  1. How long is the scarf your knitting after all these visits 😅 Malc
  2. It’s interesting to study this and to note the law allows EMERGENCY USE of different sized wheels as a spare up to 50mph but as EMERGENCY USE ONLY could get many owners out of a difficult “ hole “ in that hopefully rare event But it has to clearly fit the studs etc 🤔 Malc
  3. Chop suey included 😂 …… Well done Enjoy your brand spanking new MG …… bet it’s bugged and listens in on all your saying and relating it back to the Xi politburo somehow 🤣 ENJOY Malc
  4. The Ls400 is really a thing of some beauty …… just watching my N reg one across the road here from a seat bench in leafy beautiful Headcorn high street ….. Kent Sun’s not out, rain neither …… I’d so miss her ……. You sure you’re doing right by yourself in selling yours ? Will be a wrench …….. heap of junk old Merc to substitute, nah never surely 🤔 Malc
  5. 85.1 ltrs and E5, forum posts indicate more fuel efficient and economic by using less E5 than if you put in E10 for the same miles Whatever, the low fuel light ( on my Mk3 ) pops on with 100 miles remaining and consumption is dictated by one’s right foot mode AND for me early 30’s mpg on a good hard run, down to late teens poodling around Its a little disingenuous to overly worry about mpg when one’s driving a 4ltr V8 limo 😂 Just refuel before the worry beads start eh ! 😇 Keep us posted on the sale progress please and in the meantime your pax are enjoying limo trips to hospital whatever ……. lucky them 👍 Good luck with the sale ……. hope you don’t regret the parting of ways Malc
  6. just remembering the idyll of the waterfront at Rouen .......... blissful a few years back .. wonder if it's changed . for the better ! Malc
  7. David hi and welcome to this forum …….. which battery did Roy use ? He’d have investigated it thoroughly and chosen well ……. that might be the way to go ! Assuming he’d replaced it at some stage I don’t have any answer for you sorry, someone will here …… Malc
  8. Anthony ....... how's the sale progressing ? still for sale even ? Malc
  9. dreadful for you 🥵 I was under the clearly false impression that modern day cars would automatically NOT lock with keys in the boot 🤔 Ah, we usually keep the 2nd set of keys in gfs handbag hopefully also not locked in the car Well done only 90 mins climbing out of that mire Malc
  10. Vauxhall Cresta and Wyvern I remember. just, my dad drove one ( or other new in the day ) Like you, I’m afeared to put a key in that barrel …….. not been used in 29 and 33 years respectively maybe ….., I’m not that brave ……, just in case it seizes 😅 Mk1V Ls400 ……. are you keeping her now ? Malc
  11. You must be so relieved .............. dreadful that the initial workshops couldn't be more professional in their anaysis and save you all that stress and worry Well done now ........... 10 outta 10 👍 Malc
  12. Just looking at the classicscarforsale website and there's a boootiful looking P reg Mk3, with 228k miles BUT clearly showing paintwork shedding it's lacquer coats ( or more ) Door and rear wings etc. Wot to do eh to get back to impossible perfection .... or nay ! 🤔 Malc
  13. The odd Stop Lamp, wiper blades ……. You’ll buy those from the local store …….. anything major might never go awry in your lifetime UNLESS she’s happily taking you on some mega trips 😄 Love the colour …… similar to my 91 Ls400 …….. Ive just used AUTODOC for my Honda Legend, rare as hens teeth, radiator …… and that seems to have arrived in 5 days from order, from Lithuania ok I didn’t try Amayama or Rockauto Just relieved to find one online at all at a “ sensible “ price £145 all-up, compared to the Honda Main Dealer that would have sourced from their EU Main Store in Belgium ! at £995 🥵 Malc Nice looking rare car Chris 👍
  14. There’s some really nice cars there BUT of course the pinnacle …… which you finally managed to achieve …….. your Lexus Ls400 😄 Malc
  15. Anthony. Well Done to you on your community role Radiotherapy for me anyway, was a quite dramatically severe experience at not 5 but 7 weeks 5 days a week …….. but hopefully ESSENTIAL to life’s longevity …… fingers xd eh ! 🙏 Very Well Done to you Anthony 👍 Malc
  16. ah you see, all my cars are in every other-daily use and never been garaged ..... it's only this past 12 month that this bad paint effect has manifested ...... climate and pollution possibly having that cumulative bad effect maybe ......... i wonder if it's all getting much worse ! Malc
  17. my 250k miles N reg Ls400 is possibly worth about zilch £££££ tbh ..... although she's in great mechanical condition and drives amazingly well .... always properly serviced etc the J reg one is in much better fare paintwise at just over the 100k miles mark and has had a little paintwork tlc that I can discerne ........ again cost me about £1200 + £166 new battery and £250 servicing MOT etc when I bought her last August ........ again probably not worth spending much on the paintwork These are amazing cars and will keep going forever and a day .... i just have to think that money spent on paintwork, say £10k for them both might be money better spent somewhere else I was tempted to buy a 2000 year Mk4 that's been well kept at about £4500 and 170k miles BUT she indoors would go nuts at yet another Ls400 around Getting attached to cars is a bit stupid I know BUT when they just never let you down, unlike modern electrical issues on newer cars, then maybe I should just stay put with them till they have to go .. write-off accident whatever ! A tiny knock I know will get the insurers agitated ....... even with the X reg Ls400 that's been offered for sale on here recently ... they write cars off for tiny bodywork issues Spending anything like £4/5k - 10k is possibly a bit silly for me .......... I know I would be happy to just do a 5000 mile trip in either car, just checking the levels, tyre pressures etc before I go AND I know I'd be a bit fearsome of that journey in absolutely any other car, even a new Lexus whatever WRAPPING has been spoken of on here before ...... anyone a real ball park £££££ figure maybe ? I suspect it's going to be silly money again ! Lucky I'm not a car nut needing uptodate models whatever ...... long back I owned a car sales business in Kent and even then couldn't understand why people wanted to buy one of our great 2ndhand cars when they were p/ex'ing their own, usually perfectly good car too 🤔 Ho hum ! Malc
  18. Hi everyone. Just noting that the OP Adam hasn’t been back here since 14th January ! Malc
  19. I’m not at all surprised ……. Paintwork is extremely expensive …….. my son-in-law has just acquired a 1950’s VW Beetle he loves and lovingly restored the paintwork, the owner died and his widow didn’t want to pay the bill to the classic car restorers he works for ! They restore RR Bentleys ancient Mercs Astons and all else and the “ yard” is always full of “ top end “ limos with worn out paint finishes Malc
  20. It’s the elixir of life ……. and washes cars too 👍 Malc
  21. My son in law resprays elderly cars professionally …… he’s being doing it for decades …… and asks me “ what can you expect at this age “ It’s quite normal and generally expected he advises on such aged original bodywork Cest le vie What I do know is the moment I spend £££££ on expensive bodywork issues there’ll be some almighty wallop to undo the good ……. not sure I want to tempt providence tbh 🤔 Malc
  22. Snowdon too ……. similar with a foreign lingo 🤣 Malc
