My 95 is a Mk3 and since buying the now 100k miles Mk1. 91 J reg one last August I do indeed use them each alternate day …… I’m sad I don’t use them enough tbh coz they are better in daily use for sure, keeps ‘em “ healthy “ I wouldn’t hesitate to use either for a 5k mile trip tomorrow somewhere, anywhere ……. just check the levels and tyre pressures and I know they’d reliably go anywhere 👍👏👍…. and back 😀 How the Mk1V compares I don’t really know ……. Messi or Stanwithaplan will be happy to give you any advice on a Mk1V for sure Go buy one, a Ls400, but do do use it lots, they’re capable of mega very comfy reliable miles Just annual servicing and the usual preventative maintenance will hold you in good stead …… these cars are capable of an immeasurable lifespan I use E5 petrol for sure Malc

Hi, Ls400s are brilliant cars I’ve had one constantly for 25+ years and my N reg 95 Mk3 car for maybe 13 years 🤔and 126k of its 250k miles …… she’s brilliant of course 😂 BUT no one puts a tow bar on them ! with the Ls400 it was often some metallic object loose in the centre console BUT if it couldn't be turned off, with the Ls400, there is a dial arrangement that can be turned down to " silence " just in front of the centre console under the veneer ,,,,, but take great care with it, it's maybe fragile'ish too Malc

Just take yourself off ... that's all I ever did when gf indoors wanted to / wants to stay behind to look after all our cats ........ I've done a few of those one month away stints over the years .. in my N reg Ls400 too BUT I have taken earlier Ls400s over much of closer Europe too ....... we have now / I had courtesy of my 2nd wife ... much German family to go see including into the old Eastern Bloc too ... I first started my European ramblings with my bank mgr car ..... a Vauxhall Carlton was a blissful car to go fly around Switzerland especially ...... but that was some 35 years back . when I was young and had much energy ... .... sadly that energy has dissipated over recent times 🤣😂 Malc

But all in all I had a most amazing marvellous one month trip driving around and Top to Toe holiday throughout Italy ..... but it did take me a whole month 👍 Malc

I was fascinated at the Motorways enroute 😂🤣 occasionally they just STOPPED in mud and gravel and continued as a B road whatever ……. but that was some years back ……. Surely they’ve improved 🥳 Malc

Gulp …… lots of ££££ spent but probably good for another 100k + miles 🤔 and if you’re keeping her for a while then a sound investment ( if ever a car can be ) that will give you many years of superb motoring …… at overall economic average annual cost Well done 👍 Malc

Oh my . itchy feet here and I so want to do another biggish trip somewhere ............ it used to be a month solo and maybe £5k ...... just driving all over wherever . could never settle in one location for more than two days 😇 There always was plenty of B&Bs and small hotels whatever and ALWAYS a bed for the night somewhere ..... and mostly very good, happy and inexpensive really and ALWAYS met really nice happy people too, everywhere Malc
