Body shop repairs, labour, paint costs are now enormous ……. and often non-availability of new OEM parts ……. coz they’re stuck on a ship trying to get thru the Suez Canal or around the Cape …… to impossibly get to the UK ……are a huge feature and prematurely incline the insurer to simply write-off cars even superficially ( to us ) damaged Malc

Just a thought ……. if these cars are arriving in Italy for sale from other L/h drive nations I wonder if it’s worth your while looking for these cars in say France / Belgium/ Netherlands etc …….. choose which ones you wish to inspect further ……. one way cheapy flight , inspect and buy car and drive home 🤞 Malc

Oh yes, I forgot you’re L/h driving BUT. I had a fantastic month’s holiday driving thru’ the length and breadth of Italy in my Ls400 and the road widths and terrain didn’t present a problem at all …… but there were a few challenging drivers tho’ 🤣 Good luck Malc

suggest maybe you simply arrange to check out some here in the UK . fly over one way, ( as cheap as chips ) , and drive the one you buy home to Italy ......... a lovely drive and if you've bought the right car will get you home safely and easily ......... and save yourself much money in the process ........ maybe up to £10k .... and if you can't find one here in the UK ........... then just fly back home .............. 🤞 Malc

Wow that’s a really interesting insight into corrosion prevention thru the ages of cars ……. and a cheapy modern steed might have such great longevity of about some. 6. years ……. that’s a revelation for sure 🤫 So then Tom 999 ……. your 2018 Lexus might well be heading for the scrapper sometime soon 🤣😂 But it’s a Lexus and 6 years just might be a tad premature ……. hopes 😳 Rust colour discolouration is all you have Tom I’m sure 👍🤞🤞 Malc

Linas hi …….. just keep paying your due taxes like all other good citizens and all will be well ……… let’s remember our dear Chancellor of the Exchequer and her NHS is it ? employed hubby are indubitably paying their fair share of taxes on their joint income, slightly above that of a standard OAP on some £218 a week ……… not sure how one equates their joint income of £450/500k per annum …… oh yes, about £10,218 a glorious food laden, well heated home ….. each week 😂 Oh how they must comprehend the need to live, eat and heat frugally, sparingly eh ! I guess both my Ls400s strategically fall either side in spares needs, if and whenever 🤔 And whilst I live not far, Sheppey that island in Kent …….. as that crow flies across the seas …… the car journey time is a little tortuous and over 100 miles or maybe 2+hrs to the Clacton you mention ……… Your Ls400 should readily pass its next MOT ……. fingers 🤞 Malc

Are you sure it’s the gasket and not just the sump plug ? Malc many moons ago I had to have a new sump plug on my Ls400 ……. never a gasket 🤞 -
