockets in later life ….. the LC500 no exception maybe No one, surely, buys an expensive car thinking they’ll be worrying about the maintenance costs 🤔 Malc -

Malc1 replied to Flytvr's topic in Lexus LC500 / LC500h Club
Lexus LC 500 is surely of utmost Lexus quality similar ( or better ? ) to the brilliant renowned Ls400 and successors With proper maintenance including known preventative maintenance the Ls400 and successors will endure many hundreds of thousands of amazing miles …….. and often, usually, without Main Dealer attention in later life Buy the LC with confidence eh ! I’ve not read here of challenging problems to mitigate ownership …… just don’t be afraid to spend a little maintenance money to achieve wonderful longevity Just an uninformed layman view with some 25 years of constant Ls400 ownership …… and a few hundred thousand, relatively inexpensive wonderful miles Malc -
Damnably Tesco new pumps …… cut me off at £120 and at 155.9p = a tad under 77 ltrs and she’s full just about, well that’s how she reads …… yes I panicked as one does …… been on the orange light for about 12 miles BUT I’ve never seen another Ls400 almost cabriolet like yours ………. I’m sure they all have about that 100 miles left in ‘em Malc

Service showing wheel tracking alignment out each year
Malc1 replied to Lynne S's topic in New Members Area
My understanding is that most often the “ red “ for the Rear Wheels alignment isn’t going to affect your driving nor handling of the car …… nor detrimental to the car, tyres etc …….. is there detrimental, discernible rear tyre wear ?? …… if yes then action is needed ……. if not then, well, you know my layman thoughts Perfection will necessitate a remedy …… Practicality …… it might be ok to leave ……. AS with the aircon recharge ! Your depth of pockets will dictate I’m sure Best wishes Malc -
They happily agreed to use genuine brand new in the box Range Rover parts too BUT they’re possibly somewhere in Houtl Hezbollah container ship land and might not be “ here “ for some indeterminate MONTHS sadly Malc

The Question of our Trust in the Professional advising us eh ! ……… Do we, don’t we …….. sad these days when you want to Trust but think you’re really being “ ripped off “ with unnecessary costs Malc -
Canterbury Lexus I always associated with the Toyota Main Dealer, as it’s ( or was, lots of redevelopment build going on right now ) just a few hundred yards along that same road …… with the usual upmarket Lexus style coffee etc available whilst waiting in the showroom / Spares Dept all in there too 🤔 And buying Spares bits for my Lexii over the years Malc
-
DeWalt is a little beyond me these days 🤔 I always worry when it hits that light …… rarely happens BUT I know what’s left of the 85.1 ltr tank capacity to KNOW there’s about 100 miles left ……. the 91 Ls400 now on that yellow light and 99,978 miles ……, soon be champagne time 😂 E5 Tesco Momentum usually these days …… we always get screwed on the petrol price wherever we get it 😰 Malc

Service showing wheel tracking alignment out each year
Malc1 replied to Lynne S's topic in New Members Area
Wheel alignment / tracking is often influenced by the state of the roads you’re driving on and that impact on your tyres, steering set-up whatever ……. and at the tiny mileage covered you might not even see undue tyre wear either …. Yet …. Might be the service guys are recommending as they’re just touting for business whatever It used to be that if there was nowt wrong then the checking wasn’t charged for …… you’d get a printout showing green and red indicators and green at the final printout when all adjusted …….. Often the rear adjustments are just a little unnecessary ( over the top ) as that won’t affect your steering …….. On this basis you might want to have it checked out at an independent tyre place that does tracking etc AND not charge if there’s nowt to be adjusted ! You’ll see by the printouts I’ve mentioned The air con re-charge …… seems OTT to my mind too 🤔 Good luck ! Malc -
Remembering about 30 years ago driving thru parts of the old East Germany ( 2nd ex-wife’s family lived there ) and lots of missing huge cobbles from the age old built cobbled city and town streets …… a bit of a shock if you hit a “ hole “ for sure Malc
