  1. I was reading long way back from somewhere that the early Ls400, life of a cambelt . before self destruct . is @ 150k miles Malc
  2. Paul, my sympathies now lie with all Lexii owners trying desperately to improve their " experience " and at some quite staggering cost . say £70 - 100k when all one really needs for supreme comfort, reliability, durability, ease of maintenance and street cred with a V8 4 ltr is simply an older steed of Ls400 vintage No wonder the prices of these are escalating ...... to discerning drivers wanting a more " sensible " Lexus no doubt I don't have a jealous streak in me so far as cars are concerned, I'm donkeys years past that ........ and a very long term driver of an Ls400 of course 😇 Malc
  3. Just had a call from the Honda Main Dealer and YES the wiper blade has arrived and wheyyyyy..... . he opened the box to check and he's never seen one like it before either . these youngsters eh ! anyone would think the car is rare 🤣 Malc
  4. Good luck with it all Sandro ... Lexii seem to be long lasting, comfy and long term running costs bearable too Malc
  5. mine on the Ls400 were changed at the last service ( November ) for full blades ..... till then, for many times, I had just replaced the rubbers . these are now better but no idea of the make as the guy servicing the car just got them from his usual Factor supplier . they seem fine btw Malc
  6. We are so so lucky with our more simple cars wiper rubbers and blades generally ....... always easily available and inexpensive I know Just having to replace the split driver's side windscreen wiper on my 56 plate Honda Legend .. 3 screws system blade fitting ............and no other car like it ..... it's a Honda Main Dealer only part and just short of £20 and a few days delivery time the last time I bought the one from the Honda Main Dealer was £12.88 in Dec 2017 and about 30k miles ago 🤑 Hope this new one lasts as long eh ! Malc
  7. Ken hi, as you appreciate It's 10 years and / or 100k miles so there's not going to be many can give you an uptodate cost . it used to be an all day job and the cost of the belt and any pulleys needed and the waterpump of course My last time on my Ls400 was about 40k miles ago and quite some years ......... and my indy's labour charge then was about £40 an hour . so I'm thinking it cost me about 400 squid back then BUT it's about an all day job ....... whatever Malc
  8. Don't do it . keep your mind always active otherwise one might deteriorate ... Charlie Munger is 99 and Warren Buffet, his Boss, about 96 now . they founded Berkshire Hathaway and working keeps 'em alive and thinking good Malc
  9. on the Ls400 you can turn the alarm right down to zero sound emitting by turning the knob / dial that's UNDER the console area between the front seats ............... maybe that's also available in the Ls430 ? Malc
  10. it's unlikely BUT ....... you haven't picked up summat in the tyre tread maybe ? Malc
  11. guess he's on holiday using his " new found " beautiful leather suit carrier 🙃 Malc
  12. will you be having the pulleys checked over too AND the waterpump changed whilst they're in there . it's possibly an all day job if it's the same as the Ls400 of that period Try the Toyota Main Dealer if there is one ?
  13. I had mine powder coated refurbished at a place in Sittingbourne for £250 if you're close by and want to spend that sort of £££ . probably last 15 years i was told if i don't road rage them Malc
  14. Everyone . good afternoon Is it just me or do others think the clear obsession with scratches on our beloved wheels has turned into summat quite " MAD " members are spending a fortune on remedying the tiniest scratches on wheel finishes, often costing hundreds of ££££ ..... it's a car with wheels on a road with obstacles and traffic etc 🤑 Are we / them, expecting something miraculous effect to be there to protect the car's wheels from knocks and dings and dents and scratches ...... for Heaven's Sake ..... they're only goddam WHEELS that make the car go around Malc
  15. brilliant you actually mixed and matched and came up with a few spoilt babies then 😃 Malc
  16. maybe it had just had a wash and brush up ! Malc
  17. it's all totally bonkers . you're buying a beautiful car, spending many £000's to have it just sitting on the driveway looking pretty ! Why don't you want to get the pleasure from using it ? Malc
  18. OR maybe a heat shield over the exhaust banging at prone places I had this on my Ls400 a few years back and there was zero obvious cause until my indy just checked out the heat shields and one was just resting a little on the exhaust pipe and only ever made itself known at a certain road hump in Faversham Kent ............ and nowhere else The heat shield was sacrificial in the end ..... popped off and into the skip and not to be replaced Wonder if this might assist you ? Malc
  19. On my Ls400 they've been at 30psi and show zero unexpected wear etc Malc
  20. I had my original wheels refurbished last year at £250 sans the plastic deep coloured centre caps ...... they look brill and I am told should last 15 years subject to my driving carefully enough . whacks excluded of course And Falken tyres are a great way to go . been using them mostly both on the Ls400 and my 56 plate Honda Legend for quite some 10's of '000s of miles Malc Malc
  21. I'm 73 and another 300k miles methinks ............ take the old lady to 543k miles ... not quite run-in BUT God help all the other road users around me eh ! 🤩 Malc
  22. there's a nice looking one on carandclassic website . you could buy that one ok ? Malc
  23. Brilliant . so what's the thoughts to change it for ??? For what ? you'rs should be ok for at least another 222222 miles surely . mine's going to be Malc
