  1. I've not yet seen a Lexus Brand battery ..... Lexus always told me the best battery was the Yuasa that Lexus specified to be used ( at the time ) ....... from the local Toyota spares Dept. ! Malc
  2. Amayama delivered to the UK with vat import duty etc adds about 100% to their " book price " sadly Malc
  3. this one looks on the face of it a pretty good car ...... very rare now at this age ........... low'ish mileage and if there's no rust and the servicing is good then she should attract a sensible buyer what it's worth tho' is anybody's guess I had an early J reg one ( J54DAP ) ............. but my Mk3 now on 241k miles is far far better driving etc although the Mk1 did take us over lots of Germany and covered 184k miles by the time she went Nostalgia sadly kicks in too 👍 Malc
  4. blimey, your E5 is 18p ltr dearer than mine That's disgraceful Malc
  5. I'm fearing there's going to be on-going potential unknowing electrical gremlins as our cars get older I experienced lots of weird gremlins which i reported here on last year or so ............. we've got quite ancient cars and must now expect these little challenges I'm afraid Others don't suffer as we do ..... their cars just don't exist at the age of ours ...... theirs' have long gone to the scrappy 😂 Malc
  6. Often find a big Sainsbury does 97 octane E5 likewise a big Tesco with 99 octane and a Morrisons at 97 octane The uplift yesterday ? in the Newton Abbott Sainsbury E5 price was 8p at 160.9 I'll be filling up there again before i go home............... 210 miles today to Penzance, where everywhere E10 ranged between 168.9 and 179.9 .... it's crass ............ around a bit and back to our borrowed des res in Devon ................ more local trips tomorrow methinks ..... it's a little tiring even tho, it's blissful motoring .......... just all these dreadful roadworks and bad mannered other drivers ...... all non-Lexus tho' of course 🧐 Malc
  7. always found when my orange light appears there's about 100 miles left in her Malc
  8. Maybe shift responsibility for fitting the correct spec battery, correctly, to an independent 3rd party that supplies car batteries ...... say the RAC ( on a breakdown say ) who will deal with all this very professionally and provide a standard 5 year warranty .... at a slight £££ premium I'm sure BUT you will get the " best " hopefully Just a thought ! Malc
  9. suneel hi ... has this failure come as a shock then ? was there no prior MOT Advisory about this ? Malc

    MPG

may be of interest .... on my Ls400 I've rarely driven her out of PWR mode these many years past coz finding that the MPG slightly improved overall together with improved responsiveness performance too ... smoothness of drive etc Not the same drivetrain I know but a 4ltr nonetheless from which one might normally expect worse MPG when effectively being put thru her paces rather than in ECON mode PWR all the way these days 👍 Malc
  11. is it possible to get one fabricated these days .......... especially with 3D Printing of perhaps the section of the pipe that's failing Just a thought Malc
  12. and today in Newton Abbot Devon ... E10 at 152.9p and the E5 for me at 160.9p at Sainsbury's and whatever the Nectar points might be worth on 70.8 ltrs Not seen it this not so expensive for a long long time Malc
  13. it's what I've been saying now for some 23 years 👍 Malc
  14. methinks the sooner diesel vehicles are totally banned in the UK the better ( maybe I jest, maybe not )...... jeez, on my way down to Devon yesterday on hols . from Kent ...... there's still plenty of landrovers and other monster diesel cars / SUVs chucking out copious noxious smoke whereas my baby seemed a blessing on the road, no fuel nor noise pollution either ............ hate to think what the traffic would be like in the summer holiday times ............ and to think back in the '50s and 60's my parents drove us down to even Cornwall on what now seems tiny roads Upper diesel and even petrol prices are probably simply a local factor of the fuel station tanks not yet being refilled at whatever the changing supply price is ... or was I give up with worrying about the price of petrol now I'm just resigned to filling up where I'm passing at the best value and hopefully not being ripped off I know, like many on here that I'm so fortunate not to have to worry about whatever prices Malc
  15. Me................... I'm a formidable Expert in absolutely bugger all my expertise is second to none and I doubt anyone could be better expert at this than me I profess to be an Expert in nowt Malc NOW please to the fuel panic issues
  16. new MOT with a clean bill of health AND the interim service done should give you peace of mind to sort out the niggling non-essentials in time if the price is right I prefer a well looked after and usefully used car to summat that's been mollycoddled and paying a premium for that alone I'd be interested if i was ever to be in the market for a Ls600 ..... but I don't think my old lady's ever going to give-up the ghost ( fingers xd ) at 241k just upcoming These Ls's' sure can be wonderful cars Malc
  17. looks nice ..... is the full service history by Lexus ? and of course she would have a fresh independent MOT before you bought no doubt A good healthy mileage and by now you'd have expected lots of suspension stuff to have been refreshed .... OEM preferably of course Tell us more ................. Malc
  18. it's travelled no distance these past few years ........... she's not been put thru' her paces methinks these past recent years If you're going to use her then I'd be thinking to buy one with some more recent and useful miles under her belt ..... a quite higher mileage with good service Lexus history would be more my cup of tea ...... she should have covered about 140k miles by now and had all that suspension stuff replaced etc ... and be at a more sensible price I would go for a higher mileage well serviced machine Malc
  19. issue now is that no-one has any idea who's ripping us off with prices oils UP generally I'm guessing, Sterling is all over the place and oil in US$ makes it all challenging to understand No idea here on best value for money supermarket fuel ....... i guess NONE to be fair I'm refilling when I need to now and doing my day to day shopping in a non-petrol retailer ...... e.g ALDI and LIDL fed up being taken for a ride by those supermarkets retailing fuel Malc
  20. ... or anyone living on the A20 maybe . noisy road with many 000s of properties abutting over it's entire length methinks Malc
  21. my " buttons " are bereft of any black at all mostly, just a grubby looking clearish plasticky effect sadly I'll find a permanent black marker pen to see if that's of any effect Malc
  22. that premium must be a record low in these straitened times for our poor insurers Malc
  23. looks a smart car but without the Reg No. one cannot check the MOT stuff ! Malc
  24. Steve, thinking about your upcoming purchase then ? I'd sure get the Dealer to replace all those Advisory Suspension issues over some years, on your target car purchase seeing above, the garage 10hrs to do 4 of the 10 ... is it ................ at UK Main Dealer prices that's £2k min labour charge alone ( gulp ! ) Take care eh ! Malc
  25. just thinking mine are all 4 bereft of most of the black too ....... might a simple black marker pen be a permanent and ok finish I wonder ? they are stand alone and not near anything to compare with ! Malc
