I had this exact same issue on my 91 car last August with a rubberised back, thick black mat over the standard boot lining ……. really damp / wet on the spare wheel 😰 …… condensation Malc

Likewise this insidious anomaly with a glass claim these days ….. you seem to be OBLIGED to accept this as a Claim on your record even though it’s, in theory, no claim against you personally BUT it’s clearly a black mark against you whatever going forward …… the insurers won’t lose on their car business for sure ….. all us drivers will be contributing to their bottom line PROFITS I suppose they have to recoup their catastrophe losses globally somehow …. I pushed and pushed and wasn't going to give up, so much so that the Claims Handling Coy threw in the towel and just gave up with their client ..... and it all went thru' the insurers as normal ! personally think you're just a bit nuts selling her ...... . you're only 80 and many many more good driving years ahead hopefully .... but life has it's detractons too and you've sensibly assessed what's happening eh ! I was chatting yesterday to a guy at an antiques shop locally and his father-in-law at 90, has had his Ls400 for some 25 years from nearly new, usually garaged and immaculate too he says, and is still out and about driving it, but not so often now with the Yaris for shopping whatever ........ Your location in Scotland might limit a tad the potential buyers I'm thinking ........ let's see ........ as I said, it's " priceless " to the discerning buyer out there somewhere Good luck Malc

I must say I’ve insured my 91 Ls 400 with a subsidiary of AF ……. I found it quite really difficult finding a Classic insurer last August when I bought this 2nd car ! Malc
